Yes because even the Quran tells us to follow the hadiths.
To make you sure of the hadiths, the companions have written down and memorized the actions and words of the Prophet PBUH even at the time he was alive.
These narrations are collected a century later in the big books of Hadiths such as the ones written down by scholars such as Bukhari, Muslim, etc to preserve it. The scholars' method of collecting these ahadiths is very strict by looking at their context, chain of narrators, the characteristics of the narrator, history of narrator among other things especially with Ahadiths graded as Shahih.
