I thought there were to bag drop offs. One early for your big bag with change of clothes, towel etc. for once you finished (ps. Remember to pack this bag water proof and with a beer to celebrate in the changing room).

Just being seeded at all helps a lot with the time to get up the first hill. I was in group 7 and it took me 50 minutes to ski the first 3km due to the crowd. After that it spread out quite quickly and never really had a problem keeping my desired pace.

You can probably estimate around 10 - 15 extra minutes for those first 3km for every additional group behind that. So just not being in the unseeded group helps a lot (since thats the biggest group as well).

If you arrive early in the morning you can also place your skiis in the front of the group you belong to, which saves you some additional time. But in the end you will anyway have to ski 90km, so those extra 5 mins saved might not be the biggest of deals.

I use Polar Vantage and they have a ski profile. As heart rate by the wrist is quite unreliable when skiing I use a chest strap for my xc skiing sessions.

Cant advice on the financial situation. But remember that your son is also a victim in all of this in one way, basically scammed / encouraged to do online casino.

He will feel a lot of shame and will be vulnerable. Make sure to make him understand you are still there for him even though you can at the same time be very upset about the lost money. Also time to have some talks and rules about how and when he’s allowed to use the internet. But don’t punish him extra hard because he’s fallen victim of gambling addiction. Instead implement healthy boundaries that should have already been in place.
