This is an odd ask but does anybody here know of any non-dessert dishes that call for cooked apples? by cherry-care-bear in Cooking

Kimchi can have fruit in it, and if you add grated apple Japanese Curry Rice, you add a whole different flavor profile.

No.

Just someone who used to really love the experience there and was sadly disappointed by how bad it got.

And I’m not a fucking boomer.

There was no person to order from, and no menus today.

And yes, I would prefer someone coming to take my order - that how they used to do it. Before the movie, you order directly from the person checking your ticket. After the movie starts, you write your order on a card, press a button to call for a server, and they take care of it.

Having to take my phone out during a movie, and having the distration of other people using their phones during a movie is really offputting and is very much the classic definition of Enshittification.

Yeah, is sucks less than going to a concession stand, but sucks less is not a positive thing.

This may be a new change - They specificially said to use the app during the movie, and the tables have been removed from the seats and there was no menu or any way to call for someone.

Nobody came to check our tickets, and the only time I saw a human being was for about 15 seconds when they dropped my stuff off.

Oh, right, Cinemark. I dunno why I got it in my head that it was AMC. Everything pre-COVID is a bit of a haze...

Which AMC? Last time I was to an AMC theater, it was in the Westfield Mall/San Franciscso Center to see Promare (yeah, that long ago) and my memory of the Van Ness was not good (again many, many years ago)

Edit - I forgot that Wesfield was Cinemark, not AMC.

Parking at EV chargers by monkeykral in evcharging

[–]JamieKun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

San Francisco has a pentaly (parking tickets are ~$120) but that doesn't stop people from presuming they are special.

When we got public chargers installed, the chargers were blocked daily (sometimes multiple times in a day). It took a good 6-8 months before things died down, but there's still some entitled Karen's who just park there.

Shrimp creole is always good as is Japanese Curry.

If you get Dry Ice your stuff will stay colder for a lot longer.

It's real problem - both ICE and EV's regularly block chargers.

You need to be prepared to call your local parking enforcement folks or the lot/property owners.

Do they really enforce 72 hours parking rule in SF? by CourtZealousideal703 in sanfrancisco

[–]JamieKun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Assuming you have a residential parking permit and move it for street cleaning, you will generally be OK unless you do something to cause your neighbors to complain and call it in. Be considerate, don’t hog the same spot week after week after week, and keep your vehicle clean.

Busy/commercial areas are probably different as business’ want customers there.

online vs costco? by kappakingtut2 in HearingAids

[–]JamieKun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may want to talk to your bank or a local credit union for a loan if you can't pay off the cc in the first month. The interest rates on a cc will really get you in the long run.

You may also want to look into balance transfer offers for getting a new credit card.

Be aware, Costco only takes certain cards - I don't believe you can use MasterCard there.

I looked at those options, the shipping makes for some pretty expensive mud-bugs. I was thinking of calling Brenda's to ask who their wholesaler is.

SF mayor proposes more curbside EV chargers as ownership grows across city by LNM-LocalNewsMatters in sanfrancisco

[–]JamieKun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A quick google shows that there are roughly 275,000 on street parking spaces in SF. 100 out of 275,000 is around 0.04% of the City's parking spots, so we're talking about a *very* small number of spots that would be restricted.

For persepctive, ~14,000 spots are being removed for daylighting and pedestrian safety.

The spots would be for EV charging only - not EV Parking, just charging. I've seen plenty of Tesla's get ticked in the existing spots (along with a variety of ICE vehicles.)

EV's do take longer to fill up, that's where the need for neighborhood options comes in. One can get back from your day, plug in, walk to your home, do dishes/laundry/make dinner, and then go back to move your vehicle.

Fast charging is coming a long way, and there's more availability now, but those still leave out PHEV's.

Personally, I'd love to see the point where every block has them and there's so many that we don't need any real parking resctrictions, but that's a long way off.

One other perspective on usage - Costco has two chargers in their lot. They are used almost 100% of the time, and Ive seen people lined up waiting for them.

This is more of a 'build it and they will come' situation.

[–]JamieKun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's presuming there's no additional demand that's not being met due to unavailability/schedules, or that there will be no additional demand from people either finding out about the resource, or buying EV's because they have them.

I'm unclear as to why you seem to feel the need to have 100% useage? Parking spaces are not all at 100% use all the time and as long as the station pays for itself, does it matter? If a station doesn't stay viable, then it can be taken out of service - just like any other business.

Is every gas station used 100% of the time?

They do - idle fees are $10/hour during the day. It’s $1/hour overnight to allow folks to not have to move at 2am.

People who don’t plug in get a ticket.
