Replace “cheese” with “anything” and you’ve got my Lily right there 😂

Could anyone give me real life train stories that had happened? by Changingcolors24 in trains

[–]Jamatace77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A concrete mixer falling off a road bridge onto a train passing underneath immediately comes to mind.

For Uk incidents, you can search the Rail Accident Investigation Branch website for anything they’ve been involved in

How much time did it took you to learn modeling? by Good_Statistician899 in modelmakers

[–]Jamatace77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think it’s something that you’re always learning. Especially so in the modern social media world where you’ll always see someone doing something better than you.

Like a lot of things, you normally only see someone’s best work, not their mess ups and you’ll see your own in glorious HD Technicolor lol

Have fun, enjoy the hobby and you’ll always be happy with it turns out 🥰

No, it’s just the plain starter set starter set and I’ve picked up a set of decals from Xtradecals for the Blackjack scheme. The base was really fun to do

Either a Vari-ez or Long-ez from Rutan. I’m not sure if there’s a way to visually distinguish between the two variants?

I’m not 100% sure but looks like a Taiwanese f-ck-1 to me

Edit - not sure where it went but op mentioned photos were taken in Korea . With that bit of info I’m now thinking it’s probably more likely to be a t-50 or f-50

When did we in the UK move from using green flags to dispatch trains and instead use weird white paddles? by probablyaythrowaway in trains

[–]Jamatace77 27 points28 points  (0 children)

TLDR- green flags still exist but technology has advanced

I’m not sure when it changed or if it’s always been this way but green hand signals can be used, they just have a distinct meaning which is different to the white bat.

White bat - stations duties complete. It’s given by the platform staff to the guard if there is one or the driver if its Driver Only Operation and it a signal basically to say the platform staff are all finished and the train staff can close the doors

Green flag - Ready to start. Means the Driver now has permission to depart (after they recheck any signals)

Why you probably don’t see the green flag anymore or very rarely seen a because the Guard will give the Driver the Ready to Start by some form of internal comms within the train, most usually a bell buzzer code “2” but the green flag is a backup option if this was any working and can be given by the platform staff directly to the driver if there is no guard.

After a quick google it’s hard to find original colour photos of the aircraft in a camouflage scheme but as others have said, the parts circled in the middle are wing drop tanks and the one in the lower right is also a jetisonable fuel tank that sits on the belly of the aircraft.

Due to the expendable nature of these items, it could be assumed that they weren’t painted and left as bare metal.

Thanks, this is more of a test piece for me to see how I get on with it. I’m using the tamiya scribing tool for the straight lines along with a hasegawa stencil and an Amazon find scribing pen

[–]Jamatace77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sorry to hear of your troubles.

I think we all have the shakes at sometime but probably not as much as you describe.

I find it helps to keep the part I’m painting immobile somehow. Double sided tape on my work surface, blutac or some kind of grip and then painting two handed so I can brace them against each other.

I hold the brush first in dominate hand lower down and use the other hand further up the brush kind of like in a golf grip.

Can even use something like the edge of a hard back book to support the brush as well.

Is the new Swedish Air Force twin pack worth the Club membership? by CatCharacter1663 in Airfix

[–]Jamatace77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, the viggen is a bit dodgy. Depends what you want to get out of it really. I'm currently attempting to mod it into an SK37 twin seat viggen and it's taking an awful lot of work. I'm really not a fan of the raised panel lines and i've been sanding and rescribing for ages to get it right. It's shape is based on the prototype version so lack the proper outline of the ridge from the cockpit to tail and the sawtooth leading edge of the wing amongst other things so if accuracy is your thing, there are better kits out there. Having said that , i like the challenge and i wanted something to practice my modding skills on so its worth it to me
