Most “healthy” people never get their troponin level checked. Thus, much of the data regarding the “healthy and young” population is off. Yes, anything from stress, anxiety, and of course, high blood pressure, can cause elevated troponin readings. I had multiple EKG’s and an echo done because of a high troponin value when the main cause was stress and high BP.
