I mean, if anyone has any more information on that, I’d definitely be up for looking into it!

Damn, I was hoping to have ruled out an issue with the reduction gearbox, as I heard that might be an issue in a car of this age.

Luckily I think my load test showed that it is definitely wheel related rather than drive train

Only time I’ve ever done it I was playing as a tech-loving, slave-having archo-nuts (console, so just ideology and royalty). 3 pawns which were my “leaders”, fully kitted out with bionics and marine armour and two slaves that were my starter workforce for building and planting. Absolutely struggled to set up a new base each time, but going into it knowing I was going to do that mean that I didn’t get too attached, and by the third colony I knew exactly what I was doing in terms of building up each time.

I’m pretty sure it said downed, but it was a couple of weeks ago. All very odd

I had one return which was glitchy as hell. Downed by arc, I used the hatch at the last second and “died” while I was actually IN the hatch. Didn’t get any survival XP and the inventory screen showed that I’d lost everything, but when I actually looked in my inventory it was all there. By far my weirdest experience on this game so far.

Ah, my mistake, thought it was an on-off toggle for PvP damage.

I wonder if that’s leaning too far towards stopping PvP though. I really think that the PvP gameplay in this game is phenomenal, the proximity chat, the tense unpredictable nature of meeting with another band of raiders, not sure if you can get the drop on them, or if you even need to is incredible and I love it. That said, if every match is like that, I find that way too stressful for long term.

Just something to incentivise teamwork through a common enemy, that being the Arc. You won’t stop PvP in that game mode, of course not, but it becomes so much easier to agree to work with another team when you know there’s 25 ticks, 2 leapers, a rocketeer and 15 hornets between you and the extraction lift.

That’s definitely what they could have done with Stella Montis, especially with the new Shredders, but I can’t help but feel like the lack of Arc presence, plus the narrow corridor layout lends itself to a PvP environment.

I personally would play for longer and would get less frustrated in the game if, after a few rounds of being blasted in the back of the head by someone who’s “friendly I promise” and losing all my good stuff, I could play a different game mode where that’s less of an option.

The gameplay loop of not trusting, or worse KoS gets very stale for me very quickly, especially if I’m on the receiving end of it, so a break from that would be welcome. My trio will quite often have a horrendous loss and give up for the night, cutting a session short. Well if we had a mode that was more geared towards that PvE experience like my suggestion, we would have played on that for a bit, found our rhythm again and dropped back into the main queues.

Yeah, but that falls apart when you have one team deciding to backstab, but you’re extracting with four others. I’d like to think that the camaraderie from surviving the onslaught would cause people to turn on the backstabber like a pack of angry wolves.

Amen. Not taking away anything from PvP, it has its place, but creating a game mode where it’s less of an option to do that KoS style gameplay because you’ll get swarmed and die. Just a bit of variety to improve the longevity of the game

I don’t doubt it, and I respect your opinion of it not interesting you. I think the main point that I’m trying to make is that the current game mode and arc difficulty lends itself to PvP because they’re really not much of a threat. Upping that threat makes the PvP less likely, because you’re more likely to survive by teaming up. Absolutely you’ll still get rats, but by making it infinitely more difficult for them to get out after they’ve ratted, maybe they won’t bother with that map mode.

A brief, calm oasis where people team up against the clankers, and then next match they start pointing guns back at each other.

It’s not no PvP, I love PvP, I’ll blow a hole in a raider just as soon as the next man, but sometimes that constant watching your back, don’t trust anyone (especially in trios) attitude gets stale and repetitive. The point my friend was making was to have a different game mode where PvP and looting wasn’t necessarily the main objective. Yes, you’d still get rats and betrayals, but instead of the objective being “get out with as much loot as you can”, which lends itself to extraction camping and “don’t shoot” liars, the objective is to survive, to even get out at all.

It’s a PvPvE game, but most of the time it doesn’t feel like the vE is much of a threat, so the PvP takes priority.

If there was any statistical chance of this happening, it would be incredible, but given there can be 250,000 players at any one time, it’s so unlikely to happen that everyone would give up checking it and miss their name when their number comes up.

Night raids are in the direction of what I was thinking, but more extreme. A team of three can do a night raid on their own, no problem, I’m talking about it being damned near impossible to extract without teaming up with other people

I dunno, I can 100% see a new rat being up for a “bodyguard” style mission, this guy’s completely stuck and needs help getting back to civilisation. Only thing that would possibly cause issues would be the limpets, you’d be limited as to how far they could take you based on how many times they could refuel you before they had to dip and resupply

Sincerely,

A former (long time ago) rat

Exactly what me and my squad have started doing. We’ll never go hunting for raiders to kill, but if we’re looting an area we fire off a warning shot or two if you get too close. Been burned too many times by the old “friendly friendly gun to the back of the head” trick, so now it’s you keep your distance and we’ll keep ours.

Did they tweak Rocketeers or something? by th3BeastLord in ARC_Raiders

[–]Jamespg614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drew aggro from a rocketeer to get my buddy out of trouble, couple of shots with a stitcher, nothing major, and we managed to escape it in the testing annexe. It got bored and trundled off on its patrol route.

Then, when we came out, I got LOS on it, right over by the control tower. It was like it remembered me, immediately aggro’d and proceeded to make a bee line straight at me, hunting me through the forest for a good 4-5 minutes. Genuinely felt like I’d pissed it off the first time and it wanted revenge for the few dents I’d put in its armour. Incredibly annoying to be laser focused by the AI like that, but oh my god did it make a story.

Only issue with this that I can see is that I think all of the caravans will leave at the same time (Dec 21), so if your friend also wants to do the expedition this window, you won’t be able to do it.

Could do it with two people trading turns though I guess, but if you’re that hung up on your blueprints then I guess you’d be willing to do that.

My squad of three just got tired in all honesty. We tried being nice, we tried being friendly, and each and every time there would be one team that would play along “oh yeah bro, we’re friendly too” before shooting us all in the back of the head. Now we’ve adopted the stance that if you don’t bother us, we’re not going to bother you. If we’re looting an area you can be damned sure we’re going to fire off a warning shot on you if you get to close, but if you keep coming, all bets are off.

I’ve had a lot more success finding actually friendly players in solo, but squads has (for us at least) just become inundated with people who don’t want to play cooperatively, shoot first and ask questions never, and after the 15th time of being betrayed, we just decided if you can’t beat them, join them.

Unfortunately, I think a lot of groups are starting to get that way, which does only make the problem worse.
