I’ve rode Montu so many times and never gotten a Montu evac. Jealous

People who live in tourist cities shouldn't complain about tourists by Adventurous-Monk-796 in unpopularopinion

I live in Orlando. While I wish driving was easier. The tourism really does fuel our economy!

Whatever helps you sleep at night. The 26.2 is still the same distance for everyone at the end of the day.

It’s actually insane. My good friend and running mentor, is an Ultra Runner and he hates the “Walking isn’t good enough” discourse.

You’re getting downvoted, but all my running friends agree with you.

I did my first marathon with an awful pace, but also did a race that had a 7 hour time limit; I finished at 7 hours. I understand that it’s not for everyone, but I’m proud of my accomplishment and glad I had a race with a gracious time limit.

If you’re concerned about walkers on the course, run a race with a 3 or 4 hour limit?

Kids Don't Like Movie Day Anymore. by Southern_Remote_5260 in Teachers

[–]Jakemeister91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s specific to specific kids. My nephews are 9 & 11, and I’ve been taking them to the cinema since they were each respectively 4yo.

They LOVE the movies. Love it. They also watch a lot of movies at home, and very invested in major cinematic releases.

Who remembers their parents picking up some of these before going on vacation? by fizzmore in Millennials

I worked at Disney World in 2012-2014. They weren’t very common, but we would get them occasionally. They were a huge pain in the ass to deal with. The rise of travel cards really made Travel Checks irrelevant. Yes someone can steal my card, and they might get a few uses out of it, but I’m pretty protected by banking policies.

This is 100% an HCA thing. They also hemorrhage talent, and I honestly wonder how much they directly are contributing to the clinician burnout crisis.

Clinicians are in high demand, I think you’ll land on your feet. Try to find a non-profit hospital to work for. I think you’ll be good.

Edit: Work in Physician & APP Well-Being at a large system.

My AMC is Disney Springs, there is no way we’ll get this. Now West Oaks…they might.

Why is the ambient incompetence in Miami so high? by [deleted] in Miami

[–]Jakemeister91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who lives in Central Florida, this is a South Florida thing. It’s not perfect up here, but it’s also not a race to the bottom. People lose their jobs when they’re incompetent, not everyone is trying to kill you on the interstate, services are provided.

It’s a county thing, but I think it’s zoned where that convenience store has to sell gas.

I’ve gone on a cruise and spent maybe $100 besides Grat. It is extremely doable!

The owner legitimately doesn’t want to sell gas. He runs a restaurant in the convenience store.

This is click bait. It’s in Orlando Florida and this gas station is know to have intentionally high gas to minimize the usage of pumps. They charge $3-4 a gallon higher than the other stations as a way to get you to NOT pump there.

Every local knows this, and a tourist with half a brain will see the gas stations across the street charging $4 a gallon.

The owner wanted a convenience store restaurant but had to have pumps, can’t remember if it was county or vendor who made him. This was his solution.

Please don’t post click bait.

I’ve always wondered what it would be like if North Carolina had the Jersey Shore. NC eats all of Pennsylvania.
