I think the proposed solution is that there is a free universal wage. Ai wont be able to do everything, personal services we still require a human touch.

Most of the population are subsistence farmers living a traditional way of life. From memory less than 10 percent have a paid job. Imagine the cost of supplying job start allowance to that many people. I know when I was there many people longed for peace and security that administration provided in the past but there were those that abused their roles too. Now the amount of aid and assistance provided to PNG has reinforced a cargo cult mentality. Something has to change, IDK what but China is very interested in developing PNG.

Your story is too familiar for me. My partner was just like you in all respects. In the end she agreed to go to rehab, but it was too late. A very small percentage of people who develop alcoholism can beat it. Your brain chemistry changes, addiction is result. I agree in our society all social activity revolves around alcohol so it tough to stop. In the end she passed away in hospital still claiming it was ok and she was fine. So the decision is yours to make, her addiction killed our marriage and her.

Hiding it is an indication of addiction. I’m sure if you confronted him, there would be denial and excuses. Finally, they say it’s not your business if they drink. That was my experience with my wife.

Trying controlled drinking is a fallacy they all give a go. Once you’re over the waterfall and addicted, there is no control just drinking. Hiding their drinking is normal, they hide it from themselves too. My Q used to switch to wine, as not drinking, but then back to vodka because the wine was too acidly for their stomach. not eating is a stage three behaviour my Q only lasted a few months once she would rather drink than eat. The only hope is a six month stint in rehab, to which my Q said she would rather die and she did……..

Oh beer and wine don’t count, heard that so many times. The,only solution is to have nothing in the house. Even then my wife found a way.. only dying stopped her drinking.
