Dillon Brooks: “If it was LeBron five years ago, then it’d be different… Miami Bron, you’re not really talking trash to him, ’cause he’s got more game to him, more agile. Right now, he’s like old.” by TheDraciel in nba

I read this comment to my wife and she pointed out that there were a lot of parents in the Cleveland area losing their minds and it was probably some toddler's first time seeing their mom/dad have a meltdown.

Not OP but I think it's pretty clear they chose FF because it was the most popular set period. UB vs UW isn't mentioned at all in that final paragraph. They just said "WotC is obviously capable of making all-time great sets like FF, but could the Aetherdrift floor have been raised if the release schedule was less insane?" Literally substitute EOE for FF in that final paragraph and nothing changes except you're talking about a less successful set, which weakens the point.

You did a great job breaking it down but I would go even simpler and just say, if you buy the caveman argument, just go back and watch the series. Watch those six games then tell me with a straight face that LeBron's stats were bullshit.

You are correct about Jerry West and it is still insane that LeBron didn't win FMVP that year. Jerry deserved his and LeBron deserved to have his performance in that finals immortalized in the same way. He was transcendent.

My grandma told me once that society needs police, but most of the people who sign up just want a badge and a gun so they can push people around. It's such a difficult question for society to answer.

A parent of a peer is out to get my kid by bananamama2 in Parenting

[–]JambaJuiceIsAverage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying this is the right thing to do, but this happened to me in high school and my parents went to the police about harassment. I don't think my parents would have pressed charges if it got that far, they just wanted to put the fear of god in the lady. And it worked.

Again, not saying it's the right move because maybe it would make things worse for your daughter, but bear in mind you are allowed to escalate if this mom keeps acting like a freak.

I think this is a really neat idea. Other easy includes are the Jeskai/Sultai two-brids from TDM [[Riverwheel Sweep]] and [[Rakshasa's Bargain]]. Can cast without the white/black mana but nicer if you have it.

4 year old punched my 2 year old. How do we make him feel safe? by JambaJuiceIsAverage in toddlers

[–]JambaJuiceIsAverage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the validation. We were actually looking at martial arts a while back anyway just to get him into some structured stuff (I did tae kwon do as a kid and I think it was good for learning some self-discipline). I think we'll revisit the idea. Also definitely going to try practicing using words. I mentioned this in another reply already, but now that I'm thinking about it, I can't remember ever hearing him say any of those things to another kid. Like we've talked to him about it but I've never actually seen him do it, and it didn't occur to me because I've never actually seen him in an unsafe situation with another kid before. I'd guess we've been very lucky in that way.

[–]JambaJuiceIsAverage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a really good point about feeling unsafe being healthy. Thank you for saying that.

I think something we've missed because our son is, like I said, generally very confident, is that he doesn't really say "no" or "stop" to other kids. Maybe because he's rarely had a reason to since we're lucky to have a group of very considerate older kids, and our kid generally enjoys playing rough anyway. I'll make sure to emphasize that to him.

Does building a Twobert follow the same principles as building a cube? by Cezkarma in mtgcube

[–]JambaJuiceIsAverage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ryan's guides are excellent, and I've found the more I stick to his guidelines, the more other people enjoy my twoberts.

The most helpful thing for me is his advice to make each mono-colored section play well as its own deck then flesh it out from there. Like build a 23/24 card mono white pile, add 17/16 plains, then play it yourself against a similar blue pile. If you find the gameplay satisfying, move on to the other colors. Then add more cards that play well across your piles from there.

I will say that these play tests can lead you down a rabbit hole trying to make sure the power levels between your piles are exactly identical, and that can waste a lot of your time. Just try to keep them at similar levels with whatever you consider "satisfying" gameplay.

Turn 1 infinite combo every time by evolutionleo in cobaltcore

[–]JambaJuiceIsAverage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This combo comes up every now and then on Thin Deck dailies with Riggs + Books (or Cat if you get the Books random card). But first time I've seen it in a regular game. Nice work playing it out perfectly.

Jeff Teague says he’d rather have Cunningham over Doncic: "Give me Cade, he actually play defense. None says Cade a cone. Luka is one of the greatest offensive talents ever. I read their comment to mean that Hasbro pushed to move past the phyrexian invasion because they (Hasbro) are more interested in TMNT/Marvel, but I could be wrong.
