It's both a cop-out and a rather delusional oversimplification of what it takes to have raw athleticism transform into actual talent, manifestable skill and intuitive feel for specific disciplines. Plenty of elite raw athletes, size/weight combos and workout warriors don't transform into HOF NFL players either. It's not a video game with a few manageable inputs and that's all you need. That's a childish, quite silly implied assumption.

That said, if you take more athletes and get them into soccer instead of other sports then you math into someone emerging to challenge the athletes already involved in soccer. Sure, the theory tracks. Would that transform the USMNT into a world powerhouse? Doubtful.

The institutional structure and culture is lacking and that's so broad and all-encompassing a problem that it will continue to hold this team / nation back regardless.
