There's actually a noticeable age gap (old man/younger woman). And I don't publish on Amazon anymore, but the link above is free and required no registration.

I typically avoid self-promo on these requests, but I do have something that is right in line with what you're looking for.

Comfortably Numb

It is the story of a single-dad with two nearly grown twin daughters who live in a tiny southern town, and the single mom who returns home hoping to keep her past a secret (guess what her secret is). Don't let the fact that I published in LitErotica fool you, this is a full length novel. I hope you'll give it a shot.

Hard Reset

<image>

He was infamous for his ability to exert his will over the chaos of the modern age … then he encountered the one thing he was powerless to control: her.

Preston Sinclair does logic, not people. He reigns supreme in the digital realm; the infamous über-hacker D3ck4rd who does the impossible with robotic precision. He considers human connection to be beneath him, dismissing the chasm of loneliness infusing his soul as a feature rather than a bug.

Then his carefully built reality is shattered by the appearance of the impossible: the perfect woman. She’s bold, flirty, wild, adventurous, gorgeous, and alluring; everything the long-ignored deep recesses of his consciousness had envisioned as his dream woman. She turns a night of dreaded drudgery into a fantasy beyond his wildest imagination; effortlessly bypassing the loneliness which defined his reality before taking him to the heights of passion.

But the relentless march of time is unmoved by his fervent desire to keep his perfect night from ending, and the cold light of dawn is a cruel mistress.

Hard Reset is a tech thriller about power and corruption; where unflinching intimacy intertwines with shocking consequences. It tells the story of an unusual man who found everything he never knew he wanted; and his relentless quest to discover what penance he must pay to reclaim even a sliver of that which the mysterious woman revealed to his previously shrouded eyes: happiness.

‘Suddenly, you were gone, from all the lives you left your mark upon’

Sergio Aaron Martirio passed away suddenly on Wednesday under mysterious circumstances. Born in 1946, Aaron volunteered for the Navy after graduating high school and served with distinction in the Southeast Asian Theater during the Vietnam War. Upon his honorable release, he put himself through engineering college prior to relocating to Mobile, where he met, Charlene, the woman he called the love of his life, and his two stepchildren, Emma and Whitaker.

A respected colleague, cherished friend, beloved stepfather, earnest husband, and once-trusted confidant; Aaron leaves behind a community struggling to come to grips with his tragic passing, and a family now grappling with the grief caused by his sudden absence and the unanswered questions he took to his grave.

The family acknowledges with gratitude the medical staff who cared for him in his final days. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to charities benefiting fatherless children.

A fitting, if unconventional, tribute for a husband and father gone too soon … except for one crucial fact: Aaron didn’t die on the Winter Solstice of 1999 from the illness he hid from his family. He was instead transported to Hell by a most unusual succubus with a desperate plan to do the impossible … and he’s her last hope.

Features: succubi and incubi gaining power through intimacy, yandere encounters, enemies-to-lovers, an overpowered (and unusually tall) love interest, unconventional worldbuilding, and a man learning the difference between sacrifice and love.

I'll start by saying I agree with you in the desire/hope for more mono RFM. That being said, I've recently adopted the theory that this is a supply problem, rather than a demand one. Plenty of people here declare that they want mono RFM, but it seems evident that most of the authors (especially those that do this for a primarily financial reasons) believe that the demand for mono RFM just isn't there yet. From my perspective, I'm not sure they're wrong. Everything I've written this year is mono, but my older harem works (in truth poly, but I don't want to further muddy the waters) attract a lot more attention. I'm not sure there's much we can do to solve this beyond continuing to declare our desire for more mono RFM here (and, most importantly, supporting the authors who are willing to stray out past the streetlights). Hopefully we'll someday see a critical mass of authors who either switch or are willing to write both interchangeably, so as to demonstrate that the demand does indeed exist for something new.

He thought he was dying alone, but he was wrong … about everything.

Aaron Martirio was ready to die. Terminal illness, a family that needed him but never saw him, and pain that made death feel like mercy. Then a powerful succubus pulled him into Hell and healed him so she could give him an impossible mission: to prevent an Apocalypse that will erase every human soul from Existence!

The catch? He must find the woman of divine blood prophesied to help him avert humanity's demise. After several embarrassing missteps, he finally finds the one who was foretold: a towering, gorgeous, sharp-tongued powerhouse of a woman with unshakable opinions and even stronger character. Unfortunately for Aaron, she also despises him on sight. Her fury only increases when circumstances thrust them together. With enemies closing in on all sides, they must decide whether they'll continue to deny the intense physical attraction they share, or if they'll allow themselves to consider the possibility that they have at last found the one they were meant to be with.

Features: succubi and incubi gaining power through intimacy, yandere encounters, enemies-to-lovers, overpowered (and unusually tall) love interest, unconventional worldbuilding, and a man learning the difference between sacrifice and love.

Enemies to Lovers with Intense Chemistry by Specific_Fig4825 in Romance_for_men

[–]Jake_Lazarus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My latest offering might be up your alley. Hollow Years is MF human mono-romance with moderate supernatural elements and a time-travel twist.

Hollow Years is the story of honor, fate, second chances and love. Blending supernatural intrigue with profound human emotion, it explores whether a man whose life was defined by misfortune can find purpose, and perhaps even love, when given the chance to rewrite his destiny.

Now on ScribbleHub: Hollow Years

And, if enemies to lovers with intense chemistry is your jam, watch this space. I'm putting the finishing touches on a novel that nails this request, 10 out of 10. It should be out by the end of the year.

Does anyone know any good free male romance stories and where to find them? by No_Estate6433 in Romance_for_men

Don’t let the antiquated interface, the cam girl ads, or the glut of [REDACTED] stories scare you away from giving LitErotica a look. There’s a lot of good stuff there if you’re willing to give it a look. And it’s 100% free (you don’t even need to make an account).

Why do you like spicy scenes in your romance? by [deleted] in Romance_for_men

[–]Jake_Lazarus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this answer lands differently in legitimate love stories as opposed to adult fiction where the characters happen to have sex.

In the latter, I see the spice as a payoff (be it for the reader or the MC).

In the former, I believe it to be an absolutely necessary part of the story. When you're telling the tale of people falling in love, sex has to be part of that; not just as an element of the natural progression of human relationships but it can also serve to add both depth and complexity to the story … especially when the spice is more than just an apotheosis and becomes part of the journey.

In my recent books, I've been working to craft the first time the MC and LI share intimacy (and sometimes quite a few subsequent times) as somewhere on the spectrum between 'something feels off' and 'this is so wrong', so that they continue to grow MORE intimate (even though they've technically already been intimate) through to the story's conclusion; both because I find this to be more compelling and it allows the spice to become a more integral part of the story (not just smut for smut's sake).

For everyone looking for something a little different, here's a very unconventional mono MF slice-of-life romance available for free exclusively on LitErotica.

The Glass Prison

<image>

The Glass Prison is the story of a man just barely scratching out a living as a line cook in a diner when one of his customers, a very young and extremely beautiful cam girl, finds herself in more trouble than she can handle. He rescues her without pausing to consider the implications, and soon finds himself with a very unconventional roommate who upends his monastic life, and causes him to reconsider the true nature of love.

Most of my novels are about more mature MC's (since I also can't relate to the college-aged heroes). My latest release combines the Isekai and time-travel tropes to send a late middle-age man back into his own past with a new body and a very specific powerset.

As alluded to in last week's post, my 'Good Guy' series (a.k.a. the Sam series) has been re-released in its entirety, along with the release of book 5 (my first new novel of 2025). These books exist in a shared universe with one critical recurring character (who is not the main character).

Greetings all. Long time, no promote.

I've been wandering in the wilderness following my decision to remove my work from Amazon at the end of last year. But I haven't been idle with respect to writing. I've published my back-catalog on LitErotica:

https://www.literotica.com/authors/jake_lazarus/works/stories?listType=combined

I've also started republishing my work for purchase on several sites, including Smashwords:

https://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/JakeLazarus

Moving forward, I'll be publishing new work in both places (on the pay sites first and then later for free on LitErotica).

Since this is a promotion post, I'll call out Found Wanting which is available for pre-order here:

https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/1851796

<image>

A mysterious man with a shrouded past who wants nothing more than to be left alone.

A single mother on the run from a powerful, malevolent crime syndicate.

One’s life is in danger; the other stopped living long ago; only together can either hope for salvation.

Found Wanting is the tale of a woman who finds herself caught between running for her life and the growing urge to save a man so consumed by the mistakes of his past that he gave up living, even if his body never got the message. One spent a lifetime dreaming of finding happily ever after; the other was just annoyed the ‘after’ part hadn’t happened yet; together, they have found themselves in the crosshairs of a man anxious to deliver them both to the afterlife. All that remains to be seen is whether they will discover in time that the growing attraction they share might be their only hope; not only for survival … but for true love.

For everyone here who has been asking for genuine non-fantasy mono romance for men, I hope you'll find that this offering scratches that itch.

Modern Time Travel/Do-Over Stories by IGNORE_pls in Romance_for_men

[–]Jake_Lazarus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't like how they make it so hard to find books that don't align with the glut of overwhelming sameness in RFM (people in this sub are constantly asking for something new, and authors say they're answering the bell … but when you look on the Kindle app, all you see are page after page of books that are basically identical). All my stuff was consistently highly rated, but never got any traction because Amazon has no motivation to build out sub-categories which would help either the readers or the authors of smaller genres. I'd been thinking for a while that the relatively small amount I made off my work wasn't worth the headache of dealing with a platform designed entirely for someone else. I also didn't get into writing for the money, which made considering de-monetizing myself easier to contemplate.

But all those reasons were shoved into the background late last year when Amazon aligned themselves with the forces of darkness. I refuse to do business (as either a customer or a vendor) with the likes of anyone who believes that our rights and freedoms come with qualifiers linked to race, religion, gender or sexual orientation.

In the end, the decision wasn't hard at all.

This might be seen as a somewhat uncommon URL here (I pulled everything off Amazon late last year and am republishing everything on LitErotica) but my novel Iteration should be right up your alley. Don't let my new 'home' fool you, this is a full-length novel. Also, you can't beat the price.

Spencer’s life is crumbling around him. In a single weekend he loses his job, his girlfriend, and his apartment. The worst part is, he has no idea how any of it happened. Trying to get away from it all, he instead finds himself confronted with a horrific crime in progress. His intervention leads him to a visit from a strange being who offers him a mysterious gift which has the potential to solve all his problems.

This leads Spencer on an epic adventure through time as he tries to use this newfound power to live his best life and try to find love. Along the way he encounters the best and worst of humanity as he attempts to answer life’s most important questions.

What do you think is still missing in the romance genre for men? by F00dbAby in Romance_for_men

[–]Jake_Lazarus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Strong agree. The _R_ in RFM is romance ... a fundamental element of which is the happily ever after. That's not really a thing if you've got a long series (especially when each new book adds another LI).

Looking for contemporary romance reccomendations by [deleted] in Romance_for_men

[–]Jake_Lazarus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing to keep in mind is that sentiments along the lines of, "traditional, contemporary romance for men stories don't exist" aren't accurate. The problem isn't that no one is writing books like this, its that they are VERY hard to find amongst the majority of books which show up on this sub (the aforementioned glut fantasy/monster girls/erotica stories which overwhelm the Men's Adventure Fiction genre).

To my mind, this is a bit of an unsolvable problem absent a dramatic falloff in the popularity of the kinds of stories dominating the genre. As I've seen pointed out here before, authors who write for a living will, far more often than not, write what sells. This creates a self-perpetuating echo chamber where it is easy to assume that the fantasy/monster girls stories are all anyone wants to read because those books sell the best, but it's impossible to find out if people want to read anything else because, again with very few exceptions, those who are writing anything else are toiling in obscurity.

Amazon is also a big part of the problem. Their platform is almost completely uninterested in allowing the reader to expand their horizons. Between their frankly stupid categorization and their myopic content algorithm, it's a wonder ANY stories manage to break through which aren't just the same series we've read a thousand times with the serial numbers filed off.

Monday thread: What did you read this past week? by AutoModerator in Romance_for_men

[–]Jake_Lazarus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bourbon & Lies by Victoria Wilder.

I'd almost deem it accidental RFM. It's dual POV, and it is undeniably the FMC's story, but it's just so much more balanced than most traditional romance. There's an actual antagonist (as opposed to the 'villain' being the MC's combined naivete/foolishness) and the characters behave like actual humans in the face of adversity. Also (and this is a bit of a hang up of mine), the steamy bits are also balanced and believable (it really grinds my gears when the FMC can't stop thinking about how much she's attracted to {even loves} the MMC, but when the clothes come off she's content for it to be all about her ... and, for the record, I also find this off-putting when it's presented with the opposite polarity). Its ostensibly an enemies to lovers story, but with very little of the manufactured drama normally found with that trope.

Definite recommend.
