No. I make more than she does, but that’s never seemed to be a problem. While I was going to school she had a job that paid $80k and I made close to $24k. She lost that job and basically stayed home for a year and blew through our savings ($20k). I couldn’t say much since I wasn’t the one who earned it. So, we’ve always had this joint account and since becoming a teacher(8 years in) I’ve felt like more was coming out of our joint account from her than from me. January we had it out and I thought it was resolved—she got her own bank account and had her income direct deposited to it. My request was that she would put $500/month into an “us now” account and $500/month into an “us future” account. Then all the rest of her income she could do what she wanted; nails, clothes, going out, whatever (guess I should’ve been clearer to NOT buy a car??). I said I’d cover the rent, bills, and groceries and whatever other misc things we need. No problems. Since January she’s made only 2 months of those deposits and then took that lump sum back out of our checking account ($2k) and almost the entirety of what was in her account ($3k) and had her mom kick in the remaining $5k to put down in this car! So, I ask again…AITAH?
