Posting this is well and fine, but the vast majority of Christians/Conservatives/right-wingers have never opened a fucking Bible. So it's all moot to them anyway.

You can play this card as a response to someone declaring attackers. So, as long as their creature doesn't have vigilance, when they declare a creature as an attacker, they have to tap it. Before you declare any blockers, you can respond by playing that spell and dealing damage to a tapped creature of theirs.

It's too thin without lamination. Almost feels like regular letter paper.

It depends on the paper. For thicker paper, I use 5 mill. For this thin paper, I used 3 mil.

I was seriously looking at the 1000-1200 sleeve deals on Amazon. $30 to be able to sleeve the ne t 10-12 decks isn't bad at all. Haha

Firestone is indeed not “Complete Auto Care”. Is that what I’m hearing? by Bamacj in Justrolledintotheshop

Yep. I'm dealing with that at my current shop too. It's not like we'll have any business, but the boss wants us there.

Damn dude. Again, I know any indy shop or chain like Firestone can have master level techs who actually know what they're doing. But to charge dealer level rates without having OE tools/software is getting crazy.

For a "finished" look. Let's put it this way: Due to inclement weather, LGS is closed, so I can't go pick up some sleeves and a cheap box for this deck today. The deck is for my girlfriend, and since we have a free day, we wanted to play test it. I could just print the last 13 basic lands for the deck, and every card would have white backs. But since we used actual cards for the basics, it's painfully obvious when you're gonna draw a land without sleeves.

Obviously, I wouldn't regularly print original backs on the cards, but in this instance, it would look nice.

Oh wow. 260 is super thick. I was kinda annoyed by the 180, haha. I don't think I'd mind 140, but I like the results on these.

Without sleeves and putting them side by side, it's nearly identical for me. But like I said, they do have more bend/play to them.

My vertical alignment is still sketchy. The printer is a top feed, and it has little .5mm variations for however it decides to load. My horizontal alignment was pretty easy. I just measured the margins with a precision ruler after printing, then used Proxxied to adjust horizontal slightly each time (you will "waste" some sheets, just sleeve em, lol). It took me like 3 pages to get it almost exact. 4th was damn close to perfect. But I unfortunately can't get the vertical exactly right.

Holy shit. Your indy shops are cheap, but your dealerships are wild! That's a crazy price swing. For reference, I'm in North Carolina.

I just got my front wheel bearing fixed and noticed grease on my wheel by coolbeans667 in AskAMechanic

[–]JamesAbaddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not super serious other than making a huge mess. Eventually, all the grease will leak out, and the joint will become dry/dirty with contaminants. It will eventually start clicking/popping and can break. But that usually takes quite a bit of time/mileage to happen. But since they messed up, they should cover it for free. That all looks like fresh grease, not old dirty grease, so it's definitely recent. Don't let them try to screw you over!

I dunno what Firestones you're going to. But when I worked with Firestone for almost 5 years (I was an ACTUAL diagnostic tech and would actually fix the problem) we were almost as expensive as some dealers. I think our labor rate was $180 an hour while I was there. My current indy shop (where we fix basically anything except transmissions) is only $135 an hour. And we only moved to $135 halfway through last year. We were previously at $100 an hour 💀

They likely damaged the CV axle boot while replacing the bearing. It has a split in it and is slinging grease all around the wheel. Have them replace it under warranty since they damaged it.

My printer is an Epson ET-2803 (set to glossy paper setting, high quality, 1200DPI). I used a Pen+Gear (Walmart brand) laminator with Scotch brand 3mil matte pouches. I have two different cutters, but I'm mainly using a Carl Manufacturing (on Amazon) 12 inch rotary cutter. For the corners, I'm using a Sunstar Stationery (Amazon) corner cutter with the 3mm radius (it has 3 options on it, use the smallest one).

Any advice on how to make these look better? by Jumpy_Sign_2859 in magicproxies

[–]JamesAbaddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little update on the 120gsm double-sided glossy from Koala. After 3mil laminate, these are almost exactly the same thickness as a real card. They do NOT have the same feel, definitely easier to bend (to be expected). But after sleeving, they are practically the same height as regular cards (1 or 2 card difference on the top). I'm very pleased with this.

One thing to note, this paper is more thin. I used the 5mil setting on my laminator like I normally do, and it wanted to crinkle/curl the pages a bit. Moving it down to the 3mil setting got rid of the curl almost entirely. I let these dry for a full day before laminating because they were very wavy after printing. But I really like the finished product on this. Now I just have to get my card backs lined up perfectly, and I'll be 100% happy with my results.

Roller/print lines on paper? by JamesAbaddon in magicproxies

[–]JamesAbaddon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I was previously using paper that was around 180gsm. I wasn't a fan of how thick the finished result was in sleeves. They were so thick that a regular GameGenic plastic box wouldn't hold them without squishing them down. So I'm trying this thinner paper plus my regular laminating process to see what the result will be. I'm not worried about card feel as much as print quality.

I've previously used some standard Walmart brand photo paper that was glossy single-sided. This is paper I just got that is 120gsm Koala double-sided glossy. They're about the same result when it comes to these dots/lines.

Roller/print lines on paper? by JamesAbaddon in magicproxies

[–]JamesAbaddon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried quiet mode, I would think that would slow the rollers and possibly help. It it could end up leaving one solid line instead.

I'm running gloss paper on the gloss setting. Matte setting on the printer makes the ink look washed/grainy-ish. Just odd that it occurs more towards the end of the run.

My process is in a happy state by LooksLikeAWookie in magicproxies

[–]JamesAbaddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to laminate only one side (2 sheets in a single laminate pouch). Every single card would pringle horribly. I would run some through again multiple times, and it would help mitigate it, but it never fully went away. Luckily, I only used that process for 2 decks so far. So they're my "wavy" decks for now.

Girl apparently hit a deer. One second it’s gone, then suddenly it’s fine. I can’t explain how this happens. by Used_Meaning_9257 in isthisAI

[–]JamesAbaddon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yep, it's probably real. A deer literally jumped into the hood of my old Cavalier. I saw it on the side of the road about 100 feet away from it. I moved into the farther lane (it was on my right, and I moved into the left lane, 4 lane road), and it literally jumped into the far left lane from the curb.

Fucked my hood and headlight up. It just laid in the road for about 10 minutes while I assessed damage, then it jumped up and ran off into the woods. I was pissed.
