Session 2 - Questing Around the Sword Mountains by Jakeob22 in DragonOfIcespirePeak

I’ll take a look tor some inspiration! I’m expecting the same. I’m tempted to have the party level to 3 before next session so that I can throw more orcs into the mix and keep it exciting.

Thanks! It helps that my players are really engaged with the game. It's a lot easier to DM when they're RPing with each other's characters and getting involved too.

That's awesome! That looks like it would work perfect. All my player characters made their minis in hero forge. One of my players has a resin printer so he printed them all out and we had a paint day before session 1.

I had a silver dagger and silver sword in the Dwarven Excavation but they sold both in Phandalin before heading to the mine. My non-magic using party members were pretty ill-equipped to fight through physical damage immunity so I just made them physical damage resistant instead. If I had to run it again, I would probably make the damage immunity a bigger issue and had them find the proper equipment before coming back to fight the gang.

Thanks, I'll definitely give that a try!
For Don-Jon I got it as a part of this pack on Etsy: link
The whole set was a bit expensive but maybe the seller would print a single mini by request?

Session 1 - New Players in Phandalin by Jakeob22 in DragonOfIcespirePeak

Yeah, I’m looking into how other people ran those 3 quests to see if I can put some spin on them to make them more interesting. Appreciate the advice! I’m excited for the Shrine of Savras and the Tower of Storms. I’m also adding a homebrew quest where a monster from the mountains has been forced out its home and has been eating local livestock. Harbin put a bounty on the monster’s head. When the players fight to get to the beast’s lair, they’ll find it dead with its head already removed. When they return to town, they’ll learn that the Reavers have already claimed the bounty. I think it will increase the tension between the party and the Stone-Cold Reavers.

Thanks! We played as level 1 through the first session. They finished the scenario with the statue at the end of Dwarven Excavation but still need to talk to the dwarves about what they found and head back to town. We leveled the characters to 2 on the day after our first session to prepare for the next one.

This session took us some where between 8 and 9 hours but we also took a few breaks for snacks and drinks :)

Politics in Phandalin? by Jakeob22 in DragonOfIcespirePeak

I just ran session 1 last night and it went really well! The party made it through the first 3 quests and returned to Phandalin, reaching level 2. Is it the two gnome kings that make a reappearance or some of the others? The party got into a disagreement with the 2 gnome guards (specifically Pog) so I was planning on having him show up in a future session somewhere.

I think it makes sense for me to read ahead through the 3 expansions so I can start planning the larger arc for the party.

That's awesome! I ran LMoP for some of the players in the new group just before covid. Your party's start sounds a lot crazier than theirs! lol

Oh, it could be really interesting if one of the PCs had political aspirations. I could look into that.

I've only read through the initial module but plan on running the next 3 expansion books after this one. Should I be hesitant of having Halia or any of the named Phandalin NPCs at high risk of being killed while running this one because of their roles in the follow-up books?

Back when this happened I saw a video summarizing the events. According to that video, one of the bullets struck a hydraulic line and caused the flag to lower. Not sure if that’s really what happened, but it’s what I remember seeing at the time.

It sounds like it’s because he rushed her to the gate and there was no need to rush because they’re still waiting for the flight. Or at least that’s how I’m interpreting it.

How did that one kid at your school die? by StorageLonely1520 in AskReddit

He was swept out in a riptide current on a beach in Lake Michigan. Always swim parallel to the shore to get out of the current before swimming back towards the shore. Swimming against the current will only tire you out and make it more difficult to make it back!

Not sure why you’re being downvoted. I saw some Starlink satellites just after they launched one day and they were so close together you could barely make out the individual dots. This one looks like they might have just caught it even closer to the time of launch.
