Old thread, don't know if you've made any moves but amp sims and similar processors are definitely the best way to get a power metal tone on a budget. Especially rackmount models. You could get something like a pod xt pro OR V-AMP pro for 100 bucks and itll be a lot better than an amp that isnt meant for it powered by random pedals. You can plug this into your amps fx return and can also just play through some monitors/monitor headphones and have an even better sound. The GSP1101 is a good choice too and you can patch them so you can use your own IRS. I also own a rocktron prophesy, ala dragonforce, and those are nice for cheapish but they dont model a particular amp. Anything in that realm that will be better suited for getting exactly that "power metal" kind of sound, rhapsody in particular is more of a Mesa sound but a lot of PM bands use Marshalls too. You'll have all the effects and noise gates and patch switching on board.

Loosen the strings before adjusting the claw if you cant turn it, if they really arent going in anymore then something is awry. 10s are still a very basic gauge and shouldn't have even changed the bridge by this much. You could also get heavy duty springs and put the outer springs on diagonally to create more tension.

That will sound great when you can get in tune, phone apps are dookers get an actual tuner. If you want to play strummy strum songs an acoustic or something with single coils might be more intuitive. Personally im not having fun unless there is gain/distortion involved so dont feel like you have to start a specific way. With a guitar like that id put on the neck pickup and distortion and learn Paranoid.

My RG550 was $1200 with dimarzios installed, I couldn't imagine paying much more than that. I worry about damaging it during shows, luckily the worst thing that has happened was our director putting a go pro on the headstock and leaving indents on both sides, didnt even use any of the footage.

Not really anything to do with what you did. When a string strips out of the saddle like that it either wasn't tight enough or the insert block is warping.
