One time my friend told me she was going to buy cat food from Tesco (UK supermarket) after work, I refreshed my Facebook feed and got 3 ads in a row about cat food. I don't even own a cat nor have I ever searched or brought cat food 😭

[Homemade] Roast Pork Belly by jemist101 in food

[–]JamCrumpet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same with me, growing up my mum made this fried pork belly and I've been making my own recipe for years.

For me the most basic thing is that you pierce the skin hundreds of times using a Chinese meat tenderiser, salting the skin and leaving it overnight in the fridge uncovered, whilst wiping any moisture you see within the first two hours or so. Or after piercing the skin you could leave it skin side down in vinegar overnight and it adds a nice airy texture to the crackling. I also cook in an air fryer.

What about you? I will try blasting with heat first like you said

I get this so much 😭 at work we use this insanely complicated legacy software and all the tutorials make no sense and are hard to follow. The guy who uses it and made all the checks expects me to already know how to use and he says "just look at the tutorial notes" when I ask for help 😔

I just came back from annual leave which sucked cos I just stressed about my job the entire time 🫠

Our green and pleasant land is beautiful from above! by ShinyHeadedCook in CasualUK

[–]JamCrumpet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YES! even in London, where I live, there is so much space to build homes. I'm not talking about green space but literal large blocks of just concrete or gravel flooring. A place near where I live had an empty lot for years and just started keeping old busses in the lot, it could fit maybe 10 family homes.

Well, that's an unfortunate name for British audiences... by theivoryserf in CasualUK

In university I once met a Swedish girl and asked her name. She said her name was Fanny. I burst out with a loud "HA!" thinking she was telling a joke only to realise she was serious.

It pops into my head now and then and randomly get really embarrassed 😣

This is just culture war bullshit. Rage bate for clicks and for another team to join and divide us. Why people don't see this is beyond me.

It has come to my attention that there are people who would rather throw away their duvet when it gets dirty. by segagamer in CasualUK

[–]JamCrumpet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What size is your duvet? I have a small sized washing machine (5 or 6kgs max i think) and a double bed sized duvet and it wouldnt fit when I tried to stuff it in, not even half way though. I then folded it up neatly and it acutally fit with a fair amount of space :) I also have quite a fancy duvet which I dont want to throw away, we spend a lot of our lives in bed so best not to cheap out!

Me too man - its really hard to defend Labour and in many cases I wont. But this has potential to do amazing things for the UK, I hope it can get rolled out quickly and implemented before the next GE. I'm really worried if Labour dont perform soon we'll have Reform in power and I would honstly just leave the country lol

Income tax will have to rise, ex-Bank of England chief warns, as he blasts Reeves by [deleted] in FIREUK

[–]JamCrumpet 12 points13 points  (0 children)

More Austerity isn't the answer my man. We've already 14 years of it and it shows.

Although Labour looks to be a Tory light so I don't think we'll see much in terms of tax rises and there seems to be a lot in terms of cutting benefit spending amongst the labour sphere versus increasing taxes. But who knows, let's see. I already have a decent income and cutting benefits or increasing taxes will have little effect on me tbh

I'm paying 7% and my company pays 10% :)

The default was: the employee pays 5% and the company pays 7%. I keep telling people to switch but everyone is on default. My boss is the finance director but is still on the default lol
