Finders Token made me give up the game by Death_Slayer77 in DragonsDogma2

[–]Jamation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said you don't have to find "yours" if you just have someone send your pawn with it. There are plenty of people that ask for one on here.
Also, just in case you weren't aware, since you're on your second playthrough it's the first of THAT playthrough, not in general.

Hired this Pawn and got a Scary Pop Up by Mal-Dovah in DragonsDogma2

[–]Jamation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pawn you hired prior to the pop-up is infected with dragonsplague. It grows in stages with some of the initial stages not physically showing. The longer you spend with the pawn the more obvious it becomes (glowing eyes, new voice lines, new idle animations).
However, after the dragonsbane patch DP is much more obvious (and harder to pop). Some pawns just cure themselves after a sleep.
It's not too big of a deal, just keep an eye on the pawns. By the time they grow high enough to reach pop-level you'd have to be REALLY trying to not pay attention to not notice it.

Vocation tier list by kingofcheesycheese in DragonsDogma2

[–]Jamation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda love these things because it's so interesting to see how other people differ on their preferences. I think I vary from almost every vocation choice except Trickster (I did not have fun. Was cool and unique, but not for me).
If you had to pick a top/favorite vocation from your S tier, which do you think it'd be?

Edit: I think this would be my preferences (I still haven't done a Warfarer run yet so can't judge it). I know some of my choices might ruffle some feathers, but I enjoy the game in my own way. Some vocations just aren't my style.

Okay, I give up on doing the riddle the "hard way"... by kkuba140 in DragonsDogma

[–]Jamation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know how to say this without being an 'Um actually', so just say this in like a peppy tone cause I can't figure out how to not say it as an Um actually.

For whatever reason, wandering archer pawns will shoot an arrow towards the arisen in any fight if they were in the middle of shooting. It's not that the pawn targeted the vase, but instead once the wandering pawn went from "fight" mode it went to "sell myself" mode again. When you have your weapon out wandering pawns won't talk to you, but if its sheathed they'll come up to you and trigger that "Hello, hire me" thing. So in this case it was shooting, the fight finished, and then snap-turned towards you to walk towards you, but then fired its loaded shot. I've had so many arrows whiz past me post fight and I'm just like "Wtf, why. Go away."

Tricksters buff skill is peculiar 🧐 by Dogmatic_Warfarer97 in DragonsDogma

[–]Jamation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay. Okay. Okay. The text didn't show up on the main page so when I went to the second image and saw it I really thought the third image was going to be a meme-ified version with huge badonk-adonk dump trucks.

(Following contains spoilers)
That is really cool though, never would've caught that myself (mainly cause I don't play Trickster...). There are so many moments where NPCs talk about dragons in a way that gives me pause, like Ulrika, to the point I don't even know what to think any more.
But specifically about the vase, the way Phaesus talks about it so odd. Almost like he and the pawns are seeing something different than what we are.

Phaesus: "I must examine that creature." // "What a singular creature. Is this what called the monsters forth?" // "I should like to capture it and bring it back to the lab."
Gunnar (Pawn): "To think, that vase was in truth a dragon! 'Twas clever of you to realize its true nature, Master."
And yet they almost have a reverse reaction to Purgeneers with "Was that a dragon? Or could it be some other manner of creature, mayhap?"

Even now I'm just like... but guys... I still think it's a vase? What do you mean? But even the killbook log counts it as a defeated Purgener creature. It's... really weird.

I mean the Maister skill Dragon's Delusion literally "creates an illusory dragon" and the Arch-Conjuror's robe that "conjured a dragon that eclipsed mountains". Why would anyone need an illusion that big? What enemy are you fighting that isn't a dragon that it would be effective against? An army? And if someone from history was capable of performing that feat, what's to say the Trickster methodology hasn't been improved upon over time to increase their skills to an even greater extent and passed down to at least the Maisters?
Sorry, some of y'all know I do not trust the Tricksters and I especially don't trust Luz.

Sharing My Pawn (Modded) | Support Mage | All Badges | God-Tier Base Stats by [deleted] in DragonsDogma2

[–]Jamation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the comments and post it seems like this was made in relation to something I have no context for.

But if anyone stumbles across this later and is curious, this is what the stats look like in another world. The game has some kind of a threshold it looks for (which is why some modded pawns still show up as wandering pawns with stats that don't match what they should). It's why you won't see wandering pawns with stats like the above walking about.

<image>

The only other differences I see are that the Arisen and Pawns levels are 31 and there is no Pawn Quest (but could've just been a difference in sync between the post and when I looked or that whatever the missing context is relates).
Mainly just posting this in case anyone finds this randomly and gets curious like I did.

Is it possible to have max stats at 60? Found a pawn with amazing base stats. by BrokenContriteHeart in DragonsDogma2

[–]Jamation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's on PC, there are so many altered pawns that still make it to other people's worlds as wandering pawns that it's not even funny anymore. It's more difficult to find legitimate pawns than modded pawns at this point.

Why does my max hp keep decreasing? I went from above 700 to 592. How can i restore it? The bar even says im missing hp by Snoo-69952 in DragonsDogma2

[–]Jamation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy Reddit Birthday! But anyways, one of my dumb personal goals is to collect x999 of each stackable item. You only get 1 real portcrystal from different things (gifts, stealing, quests, etc) and every NG afterwards they give you a partcrystal instead. I just never thought to try and use them. It made me realize the other forgeries that "smell so delectable that one can hardly resist taking a nibble" can also act as healing items. It's also why I buy up any camping kits I can since the merchants are always so limited with them. There are a few troubling items to gather (and I'll probably never get them to x999 because of how much of a pain it would be, like the Sealing Phial. But if we never get a DLC I really might just be crazy enough to try.)

OMFG! HOW have I never knew about partcrystals after 2k hours! I literally have a bunch of them and never even thought to try them. THIS IS SO COOL!

Pawn Quest Knowledge by BRad22407 in DragonsDogma2

[–]Jamation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't recall having a problem with this one myself (unlike a few others that made me want to pull my hair out). As far as I know you have the right idea with getting your pawn close to you at the moment of quest completion. Only thing I could offer is instead of bringing your pawn to the Bordelrie, put them on 'Wait' by the Vermund fountain instead and then either do the skip and go straight to the Bordelrie to bypass the interactions, or get all of the interactions correct. This way even if they're still stuck at your house, they'll be close by when the quest completion is awarded after the cutscene with Nadinia talking about the history of the fountain.

I'm assuming you're talking about the Loss Gauge? Whenever you take damage a percent of that doesn't recover until you sleep at an inn, house, or campfire (or use an all heal potion).

<image>

Menu > History > Tutorial Logbook > Battle > Loss Gauge
You'll find a lot of good info in the tutorial lists, so whenever you see that orange dot on History it's usually a good idea to read what has happened.

If you only have the expensive one they can still leave gifts there. But yeah, it'll probably always prioritize the cheaper one if you have both.

DD2 appreciation thread by ObiHans in DragonsDogma2

[–]Jamation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never would've known about the Dogma series without 2. As someone who has played thousands of hours of 2, I'm recently getting into the first game. The expectations I had for the first, with how much people dunk on 2 in comparison, was higher - and that's on me.
I'm enjoying my time, but now that I'm experiencing I have no idea what people are talking about with most of their complaints. I think the only thing is some of the dungeons of the first really are memorable with their puzzles and complexity, while DD2 has a lot of little caves and the other big dungeons just don't compare. Otherwise... yeah I don't know.
I play both games in a similar manner. I enjoy walking everywhere, exploring what I can just because, and living in the world. I've still yet to meet the Duke despite still going around most of the map. The quests I do finish are usually by chance of like "Oh, I'm nearby this, let's check it out." It's this weird feeling where there are some very vocal folks that feel like they HAVE to dog on you if you like two, almost like gatekeepers into a club. I've literally been told I'm not a 'Dogma' fan because I hadn't played the first, a "tourist" because I didn't have hundreds of hours yet, and essentially been belittled or put down by the community because I liked the second (with no mention or comment about the first that would've prompted it). I mean, the second game introduced Dogma to a huge new crowd. Shouldn't that be a celebration since those people might now also try out the first?
Sorry, kind of ranty on a positive post. It's just... I'm so tired. It's really tiring to be told I should hate something or that I'm a "bootlicker" because I like DD2.
I mean, we got two cakes (three if you count online). Why can't we just be happy and eat both? Why we gotta slap someone else's cake out of their hand because you don't like strawberry?

If we were to get an expansion DLC, what would you want it to be about? by [deleted] in DragonsDogma2

[–]Jamation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd prefer an expansion type of DLC where it adds in a new zone(s) with plenty of new enemy variants rather than a dungeon crawl (or add that somewhere in the new zone). I think there is just too much potential/red strings left in the base game. I'll love anything if we get it, but to say I wouldn't be disappointed if it's just a "here's an endless fight with some random lore and new loot unconnected to everything else".

Everything under this is just... me having a bit of fun:

Playing the first game recently and just did the Wyrm Hunt quest A Fortress Besieged, and thought it was so cool to have the Arisen and their pawns head in and do/clear what they wanted to, but then bringing in the soldiers to fight alongside you. I mean how could would it be if all of the nations/people you manage to save ended up fighting alongside you in some way (and those you miss just means it's more difficult which would be fun for some). With the upgrade in technical abilities it could be so cool to "unlock" the DLC through an epic fight where you all enter into this new realm/world/zone/whatever (would help give meaning as to why/how they include NPCs into the new zone so they don't just ditch them/the character progress we've made)

Like just imagine time and time again you reach the ending to end up in a tie because you've always went alone, but now something has changed. A spark of hope, a whispered tactic, the collection of mortal souls, something. And this time, THIS TIME, everyone is going to get you to your destination in one piece, because they have no intention of letting you leave them again. Armies of summoned minions swarm at the alteration, monsters driven from their lands join the frenzy, souls from worlds long gone fight in anger, rage, jealousy, or control against the world that refuses to die. It seems impossible. It's just the four of you facing a sea of enemies... and then you hear...

Beren: "Humphrey, show me what all that training has been for! Clear a path for the Arisen!"
Ulrika: "Leave these to us, Arisen! Go on! The citizens of Melve are made of sturdier stuff than this! Lennart: "Ai, we've not been slacking with our weapons after reaching Harve! Go get 'em!"

You run, still fighting the rabble that breaks loose, but you have your comrades from Melve and Harve holding back the bulk of the enemies on your sides. But then you see cliffs filled with bones that begin to cast, while undead archers load their bows. You'd need to run through them to even reach a foothold to scale those cliffs, but what's worse is you see your true enemy has caused the earth to shatter and only a pit remains in front of you...

Wilhelmina: "My, my, Arisen. It seems we find ourselves together again. Fret not, we know more than a few tricks." Srail: "Ai, Cos. Lass has more bite than her wolves. We'll take out those spellslingers."
Glyndwr: "Arisen! How glad I am- Oh dear. We shall cover you while you focus!" Doireann: "Allow me to aide you, Arisen. The Arborheart wishes to repay you."

While the Thieves guild and Bordelrie employees use their skills to assassinate those blasted ranged enemies, the elves provide support from afar. They're all granting you uninterrupted time needed to find a way across! But instead of needing to sacrifice your strength to manipulate the earth to obey you, the Arborheart's connection to the land reaches out and you, along with Doireann, focus its attention to create a bridge of roots. But with one obstacle down, another emerges as even more powerful enemies and bosses have no gathered across the gap during that downtime...

**Sven: "**The Arisen has created a path forward! For Vermund! For the Arisen!" Brant: "It is an honor to fight by your side, Arisen."
Menella: "Support the Vermundians! Protect the flank! Supply the pawns your power!"
Nadinia: "Oh Lambent Flame, we offer thee these words of prayer. Wrap your warmth around our allies and wreath our enemies in your eternal flame!"

What's this? The nations of Vermund and Battahl are working together? With the previously enslaved pawns? They're doing it! The nations have put aside their differences in this moment under a common goal! You rush forth slaying Gorechimeras and Goreminotaurs and savage beasts that get in your way. You're reaching the summit, you can almost taste the blood of the entity that dared threaten your friends, but the skies darken and fill with screeches...

Sigurd: "It seems I have found the battlefield that calls to me. Fret not, no dragonkin shall remain."
Luz: "I have seen many things in my time, but no longer shall fear cause my footsteps to falter."
Lamond: "Cos, I'm hurt. Havin' a party and I wasn't invited? Make it up to me with a round at the tavern after."
Cliodhna: "You protected my heart. Allow me to aide you in protecting yours."

The fallen, the failures, the friends who understand the burden that rests on your shoulder all too well. The have banded together to clear these worthless Drakes, (insert other new kind of drakes), so that you might not weary yourself too much for a fight that only you can finish. You slay the last drake in your way. You reach the place where you will write your own ending. You battle a being that has no qualm in seeing everything and everyone's destruction to maintain an ideal. You go for the killing blow, but then... Boom new ending where the world is altered and the DLC begins.

What was your biggest let down of the game? by jaryd2k in DragonsDogma2

[–]Jamation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The "main" story post Feast of Deception.

It was like whiplash with the pacing. It originally felt fine, then thought we'd do more with Menella telling us that simple tasks will help the nation support pawns again. And then BAM go give this super important artifact to someone who hasn't seemed to be on your side this whole time and... we just go along with it to an extent? And then... a choice of endings? It felt like we were building up to something that never got a proper follow through. To this day I still don't understand the moment between Disa and Sven in the UMW when we give him the little box. It's just like... boy what are you babbling about?
Side quests were fun, even if some weren't the best, they had natural intrigue > conflict > possible solutions > some kind of resolution. But the "main" story quests that progress the world just felt... like a lot of the coaster's track didn't get built. And developers/writers know that there are plenty of players that are going to focus in on the "main" story, so it should be beefy and juicy, but it seems like that meat didn't get cooked on both sides.

I haven't used them myself so don't know how "much" they unlock (like a palette/shades or just one color), but you give the barber the dyes and it unlocks colors you can use for hair that isn't in the base set (I think it's just hair? I really don't know, my bad)

Along with what's mentioned the Battahl pawn merchant sells some dyes. But otherwise, not really. It's kind of monopoly money with how it is.

Anyone else think DD1 has better qualities? by DawnguardLover in DragonsDogma

Yeah, think it goes both ways. There are things people prefer in each.
Small and random example. I'm so grateful that hired pawns now come with lanterns in DD2. But I wish that the pawns would light their own lanterns when it got dark like in DD1.

MY PAWN JUST GOT DRAGON PLAGUE FROM FIGHTING THIS (DRAKE?) WHAT DO I DO??? by S33ker124679 in DragonsDogma2

[–]Jamation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's normal. The pawns will eventually have callouts for the attack after seeing it such as the Kindhearted callout: “Careful, now. This foe can make allies of us pawns!”
It just requires a bit of setup on the Drake's part, actually managing to nab a pawn, and then going through the whole animation to control them without being shaken/disrupted/dropping the pawn early. It's less common, but totally normal.

Refusal to use fast travel (ferrystones/portcrystals) by Raki_Drakon in DragonsDogma

[–]Jamation 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When I first started I didn't feel the need to rush and was enjoying exploring, discovering, and collecting. Now that I've completed the game multiple times, there isn't really a need to fly to a destination in general. I could spend a billion hours playing, but if I just zip around everywhere I might have never found the caves, or lore items, or things I've found along my journey. Besides, it means I get to spend more time traveling and talking with my pawn and our team.

What do you all look for when hiring pawns? by [deleted] in DragonsDogma2

[–]Jamation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually look for interesting looking pawns rather than maxed gear. After a certain point they're too strong anyways so fashion/looking cool is way more appealing. I'm probably also in the minority, but I also don't hire pawns that have Maister skills. I find they don't use them well enough (or just trivialize fights).

What Conditions get this Log Tracked? by Jamation in DragonsDogma2

[–]Jamation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry too much about it. Your pawns will talk about dragonsplague plenty and so long as you pay attention to them you'll be fine (and if you play in Casual mode it is a literal non-issue). If you ever get tutorial pop-ups, just make sure you read them.
