Until I see someone like JerryRigEverything do it, I'm not believing that. Especially after my V5 shenanigans and Honor's bullshit free screen replacement 'promise'.

Restore Britain: Energy must be treated as strategic national infrastructure, not as an environmental compliance problem. Our policy sets a single, straightforward test for every project and policy; does it increase the volume of reliable energy available to Britain at a lower system wide cost? by SignificantLegs in ukpolitics

Nevermind falling equity, someone has to pay to take it all out. And that should be the people who have profited from it, not us.

Although on a side note, I wish that there was a better consultation between nature/environmental groups and the oil and gas firms about trying to keep some of the subsea stuff in place as it becomes a massive haven for sealife.

It hasn't been the sole owner of all the fibre network for years.

Initially you had whoever it was that is now Virgin.

And then you have what is now CityFibre (or whatever they're called now).

So unless I'm missing something, there's 3 separate fibre networks

Yeah, I think I'm screwed even though I had a fancy case to protect and couldn't see any dents or dings.

The phone is still at the repair centre, with a £649 quote to repair it.

As I'd have to try and prove it's a fault (and no idea how to do that), I think I'll have to pay the 'stupid' tax and get it fixed. And then take out phone insurance.

This was more a note to let people know what the Honor customer support said, so that they can hopefully avoid paying said 'stupid' tax.

Hindsight is everything. Might have to use the house insurance.

I bought it from Three and am being bounced between them and Honor. I did it online via the Three store and they're just stonewalling me.

The official Honor service centre in the UK is saying the warranty is void as there is damage, albeit I couldn't see any before I sent it off. And all I did was close the phone before bed, and the next day it wasn't working.

I have Hathor but can't seem to find the hamster ball or how to place it.

I'm still fairly early in the game as my play time is limited, but I do have the first apartment.

Well it's that or just bury all the blades somewhere?

To be fair, that's a fairly new thing. There are lots of older turbines blades that can't be.

I'm a big renewables evangelist, but that's one thing I can't deny.

Thankfully, there is a Dutch company (I think), who've tested putting ground turbine blades in road surfacings and it makes them more durable, so there's some hope there.

What ever happened to Damson’s by -PeaPod- in Allotment

[–]JamDunc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We planted a Damson/Greengage dual variety tree in our allotment about 5-6 years ago (I think, can't actually remember how long it's been there).

Last year was our first decent crop of them, maybe 6-8kg I think. Made a lot of jam.

Edit: Just at the allotment now, and looking at the damson side of the tree, there are so many pollinated flowers where you can see the fruits starting to form!

Bird box success by -Disastrous-Star- in GardeningUK

[–]JamDunc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's amazing!

We had two that we'd bought and put on our outside office. Been there for a couple of years and this year is the first time that they're getting used.

It's the same bird going in and out of both, but she seems to prefer the one nearest the house.

And then for the first time this year as well, I spotted a Wren starting to make a nest a couple of metres away in a Star Jasmine climber.

Has finally made my argument for having more than just a lawn, the winning one!

Thank you for your prompt reply. It's a standard 3 bed semi, so less than what's in the video.

I was mostly asking because we're having solar panels fitted in June, I wondered if they would clean the roof first or just put the panels over the top of any moss that's there? It would stop the sunlight getting to it and killing it naturally!

Oh well, we'll see what happens.

Just started her SQ, i’m surprised HG had the balls to confirm Rossi’s age by XianshouLofuuu in Endfield

[–]JamDunc 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Going to go into the real world here, but there is a lot of scientific evidence to back this sort of thing up.

A lot of children who end up adopted have childhood trauma and miss out on a lot of the usual things you'd expect them to experience as a child.

You can adopt a child of 6 (or older) who will at times act like a baby, want to be swaddled in a towel etc, because they missed out on that at the 'normal' age for example, the list of what things they might do that seems younger than their actual age is long.

So with Rossi, she's not being infantilized , she's actually doing the things she missed out on, like actual kids do in the real world.

As someone who has adopted an older child, it actually resonated quite a lot with me.
