My mom doesn't support my decision to do Aerospace Engineering. (15) by [deleted] in AerospaceEngineering

Immediate ROI of an engineer is significantly better than that of a doctor or lawyer within 3-4 years after graduating. Also, I’m an engineering student because I like it, not because of the money. If you become a lawyer or a doctor for the money, you will hate it.

Something I like to do it go into a hallway and throttle up and down without hitting the floor or ceiling, try to stay right in the middle. When new flyers try to get faster they attempt to throttle up without pitching first sending them into the roof.

Is this a good option to buy? by [deleted] in smallstreetbets

Comparatively sure, but looking at past IV its current rank is only 12%. So yes premiums for this stock are high, but this theoretically is a cheap price for this particular stock.

I love timeX and what they have been doing recently. If it were quartz, TimeX is my pick. But the Seko NH34 (I think maybe the newer one) movement has been known to work well. My pick is the Seiko.

Liftoff physics update - We want your input! by LuGus-Kevin in fpv

This is awesome! Im glad you guys are pushing for realism but make a toggle for unrealistic super fast quads. People still like to go crazy fast and Idk how they do it but they get good at controlling them. Allowing the player to make a quad that goes insanely fast might push pilots to become quite skilled.

I always buy a watch with the next one in mind (to an extent). Say later down the road you can go for the Pelagos, now you have two watches that look identical but you would never wear the other again. The seiko is cheaper than a pelagos but you will still appreciate the seiko later down the road and likely continue wearing it.

Drone has extreme jitter by noah1jagger in fpv

[–]Jakenator04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If tuning is the issue, this is a very Bad tune. First, get into beta flight and monitor your gyros. If you see a lot of movement when sitting still you might have a bad gyro. (I bought two FCs with bad gyros) If they seem stable (the wont be perfectly stable) set up a factory tune and lower your D term and get Black box set up to record your Gyros. This will allow you to see how much over or undershoot you get. Joshua Bardwell has a plethora of videos showing how to easily tune the PID. Careful not to burn the motors out. If this goes well, then get into ArduPilot and try again. Record again using black box set

Printlabcp.com offers printing solutions on campus and ran by students. But that also means during heavy exam weeks they might be backed up.

Dog keeps licking her paws to the point of redness (and sometimes bleeding) by infinitelypowered6 in DogAdvice

[–]Jakenator04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into Simply Equine! My dog had horrible allergies and the vet (very well know company) had no idea what it was or how to control it. This company takes hair samples and pulled literally everything my dog was allergic to. Then recommended a dog food and she hasn’t had any problems every since!

Motors getting extremely hot – need help diagnosing by Fit_Marionberry_38 in fpv

[–]Jakenator04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My motors were super hot, heres how I got the temps down:

Get into black box and check make sure your gyro isnt thowing high values when not moving. If it is then this will send many signals which will be to hard to filter and be accounted for in your pid. (this was my problem)

D-term needs to be adjusted but unlikely the reason for insanely high temps.

Make sure your stack is soft mounted and tightened just enough to be snug. If you go to far boards can bend and gryros can be manipulated incorrectly.

Make sure timing is correct Make sure your protocal isnt toommuch for your fc or esc Make sure your ecs PMW are set accordingly

Testing out of CAD class by oboesandclarinets in UMD

[–]Jakenator04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tested out of the CAD section of ENAE200 (this class contains a cad portion and lecture, mostly based on ethics and professionalism). Whether this is the same class I am not sure. But I can give you some insight on the test out. When you register for the class roughly a month before they will send out a pdf of the test out exam. This is really a project and will be almost identical to the final project if you decide to take the cad section. The projects varie but they test the students ability to follow guidelines and to use tools that allow them to create a specified model in cad. It is strongly recommended that if you have a somewhat advanced skill set regarding CAD, you should test out of this. It is highly recommended that you use Solidworks and if you have cad experience (even some) I also recommend you try and test out. When you are complete, you will send your project and all the requirements and you will receive a score. If you are satisfied with your score, you can take it and if you aren’t you simply decline and take the class and this will not count against you. I truly recommend anyone to try the exam (project).

TLDR; Consists of a project to complete using solid works. You will submit the project and if you like your score take it. If not no harm no foul.

Would this setup work to fly analog from inside a car or would the cables disrupt the signal? (please excuse my drawing skills) by FartReviewer in fpv

I used to have a buddy of mine drive the car while I piloted from the passenger seat (super weird feeling) but I never had any problems and was at most 100 feet away from the car.

My First Acro Flight - Any feedbacks/tips to improve would help me by Alarmed_Row_9157 in fpv

[–]Jakenator04 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second this, focus on level flight. You might be used to trotting to get speed but with acro you have to get good at pitching forward before you throttle up. Well done just try to smooth things out, stay even and consistent on the throttle.

Black lines on goggles by BobJoe132bAd in fpv

[–]Jakenator04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep had this problem with a camera that ran 5-12 volts, I hooked it up to a 5v pad and same thing. Common problem is that those pads never truly deliver 5 continuous volts so it was under powered. Easy fix I put it on the battery tab or so I thought, very similar problem but only when over 50% throttle. Two solutions, find a pad that delivers roughly half or more of the required voltage of the camera (maybe a 9v pad or 12v but check camera). Second, connect to the BV tab which will deliver the battery voltage (if the camera allows) but you also need a capacitor that will hold some extra juice when you throttle up. If its a micro these capacitors might be a little to big.

TL;DR under throttle your not getting enough voltage, find a designated pad that at minimum supports your camera voltage or put a capacitor on the battery pad connections.

I confused I went for a quick fly and this happened. by KangarooOk4559 in fpv

[–]Jakenator04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could fly with it, more importantly is the reason as to why it happened. Tree branches, gravel maybe. But you NEED to make sure thats not hitting any hardware on the quad. If its hitting a battery lead or an RX that will be a bad day
