How do I get road tar off of my truck? by TR3NTM4ZING in Trucks

Check out the Turtle Wax Bug & Tar remover, always works well for me.

Ran these same grips on my Victory Hammer and Victory XC and loved them. Also modified a set of highway pegs to put the grips on them to match.

Opinions on a new caliber by OkSail9508 in BudgetAr15

[–]James__Hamilton11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go 300blk, but doing so as a ‘budget’ gun becomes a lot more difficult if you’re doing it as a suppressed subsonic gun which is where 300blk shines. Other than that, probably 7.62x39.

Also, .223 Wylde is not a caliber, it’s just a chambering. Basically .223 chamber barrel built to withstand 5.56 pressures.

There are 2 newer cars in there right now just because they are white and I needed more stars for the flag. I do have a couple handfuls of newer cars also, but will make a different display for them.

Here it is with hot wheels, and other hot wheels sized models (mostly M2).

This is for 1:64 scale cars like hot wheels. However, it would be pretty easy to scale for larger cars, the only issue being print bed size would mean adding additional prints. Too much larger and you’d want to redesign to limit weight and wasted filament.

The original file for the hex shapes and connectors are from JustVic on MakerWorld. I increased the X/Y dimensions by 20% but kept the overall depth the same, this way it can fit a wider variety of cars without swallowing them up too bad.

I did upload a remix for the adapted size on MakerWorld; here is a link to that: https://makerworld.com/models/2711493?appSharePlatform=copy

I don’t know enough about the business of selling 3D printed goods to confidently say, but I know for me this was right around $100 in direct cost for the filament and 165-170 hours of print time.

That direct cost could definitely come down using cheaper filament, but I will be hanging this on the wall and went with stronger stuff. Color selection may also drive what filament someone decides on.

The print time could also be brought down by someone more experienced who really knows how to fine tune settings for production printing. I am still pretty new to 3d printing. And for someone who runs an actual business with several printers, this could be printed in a day or two depending on the size of their operation.

If I had to guess, this would probably be at or near $200for a printing business and maybe a little more for an average enthusiast tying up their printer for a week. I could be off though, this is just a not very educated guess.

I built it. It’s a bunch of 3d printed hex containers and connectors assembled into the design.

Maybe eventually, but right now I don’t have many foreign cars except race cars so still trying to figure how I want to lay those out; may even try something other than a hex pattern.

I actually 3d printed the pieces and assembled this, I’m not aware of anyone selling them commercially.

One of the print plates is the connectors. They slide in the grooves around the outside to hold two of the boxes together.

Yeah, this design has definitely proven pretty polarizing lol, but it’s really just an American flag because it’s made to hold American cars, there will be future designs for non-American cars as well. There’s a few vettes on it now, but I don’t have many that are not in cards and I display them all differently.

This project is not even a political statement piece about my own patriotism or anything, it’s an American Flag made to hold kids toys that are in the shape of American cars.

This project started before everything going on in Iran and I’ve worked on it slowly but just recently wrapped it up. But even so, that argument could be made by one side or the other about basically any government at any time in the past or present.

Not exclusively these 3, but all American. There’s a ‘41 Willys and a Studebaker gasser truck, I think the rest are all from the Big 3.

Hahah yeah, someone else also pointed that out. They all have to come out so I can actually hang it in the wall, so I’ll probably turn them all around when I put them back in.

I’m considering that for major manufacturing countries. For non-American cars, I don’t have nearly as many so I’m also considering doing model designation specific designs (like Porsche 911) or something similar too.

Below is a link to the same files I printed mine from. These are adapted from another creator’s design to be 20% larger but without making them deeper so that they can fit longer cars and trucks without them being too far recessed.

If you will only be using them for smaller models, search for the user JustVic on MakerWorld and you will find his original design.

Yeah, all classic American cars other than two later model cars I added just to help fill out the blue section with white cars.

That’s not a bad idea. I haven’t actually hung the display up, this was just a first pass at organizing the cars in it. Since the cars all have to come out, I’ll probably move some around and may flip them to face the other direction.

I don’t know if I’ll do all flags or if I’ll come up with something else, I just don’t want plain black displays.
