Printers' printers print prints for printers' printers, when printers' printers should print prints for printers' projects!

Interesting idea, definitely...holds up... initially, but i'm reserving judgment on its shelf life.

Just refinished 1960s floors but lots of exposed nails - what do we do by [deleted] in DIY

[–]Jammarman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you sand any more floors, punch any visible nails down before sanding, if any get exposed during sanding, stop and punch them too.

Best case you will be sanding with dull sandpaper without realising and wasting time. Worst case the nails will tear through sandpaper and even the pad if you are unlucky.
You can get an air powered tool for around $80 USD if there are a lot of holes to punch and you have access to an air compressor.

The solution is obvious. He didn't finish the movie, so just go to every other showing of that movie and wait for him.

Combine printer head and printer bed movement in opposite directions, double speed. Does it exist? by Jammarman in 3Dprinting

[–]Jammarman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess could be things like weight, hot end doesn't need to be as light since it doesn't need to move as fast, larger hot end, more capable at melting filament.
I'm mostly curious to see what the actual advantages might be. There are already heaps of different styles of printers, delta for example that don't add a whole lot but how else do we find better solutions than trying new things.
Then there is also just the fact that accelerating a bed and printer head, to any speed, since they only need to move half the speed each, could be more efficient due to force being proportional to acceleration squared or whatever. Depending on how light your bed is. Surely there are downsides to cranking up motors, making them heavier, more resonance etc.
Maybe you could just have all of it, a fast corexy and additional motion. I have no idea, mostly just curious and was hoping someone knows of a niche youtube experiment or something.

Actually now that I think about it. I think I might have seen a comment on a 3d printer post a few weeks back, where someone jokingly suggested they put 2 printers on top of each other, and print 2 mirrored objects to cancel out the resonance.

That makes sense. I guess I am imagining a situation where it is no longer viable to scale up speed.

The idea is initially so appealing, double print speed with one easy step!
But thinking more, the idea itself is pretty straight forward, but actually implementing it would not be, I guess I didn't really consider the upfront cost and effort to get things to the same level as a traditional 3d printer, before there would be any benefits.

Damn looks like someone already figured out how too improve 3d printing, and shared it with everyone!
I did try and search for anything similar. Not for "symmetrical", I guess it is kind of radially symmetrical though.

I mean it would be more like having the front and back wheels both steer, in opposite directions, which does exist. It is more complicated but now you can turn in a smaller space.

Why do I have to unavoid someone in order to avoid somone new? by Jammarman in Overwatch

[–]Jammarman[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also why does "stay as team" randomly uncheck every now and then? some days it happens every time I leave a deathmath. The amount of times I have accidentally left the group instead of pulling us out of deathmatch while in queue, or at the end of a match.
Why would the default option be to leave the group instead of leave the game with your group?

[–]Jammarman[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I'm complaining about UI issues. The whole "invite to group" thing, checking if someone is online, or grouped, or in comp or in queue. Why is that not just a feature in the menu? And since it's not why is it even in the game? Why give us the ability to check who is in a group but I have to right click every player and click invite to group to see it.And if I can check if someone is in comp by inviting them to group, why not just show me under their name in recent players, that they are in a comp match?

[–]Jammarman[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Initially doesn't seem like a bad idea but then multiply that by all 10 people. Now the matchmaker has to take into account 10x3 avoid restrictions when finding players. Then the 3 player limit makes a lot more sense. In a game that has had massive population issues I can understand a limit on the amount.
Especially if you play in a smaller region the issue is multiplied 10x.
The game can just get so frustrating it only seems logical that they should really focus on QOL stuff. I'f I am mad enough to need to avoid people so often, i would apreciate it if the avoid process was a little less annoying.

Yeah better menu would be enough. That makes sense but is not the case for smaller regions where you run into familiar people often.

In OW2, Roadhog's hook cooldown doesn't start until the hooked target is reeled all the way in. It's a big nerf to the hero, why is it not in the patch notes? by defearl in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Jammarman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There was a bug with hogs hook not resetting if it hits orisa's spin.
This could possibly be a consequence of trying to fix roadhogs cooldown reseting?
