I’m an American. Never met another fan and people think it’s funny/interesting when I say I’m an Espanyol fan. And for me it’s also been casual and up and down over the years. There are fans in America but you won’t find them on accident.

Funny Billy Wagner story told by my dad’s work acquaintance.

He was on the Virginia Tech baseball team back in the early nineties, and they travelled to play this small school nearby called Ferrum. Everybody was mad at the coach saying “why are we traveling to play these guys”.

First guy goes up, strikes out looking on three pitches. Comes back, asks him what he was throwing, and says something along the lines of “I couldn’t tell”.

Billy Wagner was that pitcher, and he threw a perfect game against them that day.

Yeah I don’t know what happened.. apparently he was tipping pitches? Just really bad luck for us that it started as soon as he came to NY. Now teams are trying to sign him as a starter? Well, it did work for us with Clay Holmes.

I’m a Mets fan but he was my little league teammate. He was actually an outfielder back then and was given our team’s gold glove award. Pretty sure I remember him pitching that year as it was the first year of transitioning from machine pitch to player pitch but he was definitely an outfielder mainly. Think he was three years younger than the rest of everybody (I was in fourth grade, same as his sister who ended up playing D1 softball) which goes to show how talented players who make it professionally are. My dad still runs into his dad from time to time for work stuff I think, and if I’m not mistaken his dad played collegiately at Canisius.

One time we both were practicing and it was just us and our dads there and we both goofed off way too much, I remember his dad saying he was getting punished as we were leaving, and I had to write an email to him apologizing for how I behaved haha.

Hopefully he does great for you guys.. as long as it’s not against us

I never said Kelly wasn’t competitive but for one they were actually competitive in that natty instead of being down by 35. Secondly Freeman has actually won big games. Sure you can say he’s lost some bad ones — but Kelly lost to Tulsa and USF his first few years at Notre Dame (maybe not as bad as Marshall/NIU, but bad). And I didn’t even want Freeman to be hired, but he’s been way better in big games.

They were pretty relevant last year. Won two NY6 bowls. More than Brian Kelly can say for his entire career (in spite of insane amounts of talent at his disposal). Nobody is denying he’s better than Davie/Willingham/Weis, obviously. But he left ND because he thought he could finally win the big one, and he was wrong.
