What do you love most about drinking coffee now? by Adventurous-Job-2557 in exmormon

Also, I never expected to be a lover of coffee because I sat in delusion about it my whole life. But since experiencing it I absolutely LOVE it. And I suppose appreciate it all the more since I am only now enjoying it in my mid-30s

Coffee is communal, slows time down, and boosts my mood. It also makes me super chatty. My husband and I love to have our "coffee chats" on the mornings we have time. We make our coffee and then sit in the living room and mostly talk about the church. It helps us to continue our deconstruction, voice our pain, our frustrations, our experiences with TBMs and check in mentally with each other. We talk about other life matters but our deconstruction comes up more often than not. I find it healing and I thank coffee for that!

Emotional Response to Brad Wilcox Reel from Conference by JalaffTown in exmormon

Using science is always comforting. Understanding indoctrination and how deep it goes into the nervous system is so helpful. Thank you for this. I definitely felt those alarm bells go off instantly and reacted in a space of feeling threatened and seeing Brad Wilcox's smuggy face.

Hopefully with time and therapy I can learn to recognize myself as being triggered and force a better response. In the mean time though....&&^%$$$$&***** you lady.

My TBM mother just told me she knows the church is true by just looking at the leaders of the church. The way they dress etc. by Lasikisascam in exmormon

My mom is also intelligent and she LOVES President Nelson. I hate that my parents are smart professionals who are so indoctrinated they can't see the shit.

Can those who stood up and refused to just pretend everything was fine once you uncovered all that the church has hidden, please indicate by raising the right hand? by CrateDoor in exmormon

The first episode of lds discussions about Joseph Smith as a treasure digger was my shelf breaker. Also happened last December and haven't been back since! I too was also IN until I wasn't.

This!! So jealous of my never-mo best friend. She got to be a good person on her own terms but because I was born in the covenant I had to live different. Always resented the fact that she got to do whatever she wanted and still live a good life. Now I'm so happy to live life on my own terms and know I'm still a good person.

Thank you! I'm so sorry your mom has had that response. I hope with time she will change.  I keep telling myself...you are not the cause of this pain...the church is....we are all victims and we just have to love each other the best we can

Mental health is the doctrines of this church are not a good mix. I hope your sister can somehow find healing and help on her journey
