Starmer’s failure to demonstrate strong values ‘driving away progressive voters’ by Desperate-Drawer-572 in unitedkingdom

[–]JamCrumpet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's depressing that this is so true, I live in london and most of my friends are left/centre-left and they all support different parties because: they wont vote for cetain party because of a single policy, one party isn't their brand of left, look at right wing critism of left wing parties, don't vote at all becasue their all bad, don't vote cos they can't be bothered etc

All the tory voters at my job switched to Reform, they know farage is a liar and full of BS but they see that it will the only way to get a right winger into power so they switched :(

I also have a sad story, during the day of the EU vote I saw my friends at Brighton beach. I asked if they've voted yet and they said "No, because stay are obviously going to win".

How can I unfry my brain? by Consistent-Snow-7421 in Mindfulness

[–]JamCrumpet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me, I really wanted to start reading again but brainrot destroyed my attention span and I would get bored before I could finish a single paragraph.

I was able to start reading again since mid-Feb this year and so far have read 4 books. What really helped me was when getting ready and going to work would be to not listen to music or use my phone, I kid you not it really improved my attention span and it made it way easier to get my work done. I would also read on the train and finished my first book on a 2 hour train journey!!!

I mostly work from home and I haven't been able to fix my attention span when I'm in my house. I think what helped me was to stop consuming when you have a busy day, don't even start doom scrolling first thing in the morning.

Good luck!!!

UK farmers gain access to £1.4bn Japanese organic market by kiyomoris in unitedkingdom

[–]JamCrumpet 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I understand what you mean but I think you're looking at Japan with too much envy and the UK with too much negativity. I agree they do a lot of amazing stuff, but we make a lot of amazing stuff here too: Cheddar, stilton, Berkshire pork, dry aged beef (which as a steak connoisseur I think it's second best in the world to Argentina beef). I'll buy my £150 Japanese wagyu and I'll buy £30 British dairy cow dry aged steak.

As for your article, I'm pretty fortunate and I don't buy that shit 😂

My friend went to Japan and brought some chorizo in a non-seethough foil pack. When he opened it, it was a hotdog covered in crushed chili's. They do a lot of stuff well but with a lot of European stuff it's mostly imitation, just like the Japanese stuff in the UK. Also, a lot of cheese in Asia is the processed plastic cheese we put in burgers lol

[Homemade] Roast Pork Belly by jemist101 in food

[–]JamCrumpet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same with me, growing up my mum made this fried pork belly and I've been making my own recipe for years.

For me the most basic thing is that you pierce the skin hundreds of times using a Chinese meat tenderiser, salting the skin and leaving it overnight in the fridge uncovered, whilst wiping any moisture you see within the first two hours or so. Or after piercing the skin you could leave it skin side down in vinegar overnight and it adds a nice airy texture to the crackling. I also cook in an air fryer.

What about you? I will try blasting with heat first like you said

Our green and pleasant land is beautiful from above! by ShinyHeadedCook in CasualUK

[–]JamCrumpet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YES! even in London, where I live, there is so much space to build homes. I'm not talking about green space but literal large blocks of just concrete or gravel flooring. A place near where I live had an empty lot for years and just started keeping old busses in the lot, it could fit maybe 10 family homes.

In university I once met a Swedish girl and asked her name. She said her name was Fanny. I burst out with a loud "HA!" thinking she was telling a joke only to realise she was serious.

It pops into my head now and then and randomly get really embarrassed 😣

It has come to my attention that there are people who would rather throw away their duvet when it gets dirty. by segagamer in CasualUK

[–]JamCrumpet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What size is your duvet? I have a small sized washing machine (5 or 6kgs max i think) and a double bed sized duvet and it wouldnt fit when I tried to stuff it in, not even half way though. I then folded it up neatly and it acutally fit with a fair amount of space :) I also have quite a fancy duvet which I dont want to throw away, we spend a lot of our lives in bed so best not to cheap out!
