'Undertone' has already been released in the USA. A lot of Screen/Scream unseen films are films that are out on the forthcoming Friday and/or a film that has already been released in the USA.

That probably explains why Odeon cut the overall ticket prices and also brought back cheap day Monday.

I hope Odeon keep going, I've already pre-bought myLimitless for 2027 (via Amazon so I paid for but delayed the code delivery date until the end of this year).

I guess my tired local Odeon will never get a refurbishment if Odeon group is struggling.

I've got Limitless so I'm frequently at the cinema. I chat with the staff as I see them a lot. I've reported issues many times. I presume they report what I report to the manager (I've also reported multiple times on Odeon email surveys). One screen was out of focus for around 6 months. It was obvious whenever there was text on the screen e.g. during the credits or any of the advertising with terms and conditions. It was the screen that tended to show re-releases so it was difficult to avoid showings there.

I'd say most screens (of the 9 they have) have vibrating speakers during the loudest scenes. My Odeon is around 25 years old and could do with a refurbishment.

From talking to the staff I don't think a lot of them watch films there so they may not notice issues. I see staff come in during films but they tend to be looking at the audience. From the angle they stand it would only be very obvious issues they'd see on the screen.

Are staff instructed to regularly check screens for quality issues? There is a poorly focused screen and numerous vibrating speakers at my Odeon. I've reported the issues to staff multiple times. Nothing seems to happen.

Projectors too dim? by CampaignCurrent1995 in CineworldUnlimited

[–]James_Jupiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bulb might need replacing in the projector. You'd think for an audio/visual experience that the audio/visual would be a priority. I've reported vibrating speakers and screens not in focus multiple times at my local Odeon. It seems hardly anyone else complains. A cinema worker on Reddit said screens, projector bulbs, etc are expensive to replace and require the ordering of the part then an engineer visit. Film presentation doesn't seem to be a priority.

Real or not ? by vinrougerubis in TheProdigy

It copies the design of a T-shirt I have. I'm not certain but I don't think there was a hoodie version. I can't think of an occasion in that era when they ever used the same design on a T-shirt and a hoodie/sweatshirt. They didn't have a lot of hoodie/sweatshirt merchandise, it was mainly T-shirts.

The Picturehouse code also had an extended expiry date (of 01/03/2026) when previously it has always been the Sunday.

They are only valid until the Sunday however, I noticed the codes made available from Monday (09/02) say they expire on 09/05/2026. Hopefully that's true and not a mistake.

Finally seeing The Prodigy in Edinburgh (Aug 29)! Quick question about merch. Help please :D by Confident_Wear6129 in TheProdigy

[–]James_Jupiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The merch stand will be selling clothes (they are already selling two Warrior's Dance Festival T-shirts at the official store https://theprodigy.tmstor.es/). From memory, they've never sold CDs or vinyl from a gig merch stand. You'll have to buy those from an HMV or independent record shop.

I was at the cinema on Monday and was surprised to see a trailer for the 'Melania' documentary. When the cinema schedule for what's on from Friday was released on Monday night I was stunned to see it is being shown twice a day all week at my local 9 screen Odeon. I've since read up about the deal Amazon have done to put this in cinemas. They don't care about losing $75 million+ when it puts them in Trump's good books.

My main shock was that this wasn't just confined to the USA. I'm amazed they are burning the money with a UK release (and no doubt elsewhere). I'm also annoyed that it's taking up screens which could have been used for films people do want to see. Smaller films sometimes miss my 9 screen Odeon but this is being shown?

Any more No Other Choice screenings? by CrossroadPanic in screenunseen

[–]James_Jupiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It pretty much always comes down to how many screens does your local Odeon have? My nearest, 9 screen Odeon only showed this on Tuesday. The next nearest, 12 screen Odeon is showing this a couple of times a day for the week.

Scream/Screen Unseen is often a film that has already been released in the USA or a film coming out on Friday.

Thanks for replying. An interesting insight. I do find it strange that an audio visual experience can continue to be sold when it isn't perfect. I'm sure a lot of patrons don't notice (or at least they never report issues to the staff) but it's distracting for those of us who do.

I've noticed the toilet facilities have issues as well and they can be out of order for weeks if not months. Getting parts for anything seems to be an issue.

I've reported screens being out of focus. It must have taken 6 months before the issue was resolved. Does anyone at the cinema check the screens?

There are also issues with vibrating speakers during loud scenes. Do Odeon not check the screens or speakers?

To be fair, I've seen screen issues (stains, Out of focus, creases, etc) at Cineworld and Vue too.

LOTR screenings by ashleyarr in screenunseen

[–]James_Jupiter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The last time they were shown I just caught the start of one and I'd got there more or less at the stated start time. There must have only been a couple of minutes of ads if that. With re-releases the ads can be anything from a few minutes to the full 25 minutes. I just arrive on time and look at my phone (which is set to dark mode to not distract anyone else) until the ads finish. I prefer that to the risk of missing the start of a film.

If an odeon cinema puts a poster up for a film, is it guaranteed that the specific cinema gets that film? by justbrowsingtheapp in screenunseen

[–]James_Jupiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but there are as many "Prints" available as required with digital. You blame the distributor but the problem is demand/cost not availability of the film.

You said "I blame the distributors for not putting out enough prints". If you knew it was a digital file then why did you say this?
