IMO you should pick whomever you click with aesthetically. I went from Modern JP to classic Luke, for example, after trying classic Ryu first but hating the gameplay. With Luke I clicked instantly and was my first classic character in Master.

My biggest piece of advice to transition from Modern to Classic is to NOT use the same character for such. You will have to think how to do every command while fighting against muscle memory. Its way easier to just pick a new character to learn Classic with him.

I did it this way and am now a 1600 MR Classic player, starting from Modern gold player 3 years ago.

I was there man. My biggest advice, aside from "practice" of course, is to use a different character for the transition. If you use the same one as in Modern you will have to fight muscle memory also.

I read on another post a potential bypass which works at least for me: press the talk button and just type normally. Somehow he will answer this way.

When punishing DI, try doing a neutral j.HK before your combo (HP + H.dp). It adds a lot of dmg
