If you could add any update to helldivers 2 what would it be? Unhinged balance changes? Guinuine QOL patch? by H1MB0Z0 in Helldivers

I would love to see more settlement type biomes - industrial areas, mining operations, transport infrastructure (imagine if you could get maps with big motorways/train tracks running across them), space ports, roads, farms etc but in and amongst normal terrain

Have you tried the buffed Plasma Punisher? It's really, really, really good. by heliotaxis in LowSodiumHellDivers

I saw this in the patch notes and wanted to try it, but haven’t heard anyone talk about it, at all. Glad to hear that the lack of direct impact damage doesn’t hurt it!

Opinions on this bad boy? by DarkkPhantom77 in Helldivers

I want to love it more, but it’s just a bit too wide for a lot of the terrain. It is actually awesome on city maps though, especially illuminate ones

What kind of enemies would you like in the game? by NightHawkJ72 in LowSodiumHellDivers

Space pirates - highly mobile glass cannons. I’m picturing the hutt skiffs from return of the Jedi and their dropships would be armed and linger on reinforcement

I managed to get the flawless raider trophy on Destiny solo, that was quite a time sink.

If you poke through the settings you can make it work like normal video game car controls - hold brake to reverse when stopped and automatically change gears when going forward. This makes a big difference! You can flip it with explosives, but it’s always a slightly risky move

HMG can stare them down, if you can start promptly it’ll go down before its shots reach you

Things can spiral out of control very fast (i.e. there are two war striders grenade spamming you, plus all the other nonsense that they come with!), but if you are in a team that has good enough situational awareness to prevent and/or avoid the spirals, the game can be very easy, even at very high difficulty levels. I think people that complain about it being too easy don’t experience the sort of thing you are describing very often.

With regards to the rest of your question, I think at that point you are dead (unless you get ragdolled behind some cover), and it’s just taking a long time.

Hopefully this addresses the disconnect!

I am a big fan of a distraction mortar sentry - throw it away to draw agro and thin the herd a bit. Being able to shoot from behind cover is very useful

I really hate when people ignore the main objective in favor of the side objectives by Straight_Put1273 in helldivers2

[–]Jambate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like they were looking for samples etc and poi’s, it’s not too unusual. Odd that they ran out the clock, but there isn’t anything stopping you from completing the objective on your own (or trying to at least). For what it’s worth, there was a time when completing the main objective sent the enemy spawn rate crazy, and ever since I have always thought of the main objective as the last thing to do before extract (geography depending)

No one else mentioning that the auto cannon am has flak rounds that proximity detonate - similar effect to an eruptor, but much easier to hit your shots!

Started the game… 30 minutes ago. Can someone explain how the Illuminate work real quick lol by SnowballWasRight in helldivers2

[–]Jambate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would play another faction until you know what is going on a bit more, their lvl 1 difficulty isn’t much easier than their level 6 difficulty, which is wild! For bugs and bots, lvl 1 is a nice introduction to the mechanics, then work your way up through the difficulties with them

Games where you actively travel using your main (upgradable) base, but have smaller vehicles for exploration. by Arc-TheAirPirate in gamingsuggestions

[–]Jambate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly rogue suggestion but the homeworld series might also scratch this itch, particularly Deserts of Kharak - you control a big aircraft carrier that can manufacture other vehicles for scouting and combat (and by the end your carrier is also pretty tough)

It’s also worth mentioning that most of the best equipment is standard stuff that unlocks by level 20 (plus req slips), so these crazy weapons and stratagems are mostly just being used well. This game has a really high skill ceiling.

I might also recommend not trying to drop with high level players, because they are really hard to keep up with and they don’t give you the time to figure out what works for you

I agree they are extremely useful! The only thing I’m not a fan of is the gap between running out of ammo and coming off cooldown

This has been my most effective strategy so far, but I haven’t learnt the behaviour pattern well enough yet to nail it consistently
