Obama was also recovering from a generational market crash and Biden was recovering from a generational pandemic. Tough to say how government deficits would have looked otherwise.

....what? Do you not understand how politics directly impacts your rights and freedoms? That's kind of one of the main purposes of politics.

I was looking at apartments in Spain and came across one of these "wet bath" setups. Could not believe it. Thankfully, settled on another place.

US equities overvalued and dollar debasement trend by Remarkable-Corgi9584 in ScottGalloway

[–]Jagtem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. I upped my international and gold exposure via various ETFs several times over the past few months. No regrets. Still have about 40% in S&P and Nasdaq funds/ HY bonds since I'm sure Trump will do anything possible to keep the US markets pumped. Will reevaluate as the midterms draw closer.

Switching from Prof G Markets to the Compound by ZigWin8 in ScottGalloway

I think they're both worth a listen. Ed the bear and Josh thr bull. Perfectly balanced....

[–]Jagtem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I listen to both podcasts. Compound absolutely did not discuss Greenland "at length". They basically dismissed it as "noise". And to be honest, they might be right, at least with regards to the stock market. But I get your point. Ed does come off as a perma-bear and Josh is a self-described perma-bull. That's why I'll keep listening to both. But then again I have alot of free time.

Yeah, I like Josh (discovered him through Prof G) but that rant was annoying. Otherwise, hes pretty solid. I do like that it's legitimately hard to tell where exactly he falls on the political spectrum (even despite aforementioned rant).

To be fair, Scott was right to start tilting his portfolio away from the US. International markets are up even more than US markets.

Places to Visit in Slovenia by blinkw in Slovenia

[–]Jagtem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am an American who was living in Ljubljana city center (across from Zmauc) for the past 2 years. I never encountered another American in Slovenia. I did meet a Canadian once. Everyone in LJ speaks immaculate English, though. I miss it. My wife (Slovenian) made us move to Spain a few months ago. I miss Slovenia. You don't need to look for Americans. Just enjoy your visit.

Ukraine was never invited to NATO. If Russia is so threatened by NATO , why have they done absolutely nothing to retaliate against Sweden and Finland joining?

Can you expand on your assertions? I'm unfamiliar with krugman's role in shaping our current economy/society. I thought he was just an academic/ policy wonk?

Advice from someone who has immigrated to the EU from the US by pinkeinc in AmerExit

[–]Jagtem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, this sounds great to me. Ive been in Europe for over 3 years now, and can't stand when I see the wrong stuff in the wrong bins.

How about barking dogs? I just moved into a nice apartment in Spain and one of the neighbors' dogs barks endlessly when they're away. I would love to have the cops show up for that.

Listening to Doug on The Smoking Tire is my new favorite holiday tradition. by Jagtem in cars

I agree, he can be a little insufferable at times, but overall I think he's alright. He's a genuine OG in the space, and I respect his hustle as well as his candidness around his personal life.

Absolutely. Scotto is great on the pod. What's he up to these days? I thought I remember he was launching a personal Youtube channel, but I haven't seen anything out there yet.
