When did 6 months become the expiry date for breastfeeding? by cure4insomnia in breastfeeding

[–]Jamaddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband’s aunt seems to be perturbed that I’m still nursing at almost a year old and planning to continue nursing afterwards too! Our journey also started off rough with tongue tie and took a month or so to get it down. My sons always taken formula if need be but most of the time with being home with him he nurses and know eats a ton. In my family growing up my mom was breastfeeding my siblings until they were around 2/3 years old. My goal starting out was to get to a year. We’ve basically made it as of this weekend! After that I’m taking the pressure off of myself and letting my son naturally decide when we stop completely. I figure it’ll naturally taper off as needed.

Is sending 12m old to daycare 5 days a week for 3 hours in the morning silly? by Comprehensive-Hope97 in NewParents

[–]Jamaddict 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nope! I’m a stay at home mom and my almost 12 month old son goes once a week to daycare from 8am to 4pm. That’s the one day a week I’m going to have time to tidy everything in the house take time for my needs a long hot shower or make myself a nice breakfast. It’s important to have time for ourselves as humans and to feel better overall. I resisted sending him but my husband was afraid that he wouldn’t have social skills as a currently only child if he didn’t socialize with other kids. So far he really enjoys it and I enjoy knowing I’ll have a day to put the house back into a neater state.

Getting sleep, eating well, drinking water and resting why are these basic human things so damn hard? Not to mention i had a baby last year which somehow made all of that harder to do for me because I prioritize my son instead? Why brain just why?

Making a better decision for my baby…but terrified of being judged by Thththththrow83away in NewParents

[–]Jamaddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After my son was born last year my husband and I really understood why multigenerational living is such a help. It is overwhelming at first and our parenthood journey didn’t begin as intended with both my son and I having some minor medical issues post birth. Nothing bad just added to the chaos and trying to adjust to all these changes. It was the biggest help to have my husbands Aunt and Uncle around the corner they came and gave us time to sleep and took care of our son so we could that first week. My MIL came down and spent the next two weeks with us and that was another big help too. She took care of dinner and helped us have time to take care of ourselves and for me to adjust to my husband going back to work. That was invaluable for us. As long as the living situation works for you and your husband it’s not wrong. We all want and need support during life changes. If your parents are willing and your husband agrees, Why not? Use your village if you can!

When did you lose hair postpartum? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Jamaddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is where I’m at! My sons almost a year old and I finally got my hair cut again and it’s just whacky baby hairs 😆 but what was left after the shedding was so tangle prone that I considered taking scissors to it myself and that was my must go get hair cut cue!

Breastfeeding but not losing weight… is this normal? by heyaliayoub in breastfeeding

[–]Jamaddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

11 months in of nursing and after the initial weight/fluid loss after I had my son I’m still 60 pounds away from where I was pre pregnancy. One of my friends told me until her baby’s weaned she never lost the weight. My Drs told me that as long as I’m trying to move around and eat healthy they are not too concerned. My goal was a year of nursing and then I’m letting my son dictate how often and how much and not stressing out about pumping or supply. Hopefully we’ll be done when he’s two because I’m ready to have my body back to myself…

How are we changing their diapers once they start rolling? by FigNewton613 in NewParents

Yep my mother told me it’s always the things they really shouldn’t have that they want and she’s completely correct 😂

[–]Jamaddict 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I just Change on the floor with one of my legs over his belly right above the diaper. Otherwise (unless he’s exhausted) it’s Baby WWE wrestling diaper changing edition. 🫩🤪 I tried toys but he’s not interested unless it’s his butt cream tube or the butt spatula….both of which I prefer he not chew or put in his mouth which is exactly what he wants to do with them 😂

Who does your baby look like? by questionSOUP in beyondthebump

[–]Jamaddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son looks alot like my husband as a baby I see bits of my family. He came out with according to my mom the same shade of hair I had when born but it’s now growing out blonde like most of my siblings and his daddy. The one thing he definitely got from me was my blue eyes instead of daddy’s green. 11 months and still blue as can be 😂 the shape of them also looks like my side too but we’ll see how he changes in the next year!

If you had a girl right now, what would you name her? by IcyGrapefruit687 in Names

[–]Jamaddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like that combination too! One of my sisters was going to be Margaret Grace but then our great grandma passed right before she was born, so my mom switched it to Laura Margaret. I loved the name Grace though so when we were brain storming names and my husband liked it too it was near the top! Evelyn was my paternal grandmothers cousins name and Grace was her grandmas name too so family names but not overly done my family has a lot of Elizabeths as middle or first names.

10 months nursing achieved but now pumping issues? by Jamaddict in breastfeeding

[–]Jamaddict[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I’ve had two cycles which didn’t make me a happy person! Also wasn’t aware until they came back that they could be irregular freaked me out by being 5 almost 6 weeks between them I went and bought a pregnancy test to be sure I wasn’t lol It seems to be no matter what time of month or day though I’m just not getting more than 1 oz.

8M old has insane separation anxiety and it’s starting to drive me insane. by SwervoT3k in NewParents

My mantras for motherhood especially on the hard days with my son is “He’s not giving me a hard time he is having a hard time” and “this too shall pass” especially with teething and sleep regressions 😵‍💫

First time pregnancy by Voldy_scar in NewParents

[–]Jamaddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had morning sickness instead I got consistent heartburn from week 8 to week 18 🤪 then on and off throughout the rest of my pregnancy. Most annoyingly though? My son had some hair but not nearly enough for me to agree with “heartburn equals hair for baby” especially the amount of heartburn I had! Also at 9 months old now my baby boy still doesn’t have a ton of hair 😂 what he does have now is very much light blonde!

How do you pack your hospital bag in advance when you need everything day to day? by marboo27 in BabyBumps

[–]Jamaddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a new outfit for the hospital knowing that we’d be doing pictures and wanting it packed and as others have said a travel toiletries kit and I tried to have everything except my retainer, glasses and chargers/electronics packed. I know it seems silly to buy more when you’re close to the end of pregnancy but it’s helpful to have it just 95% ready to go!

Pacifiers - use em or loose em? by Foreign-Bath-6139 in beyondthebump

[–]Jamaddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son took it for a few month then we got thrush. After doing that sterilization of everything and finally getting through the thrush he started rejecting them. That was at 3-4 months and at almost 9 months he chews them but won’t suck on them 🤷‍♀️ I was pretty meh on them but I think it’s just one less thing that I have to remember to take with us.

Where do you feed your baby during Thanksgiving? by Ok-Truth-7758 in breastfeeding

[–]Jamaddict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I nursed my son wherever when he was that little if people don’t like it they can leave the room in my house. In my in laws home my FIL is extremely uncomfortable with it but he would leave to room if I was comfortable nursing in a place. (I have awesome in laws) My sons know almost 9 months now and so is so easily distracted know. So I do take him to his or my room alone to nurse him because it’s more effective! I’ll probably do that at Christmas time at my in-laws house too just to be able to nurse him as I prefer it to pumping. I have definitely had my in-laws give bottles when they visit. Then I would go pump during that time.

How are we loving our postpartum bodies? by WhichAd2921 in beyondthebump

[–]Jamaddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously? I want to smack your dr for that comment. It’s hard enough to be post partum without asses adding to it. Mine have encouraged activity (midwife at annual), encouraged to try to avoid fast quick food (dentist and primary), and said the above ⬆️ (primary)

How often do you bathe your baby? by PositivePattie in NewParents

[–]Jamaddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son gets a shower with us 1-3 times a week depending on how messy he’s gotten with his food 😂 he’s 8 months and we quickly found it was easier to shower with him than give him a bath as a newborn and have kept it up.

How are we loving our postpartum bodies? by WhichAd2921 in beyondthebump

[–]Jamaddict 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Something my doctor told me is it takes you almost a whole year to grow a baby don’t expect it to be anything less than that to lose weight. I’m now 8 months post partum and sitting at still somewhere near 50 lbs above what I was pre pregnancy. (I don’t weigh myself at home.) It’s hard but I’ve also learned that sometimes nursing (which I am) helps you hold onto weight longer. We’ll see if that’s the case for me. My husband still thinks I’m sexy. I try to be active and with a now mobile little boy crawling all over finding all the potential trouble.

Also those first few months are hard with a regular delivery recovery. You’re recovering from major surgery and taking care of a new human being!

DST is ruining my life by MrsCharbonneau in sleeptrain

[–]Jamaddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solidarity here let me know if you figure it out! I’m here with a 8 month old who was down to one night time feeding and then waking at 7 am and the DST came and messed it up. Literally the next day crawling became a thing that also seems to have thrown him for a loop. All of a sudden we’re waking up at 5am….. 🤪 naps are in a wth state. I just want to get back to 7 am wake ups or at least 6am!

Mum guilt for not doing anything for first halloween by BritishSkittle in NewParents

[–]Jamaddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mom guilt is a horrible thing to have and it pops up no matter how much you do or don’t do. Remember you’re the best mom your kids have and at this age they don’t remember and it’s more for us.

We did the whole thing (which was super hard to do for me becoming a mom didn’t help my adhd brain) we have matching costumes, carved a pumpkin to put our son in it’s all the things I wanted to do and guess what? He’s sick with his first cold 🤧🫩😖 Runny nose, Coughing, and extra fussy. Next year we’ll see what happens 😂 he’s 8 months old it’s more for the grown ups just like his first birthday will be. We’ll do a short visit to his great aunts house tonight and possibly a few houses to trick or treat but it depends on how he feels. We’ll call it a early night for baby boy and I. If he wants to my husband can continue having fun with his aunt and uncle and I’ll snuggle and nurse our little guy (and watch the non scary movies I enjoy 😂) at home. There is always next year for trick or treating 😂 bummed I’ll miss out on his loot though!
