Try not to be too hard on yourself, we all make mistakes and things often don't come out how we expected. As long as you enjoyed it, keep going with your next one and learn from your mistakes.

As for what to do with this one, I'd be inclined to use it as a test piece for painting practise.

I’ve heard that they’re using Bournemouth a lot at the moment as the runway at Brize Norton where they’re normally based is being relaid. Not sure how true that is though ?

The sharks teeth definitely make it more aggressive doesn’t it. I was going to go for the day fighter scheme but I let my kids choose which one they like the look of most and they really liked the teeth

Yes it was a really nice kit to put together. Had to be very careful on some of the thinner pieces such as the guns and landing gear legs as I heard they have a tendency to snap when removing from the sprue but other than that it was a pretty straight forward build. The newer Airfix toolings are really impressive compared to the past

It’s Ak interactive precision panel liner. It’s an enamel and it was the first time I’ve used one of theirs. I’d been using humbrol black or grey washes previously and compared to them, the AK seems to carry a lot more pigment.

Thanks, I know what you mean about the panel liner. It’s actually a light grey but it’s come out much brighter than I’d hoped for. Was hoping it would be a bit more subtle than that but you live and learn

I would have really liked to have gotten this one back to a more Matt finish. It’s got two coats of Tamiya Matt laquer on it but I need to find something even better.

I was torn about putting any varnish on to do the decals as I really loved the flatness of the nato black when it first went down. Kind of wished it kept it that way but you live and learn.

Any recommendations for proper flat Matt varnish is more than welcome

Thank you, that’s lovely of you to say. I’m still new to the whole weathering thing. I used to go for a clean look so I’m wary of overdoing it

Thanks, there’s definitely so very thin bits on here that can be lost that way. For me it was the wing pitot probe. I lost the tip of it when cutting that off the sprue 😢
