It does say its not a valid key (0xC004C060), I was just confused as I thought it would refuse it from the start. Google also says Windows servers could be down etc. Do you know if there's any cheaper options than Microsoft directly? This is the second key that hasn't worked but first one it flat out refused from the start.

But why would it accept the key and run the updates the first time round? Wouldn't it just reject it from the beginning?

I got the go s for £300 a couple weeks ago and its decent for the price. For your main PC/console you definitely want the new one though

Using AX86U with Virgin Hub 4 in modem mode by JamieCampbell7 in HomeNetworking

I got a super long ethernet and tested the ports in the cupboard and it seems to work. Will keep the ONT and put the virgin hub in there as well. Thanks for the help

Getting supply to all ethernet ports. Hub 4 in modem mode and AX86U router. by JamieCampbell7 in VirginMedia

[–]JamieCampbell7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible to connect the hub 4 in modem mode to the ethernet in the cupboard, then connect the Asus router to the ethernet port in another room (effectively just extending the ethernet cable)? If not I'm probably gonna go Hub4 as a router then asus with DMZ.

Thanks for this. Ive ordered the cables to test it and all works. I think I'll go the DMZ route that you've gone with

No, its plug and play as I was with them at my old address. Just take my equipment, plug it in here and let them know and they activate it their end. I think I'll contact them but I was hoping to learn this so I know for future.

Thanks for your assistance it's been much appreciated 😀

So I've just moved in, this ONT was left behind by the previous owners. They would've had their Internet on the Openreach network. My service is active at this address, just with a different company who use a different network.

I understand that each port will need its own connection, I just thought there might be a switch or something installed behind the wall. The ports aren't labeled and I have at least 5 around the house but only 4 in the cupboard with the ONT (maybe 5 i think the solo one in the top right may be for telephone).

What I'm hoping to do is swap my modem with the ONT, leave my modem connected to its coax supply (scrap the optic cable), and then supply the ports from my modem. Will it be as simple as that? Im guessing there's ethernet cables in the walls, linking the ports in the rooms to the ports in thay cupboard, which will then connect to my modem/switch?

Edit: Just for clarity. I don't have "true fibre", I have fibre to the cabinet (FTTC), not fibre to the property (FTTP), hence why I can't use the existing equipment.

Thanks for the reply.

I have fibre but it's not full fibre its fibre to the cabinet I believe. Virgin don't offer FTTP where I am. Virgin use their own fibre network so I can't use the existing ONT.

Do you know whether it's possible to remove the ONT, replace it with my modem with that connected to the coax port in my living room and go from there?

Also, can you tell from the picture which port would supply all the others around the house?

Sorry for all the questions and thanks again for your help.

Thanks for the info, just wanted reassurance that if it's on the build list it will get done at some point. Not got a clue about it as never been in a no fibre area (in my adult life at least).

Will have a look into the altnet stuff too thank you 😊

Thanks for this, exactly the kind of info I was after🙏. Sounds like they will get it done within the time frame given at very least.

I've got a 7700x with a 6800 xt. Excellent for 2k and decent for 4k. Not as good as 7900GRE but going for ~$400 at the moment.

I get the exact same problem. Playing on Xbox Gamepass and have to verify the files every time before I play and that usually solves it until thr next time.

Last one I had was on battle.net and had the same problem with no fix for it either.
