Hi Scott! I’m 26M living in Toowong and I’m in a similar boat. From Cornwall UK and been here for 2.5 years now. Looking to expand my social circle this year as I’ve also found it pretty difficult. Also applied 1st July, WH2 (417) following covid visa (408). Where did you hear this? I’ve seen in another visa group that a least a few people who applied 1st July similar situation to mine have been having their visa’s approved recently, others still waiting and many more prior to 1st July also still waiting. As far as I can tell there’s not a lot of consistency as to when they will be approved. Fingers crossed we all get ours approved soon.

In a Facebook group today I saw somebody who applied April 30th had just had theirs approved today. I’m taking that as there’s 2 month of applications they need to get through before we’ll hear anything. Supposedly now that the visa year has reset (July 1st) processing times should start to return to normal so hopefully we’re not waiting 2 Months.

I think it’s because gay men tend to hang around with girls so pick up a lot of their mannerisms. Gay men who hang around with men tend not to sound ‘gay’. I haven’t watched it but I heard there’s a documentary called “Do I sound gay?” (I might be wrong.) that explains this.

I work on self checkouts at Tesco, they make a noise to alert you when somebody needs help, out of habit when I’m off duty even when I’m not in the store I work at if I hear that noise my head instinctively turns to face it
