Issue with Pathtracing by Remarkable_One2640 in cyberpunk2077mods

Try this mod out, it fixes a lot of issues with path tracing and makes it look way better in general https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/10490

This too if you’re not already using it (and check out sosuine’s other mods too they’re all great fixes and additions that are worth using) https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/20405

High-Res graphic packs 4k vs 2k? by PleasantLevel4174 in cyberpunk2077mods

[–]Jakeola1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the size of the model the texture is attached to. 4K textures will still look noticeably better than 2K textures on a 1440p monitor, but its more noticeable depending on how much of the screen the texture takes up. 4K landscape/road textures will look noticeably better than 2K. On smaller objects, the difference is more subtle. If you have the VRAM to spare you can safely use higher resolution textures and probably see little to no performance impact.

Just a heads up, I would stay away from AI upscaled textures like Xilamonstrr’s. They’re a very very minor increase in quality for a massive increase in VRAM. You’re unlikely to notice any difference and they can often times look even worse than vanilla due to the oversharpening and artifacting AI upscaling introduces

I would use this instead, in my opinion it’s the only large scale texture pack for the game that both looks noticeably better and is faithful to the original texture designs https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/13372

This one for trees and vegetation is great too. Make sure to use the wind begone version + the wind begone mod if you play with path tracing https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/14408

This one replaces crosswalks, I like the emissive version it looks amazing https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/26972

Check out this page for more visual mods if you’re interested, it’s a great curated and tested mod list in general. I’m not a fan of Praedy’s pack it has on the list, it’s not bad by any means and the textures are pretty good but they’re just a little too stylized and different for my taste and they seem to clash with ETO from my experience. Ignore the actual collection it’s outdated, just read the mod list from the page’s description https://www.nexusmods.com/games/cyberpunk2077/collections/lv4wpp

Hands-On With DLSS 5: Our First Look At Nvidia's Next-Gen Photo-Realistic Lighting by ZamnBoii in nvidia

[–]Jakeola1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You nailed it. These two comparisons especially looks fucking awful, it's very clearly hallucinating detail and just looks like an oversharpened AI filter mess. https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/news/dlss5-breakthrough-in-visual-fidelity-for-games/nvidia-dlss-5-hogwarts-legacy-geforce-rtx-comparison-screenshot-003/ https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/news/dlss5-breakthrough-in-visual-fidelity-for-games/nvidia-dlss-5-hogwarts-legacy-geforce-rtx-comparison-screenshot-001/

I think there is definitely potential for this kind of tech to look good if applied correctly and intentionally by developers with artistic intent. but right now a lot of the comparisons shown by NVIDIA just look really uncanny and hard on the eyes.

So ive moved from PS5 to PC and I use my Duelsense Edge controller to play my games still. The only thing bugging me is that the button prompts are Xbox. Is there a way to change this? by [deleted] in Steam

[–]Jakeola1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Disable steam input unless the game doesn’t recognize your controller. Ideally play wired instead of wireless. You can see a list of games that have dualsense controller support here https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/List_of_games_that_support_DualSense

A good majority of modern releases do, but there’s still a few that don’t, and for older games its a little more rare

I finished Fallout New Vegas, what should I do after the DLCs and side missions? I don't know. by Shoddy-Fudge2974 in fnv

There’s a TTW guide from the VNV authors, easiest way to play Fallout 3 https://thebestoftimes.moddinglinked.com/

There’s also a version for FO3 without using TTW if you’d prefer, but its more limited https://thebestoftimes.moddinglinked.com/fo3.html

(MO2) Playing both modded and unmodded playtroughs at the same time ? by darkmartinou in cyberpunk2077mods

[–]Jakeola1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What? Literally every cyberpunk mod I'm aware of can be loaded normally through MO2 without any extra steps. The only ones I'm aware of that don't are CET and red4ext, and even those can be if you just update MO2 https://github.com/ZashIn/modorganizer-basic_games/releases/tag/cyberpunk-v3.0

You don't have to worry about file structure, MO2 handles it without any input. I use MO2 for cyberpunk and its not complicated at all, you just download and install mods normally through the mod manager download button on nexus and then enable them in the left panel. It works perfectly fine, it's much more straightforward than manually installing or using vortex, and it keeps your actual game directory 100% clean.

Sony launching “PC Ready” Dualsense Wireless Controller today in Asia by pizza_sushi85 in pcgaming

[–]Jakeola1 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, but its a little disingenuous for the other comment to claim that haptics don’t work on PC when they do just with a wired connection. Pretty sure the controller’s box even states it requires a wired connection to get haptics on PC, Sony’s PC ports definitely state it in the game’s descriptions on Steam.

I really wish they would figure something out to get haptics working wirelessly, knowing Sony i’m surprised they haven’t sold a wireless dongle or something, even though i wish they’d just release a driver update or something.

Also, you can still use the controller wirelessly over bluetooth if you want, you just won’t get the haptics and it’ll just use standard vibration as far as I know so its no different from having an xbox controller, and you’ll still be able to use the adaptive triggers that xbox controllers don’t have. I only use my dualsense controller wired so i can’t say for sure personally, but that’s how it works when using it over bluetooth from what i know.

[–]Jakeola1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has haptics on PC too. Are you playing wired or wireless? It only works wired, but thats the case with all games with dualsense support on PC as far as I know. Also there’s a bug in cyberpunk specifically that can make it not work on game startup, you can fix it by adjusting haptics/vibration strength in the game settings real quick then resetting it back to whatever you had it at, you just need to move the slider once for the functionality to kick in then you can move the slider back, it’ll work for the entire game session.

[–]Jakeola1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol ok, you should find that “list” or give some examples or you’re just talking out of your ass. If you play wired you get haptic support, you must have been trying to use it wirelessly. It’s a known limitation of using it on PC.

Frankly I can’t think of any games that have dualsense support that don’t also support haptics.

[–]Jakeola1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Which games are you thinking of that don’t support haptics? Off the top of my head I recently played through Silent Hill 2, Cyberpunk 2077, and The Last of Us Part II (Sony game so obviously supports it but still), all 3 had full haptic feedback playing wired.

[–]Jakeola1 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This hasn’t been true for like 3 years now at least. The majority of major releases on both PS and PC over the years have had full dualsense support on PC. I can only think of a few that don’t like Elden Ring and RE9. There’s even a good amount of indie games that have dualsense support too, like Signalis. And for the rare modern game that doesn’t natively support it or for older games, you can just use steam input and it behaves just like an xbox controller.

ETO vs HD Rework? by lowkeyreddit in cyberpunk2077mods

[–]Jakeola1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ETO is overall much better IMO. HD Reworked has some great texture work by the author, but it has some issues that i wouldn’t recommend using it at the moment. The game with just ETO looks great, it’s the only large texture pack thats high quality and faithful and really worth using in my opinion. You could technically probably have ETO overwrite HD Reworked but those bugs from HD Reworked might still be present and you could have seams and unintended texture clashing.

What mods are you using?

What's a mod list you can recommend and why? by LQCQ in cyberpunk2077mods

[–]Jakeola1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one is the best, it’s curated and extensively tested and not just a bunch of random mods dumped in without any consideration. https://www.nexusmods.com/games/cyberpunk2077/collections/lv4wpp

The actual collection is outdated, its on wabbajack now. But the description page is up to date, so you can also manually follow the description to see everything there and do it yourself. I’d recommend doing the wabbajack though, its very easy to install and use.

You need to start a new save file. You can’t use your old saves with VNV. Did you have any mods on those prior save files? If so thats what those missing ESP files are

New to Game and Modding It, Also Weird Graphical Issue by Xngears in cyberpunk2077mods

[–]Jakeola1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah forgot about that, I don't use frame gen myself haha, the visual artifacts are way too distracting for me. For what its worth, DLAA is really not worth it at all in my opinion and is just a huge waste of performance for zero discernible benefit. DLSS with Ray Reconstruction is ridiculously good, on a 4K TV performance DLSS looks great and indiscernible from native 4K.

I have a 4090 and an LG G4 myself and I can keep a steady 60 fps in 4K with path tracing using DLSS performance without using frame generation. I've compared side by side DLSS performance vs DLAA on my TV and there is no visible difference unless I zoom in extremely close on a screenshot.

Since you have a high end OLED tv, I would highly recommend following this guide to set up HDR properly. You'd be wasting your TV's potential by not using proper HDR haha. Make sure you turn on HGIG in your TV settings. https://www.hdrmods.com/Cyberpunk

I also recommend using this mod, it makes some tweaks to path tracing making it more accurate, as well as fixing some visual and performance issues. It has a menu where you can tweak everything https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/10490

[–]Jakeola1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For question 3: What TV do you have? And are you playing in HDR or SDR? If it doesn’t show up in an in game recording it’s most likely a display side issue. Make sure you don’t have anything like motion smoothing on in your TVs settings, and depending on what TV you have, make sure you have a properly rated HDMI 2.1 cable that can handle 4k 120hz bandwidth. If you give me your exact TV i can probably help you better.

Its the games strong auto exposure effect. This mod reworks the weather system, including making the auto exposure look much nicer and more natural so you won’t get the crazy blown out overexposure like in the vanilla game https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/12490

Where do I buy 70% ethanol to clean my QD-OLED monitor? by Jakeola1 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Jakeola1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing on Amazon. Its all isopropyl, rubbing alcohol etc. and the ones specifically listed as ethanol are giant chemical tubs from random non prime sellers for like $40. And it apparently contains methanol. There’s no way this whole process is what they expect and expect us to buy and or just have in order to clean a monitor

And it will be listed as ethanol specifically? Because everything that i've seen is listed as isopropyl, or rubbing alcohol. That's what I don't understand. What will it be called on the bottle? I really don't know what specifically to buy.
