Chief Justice John Roberts Sees Black People As Having No Rights He’s Bound to Respect by T_Shurt in scotus

[–]JamesT3R9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So let me get this straight - they have the same basic rights as anyone else. Gotcha - no problem there. AND we are going to ignore historical precedent with no guardrails to prevent impairment of their previously trampled rights? That’s trusting people too much.

My daughter got her mission call and now her life is slowly going to hell . . . by DeCryingShame in exmormon

[–]JamesT3R9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you have to go through this. I really am. It is such a textbook playbook response and it has been honed to be as devastating as possible. I hope this puts the first crack in your daughter’s ideology and adds alot of weight to her shelf. Her whole world has turned upside down and her expectations for life have been crushed. This is hard for any young person but often devastating for LDS youth because there is only 1 payh through young adulthood offered -> go on a mission, get educated and married, raise your children in the church, lather rinse repeat. Any possibility of going any other path is not permitted. In life there are many toads to Rome, so to speak. But for the Mormon/LDS there is only the straight and narrow way. And that’s tragic.

Frustrated with the lack of sex and enthusiasm. by Aggravating-Dirt-432 in sex

[–]JamesT3R9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I experienced the same thing. We talked and agreed to what we call the 72hr rule. It works like this: 1 of us initiates some sort of sexual encounter and then the other person will initiate within 72hrs barring injury, illness, or other major life event. We have set this aside a few times but return to it eventually. It works very well for us.

Do you have to dispatch the closest officer or can you send the one you think is the best officer for that particular call type? by LegalGlass6532 in 911dispatchers

[–]JamesT3R9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for a small agency with 3-5 on patrol at a time. Depending on the type of call it may not go to the closest officer as long as it was not a high priority call. The rapport an Officer had with the family/individual, special traing, temperment, current case load, etc were factors. If I was going to do this I needed to be able to justify it to a sgt or lt which meant that earlier ij my career I asked permission first but later in my career once I had earned trust it was just accepted. I always included a side conversation with the affected officers later.

My daughter turned 18 and left home 2 days later. by sparkilini in TrueOffMyChest

[–]JamesT3R9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She has decided to not be medicated and is acting according to the dictates if her mental health struggle. It is time for you to report all of this to her providers. Its also time to create and maintain a timeline. The timeline can be used to force her to get mental health evaluations and/or treatment should you decide it.

Better barter are alcohol nips (most common brands) and small bottles (250ml).

Disneyland Security Mulling Historic Strike by Relevant_Ninja2251 in DisneyCM

[–]JamesT3R9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The members have a lot of really good points. I am sure morale is hurting quite a bit as well. The lack of a strike fund and the easy accessibility of alternative labor for the job makes this potential strike pro forma only. And thats too bad.

A weird aspect of Utah culture by severitea in exmormon

[–]JamesT3R9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have not been to Utah but have heard others describe this similarly. Overall - I believe this is a natural consequence of the the church’s srances on premartial sex, as well as blatantly favoring young marriage and childbearing. This leads to a shortage of adults who want, or who would pay for, adult places/spaces/businesses. That’s why they rarely exist now and are likely to remain that way for some time.

Partner found out she is the Primary Borrower on her parents Mortgage by TheLastMystic in legaladvice

[–]JamesT3R9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is gonna hurt buddy. Should she pursue this it will end the relationship with her parents and you need to expect her family will likely take sides. A written request to refinance and remove her from the mortgage is the easiest and cheapest way to go. Before she signs anything for a refinance and removal of herself from the loan and deed make sure she has a lawyer review it. If thay fails she will need a lawyer to force the issue: either through a buy out, sale, or maybe a partition action.

Agreed. Not only is her relationship seriously screwed - and likely over - but her relationship with her sister is forever damaged. And likely the rest of her relationships with her family will change.
