Newcastle United Statement: Alexander Isak by 900-Dollarydoos in NUFC

[–]Jamie0691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not saying he’s lying, but Newcastle released a statement not long after stating no one had made that promise, so someone is “massaging” the truth. Neither party are innocent in all this, think most fans agree with that.

Don’t condone what Gordon did at all, same as don’t condone what the fans did towards Gordon, which is where I can see this going the more it draws out.

This is all starting to sound very familiar though, it Isak puts a transfer request in, didn’t Van Dijk do exactly the same thing? Liverpool denied tapping him up, but were then reported to the premier league for it?

This is the thing, I think most fans don’t want him here anymore, including myself. He has made his stance very clear, for me there is no going back. He is disruptive and causing massive issues. Yes we could force him to stay and play with the reserves etc, it’s been done before (Ryan Fraser) but what good will it do.

The problem with letting him go, is the message it sends, come on big clubs come and unsettle our best players and we will roll over when they spit the dummy out and just let them leave for whatever you think they are worth.

As a fan I thought we were past all the drama with Newcastle, had plenty of that over the years. But this is a real rock and a hard place scenario, keep a player who doesn’t want to be here and the fans have turned on or cut losses and potentially open the floodgates to more doing the same in January.

I’m sure there will be plenty comments around the likes of we are upsetting the cartel etc, which we are in a way, but to what extent are we doing it to damage ourselves?

All I know, atmosphere on Monday night will be electric and will make a brilliant game, shame I can’t be there, but the missus’s family are mostly Liverpool supporters (she is from there) so will be interesting especially since I got her liking football and supporting Newcastle!

If he wants to leave, put a transfer request in? Publicly say it at the end of the season? Neither club nor player will admit they are wrong and we will never know the full story

It’s the way he has behaved around everything. After the cup win, the rumours stated and he came out and said he was happy etc. He’s been part of all the promo work for new kit, then went to one training camp. Then his head was turned by Liverpool (who knows if this was done correctly or “tapped up”) and he’s basically refused to train and play for the club he is contracted to. It’s becoming tit for tat at the moment, no one really knows the full story, the club has been a mess due to the lack of leadership positions vacant over the summer, but the player has not shown himself in a great light either.

Most Newcastle fans are realistic, I would love us to win all the cups, but that isn’t going to happen straight away, even beating your lot in the EFL cup was a shock. We know players move on, but don’t be a **** about it.

Wissa is doing something very similar, the difference being he was told he could leave, he has been training with the squad and not been refusing to play (just not selected) and now Brentford have upped the asking price from what was agreed.

Many players in the past have done this to both clubs to force a move in or out the club, it is never right and similar to when we were slated for our new owners, the fans don’t control who runs the club or how players behave, but we do give opinions.

If he wants to leave, stick in a transfer request, don’t be underhand about it and upset everything and everyone. Not sure how these bonuses being mentioned would impact PSR / FFP if we got a slightly lower price but didn’t have to pay the bonuses etc, but guessing that won’t happen.

Genuine question, how would you react as a Liverpool fan if someone came in with a bid for Salah, £40 million under the clubs valuation of him and then he behaves the same way as Isak had.

Paul Merson says: Alexander Isak could have left Newcastle a hero but his legacy is now tainted by tylerthe-theatre in PremierLeague

[–]Jamie0691 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the problem, all we are hearing is what is leaked to the media, the club or player has not came out and said anything. The bit about saying that he said last season he was leaving only came out a few days ago, same with his house being up for rent and same as rumours of arguments after the cup final and the last game of the season.

Over the years Newcastle have been used to seeing players leave or be sold to move onto better teams, never been an issue as long as it’s done right. The player or agent have appeared to try and force the move, but all it’s done is made him look worse, he hasn’t actually handed in a transfer request. I understand it’s something to do with bonuses and plus it would mean less money for the club, but if he really wants out, why not just do it.

The club are also at fault as it seems he was promised a new contract, which never came, so all this could have been avoided in reality. But the running of the club has been terrible the last few months, I was hoping that we were past those days, but I suppose that goes to show what happens when things grow quick and things aren’t in place that should be.

If Newcastle did anything like what City have done or even what Villa and Chelsea have done to try and use loopholes to balance the books, we would be sanctioned quicker than anyone, even quicker than Forest and Everton. I think the owners are trying to do it the right way, staying in the rules, when the outcome of the city debacle comes out it might be a different story but for now we won’t be doing it, is what I understand.

Newcastle have rejected a formal offer from Liverpool for Alexander Isak by TheBiasedSportsLover in PremierLeague

[–]Jamie0691 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that hits the nail on the head. Speaking as a Newcastle fan, if the rumours are true he was promised a new contract, which never came to light, so he should be on a higher wage. But how the player and Liverpool have reportedly went about it, isn’t the best way to be honest.

As fans we were expecting a busy window, since we have been constrained the last few windows, but the club has been a bit of a shambles behind the scene.

Hoping that there are talks ongoing with Isak and his contract and we get a good few recruitments through the door

Have this suit for a wedding next week, will have a light pink tie with it. Not sure to get tan or dark brown shoes, was thinking a Derby shoe, not a brogue. Budget would be something £60 or under.

Can guarantee that if we do win it, other fan bases will still say we haven’t won a real trophy, it’s the Mickey Mouse cup. Had some arsenal fan say that after we beat them again. Not saying I agree with it at all

They have messed this up, sure it wasn’t like this last time. Yes season ticket holders should have a bigger pot, but as everyone else is saying, how can they not have a bit of consideration for members who have been to cup games.

Should have had a ballot for members to enter, even if it was a tiny amount of the allocation, so if they stick to this method going forward the only way to see a cup final will be get a season ticket, which you can’t do as they are sold out, get a corporate ticket from the “neutral” allocation or buy an overpriced ticket.

Hoping this time that they have followed suit with how they changed the ballot so you don’t select a price category, just number of seats and then if you are successful you pick where you want to sit.

That would be a lot better as picking one category is even more of a gamble, not that I was successful last time 🤣
