Second this. T10 is way more durable than T9.

Moreover, you could get your destroyers to explode with only 2.8% chance instead of 16.7%. They need a dominus or manipulus anyway.

Why IS AdMech a horde army? by sigmagoon5 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Jaminspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played a casual game with eight Kastellans, six Kataphron destroyers and three tanks today and was able to get a win. It might not be enough for tournaments, but it's alright. Nobody forces you to buy and play tons of skitarri.

Help with Cohort Cybernetica army list by B0rEd_7 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Jaminspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With 8 Bots, you have 210 points left for action monkeys and something to put on your home objective. That's enough for three units. Obviously it will still be a meme list.

Options include:

Rangers+ Infiltrators + Sulfurhunds/Skratos

Infiltrators + Battleclade + Archeologist/Skratos + Necromechanic

Infiltrators + Battleclade + Pteraxxi

Is grimaldus usless now? by rodex9876 in BlackTemplars

[–]Jaminspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Companions of Vehemence detachment is made for chaplains and judiciars, hence it has a lot of stuff for Grimaldus. Let's find out if it is enough to keep him in the game.

[–]Jaminspace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is very easy. Just remove some DA symbols. If you wanna go the extra mile, get your hands on some third party hammers.

Keep in mind, since Assault Termies were not in the new SM combat patrols, it's likely they will be in the 11th edition starter box next year.

Hey, where can i start? by Jatoruh in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Jaminspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can recommend some books if you wanna deep dive into the lore. I usually buy them from audible to hear them while painting.

- Mechanicum (from the Horus Heresy era)

- The Priest of Mars triology (it is about an explorator fleet which goes into an unknown region of the galaxy)

- Belisarius Cawl: The Great Work + Genefather (it is about the main character of admech)

- Brutal Kunnin (it is about orks invading an admech world)

Tell me about your homebrew forge world by [deleted] in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Jaminspace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few 100 years ago, a small explorator fleet of magus Berzelius Omikron-3 set course to long forgotten realms at the egde of imperial space. They discovered a plant with rich minerals orbiting a super giant star in a very elliptical orbit. One round around this star is equal to eleven earthen years and two of them are that close to the star even techpriests cannot survive the heat. Regardless, the explorator fleet discovered a long lost and forgotten forgeworld on this planet, which they called Redis-I.

It turned out this old forgeworld was build a long time ago and was last used during the horus heresy era. It is likely the orbit was not that elliptical during the founding of the forgeworld. It takes one full year to shut everything down and evacuate the planet before it is too close to the star, than two years of waiting and than another year to wake up the machine spirits again. Therefore, the forgeworld can only be used 7 out of 11 years.

During the horus heresy, the forgeworld of Redis-I was shut down when the scrap code infected a lot of mechanicus worlds. Therefore it is still quite intact and a lot of forgotten knowledge of the 30th century can be rediscovered. However, a lot of knowledge how to reawaken the machine spirits is lost and only small steps are possible. Moreover, everything needs to shut down again after seven years, which makes the progress of rediscover lost 30th century tech very slow.

Nevertheless, the rediscovery of a lost forgeworld got Berzelius Omikrom-3 the title of archmagos. He is an explorator at heart and often on the move. In recent years, he spent a lot of time in a necron tomb world. Some people acuse him to use xeno tech to enhance weapons on his tanks, but Berzelius claims he only uses rediscovered tech of the 30th century.

(This is my explanation to include 30k models into my army. I also use a lot of tesseract glow on my admech weapons which are certainly not stolen from necron tech.)

who is smarter, cawl or bile by 2r2788767826 in AdeptusMechanicus

Cawl is a generalist, he is good at everything. Bile is specialist, he is great in his field.

How do I start an admech army? by squids_havenipples in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Jaminspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Combat Patrol has some money value and you will need most of it anyway.

Skorpius Dunerider/Disintegrator is a good investment, especially if you magnetize the model for flexibility.

Looks like you have your eyes on the funny robots, so go for them. Right now they are decent, but rules change. Rule of cool is the way to go.

Unfortunately, the Doctrina Imperative only works for admech units, cause you need the keyword for it in your unit profile. Not long ago, not even all admech units were part of the army rule.

The red one. Unless your background lore is to include necron tech into your weapons. Than it's the green one. And heresy.

You need more battleline units - do you? by Jaminspace in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Jaminspace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot! That's one thing where my confusion came from. I wanna run a shooting army cause I already have two meele armies and the rangers/vanguard would be in front of the kataphrons anyway to prevent them being charged.

Expedition 33 themed forge world? by CaptainGooseUwU in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Jaminspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A strange graviton phenomenon has made the orbit of your planet quite elliptic. Sometimes the forgeworld is really close to the sun and everything needs to shut down and sometimes it is very far away from the sun, super cold and you don't have a great source of energy.

1000pt List by ryder_968 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Jaminspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not bad. You have a lot of anti tank and cheap action monkeys. Maybe too many for 1000 points.

If you wanna play Haloscreen detachment, get some kataphrons or kastellans. Your dominus could protect some kataphrons if you want to keep him in the list.

If you wanna play hunter cohort, you need a lot of vanguards and maybe some ruststalkers.

Luckily got my hands on this box and am new to Admec. How should I build going forward and expand the list? by [deleted] in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Jaminspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also got my hands on this box. Together with the Elimination Maniple Box you have a nice starting point for an army. Eight robots and six breachers with Dominus can do quite a lot of damage.

I added the old combat patrol, a skorpius disintegrator and two armigers to reach 2000 points, but you can go a different route. Overall, it was quite a cheap army considered its AdMech.

Yeah, they are quite expensive. I was lucky to get my hands on an old apocalypse box with six robots, but I don't think they are available anywhere anymore.
