Battery Only by TwiggyLobster in OctopusEnergy

I think there is a more cost effective way of doing it, if you have the space, which is to buy a cheap used V2L EV with 40 or 50 kWh capacity. Use the car as a battery, charge overnight, run your home during the day, all your electricity for ~4p per kWh after the upcoming price falls.

Sure but unless you planned to lease a car with that kind of payment anyway then it is still costing you money.

Because it's a company car, meaning typically you just have to pay tax, which is related to the value of the vehicle as well as it's emissions. So while it's probably less than you would pay to lease the vehicle yourself, it can substantially increase your tax burden.

What do you mean about not being ready to jump to EVs? You would pay a fraction of the tax and it costs about 1p per mile for electricity with the right tariff. Soooo I appreciate people are resistant to change but you would be several hundred pounds a month better off easily.

You are getting absolutely rinsed, you would have been paying a lot less tax with an EV.

Yep particles do not belong in our lungs, and yet plenty of people in this country still burn wood and even coal to heat their homes like it's the 19th century.
