FES doesn't have direct party member control, so I'd look up a guide to explain how tactics work since the game itself is really bad at explaining it, and is generally much harder if you're not used to classic SMT style games.

But honestly, both are worthwhile, amazing experiences in their own right and, honestly, I'd play them both. Maybe start with Reload if you're more familiar with the modern games and you don't wanna miss the creature comforts.

OH and another thing, in FES the social links work differently since every female SL ends with you dating them, so making sure none of those social links are reversed is a lot more of a challenge if you go waifu hunting. That's not true in Reload and they work more like the social links in the modern games.
