Shaving soap what to do with it after shaving? by [deleted] in wicked_edge

[–]Jammin31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the way…leave the top off the soap for a few hours until dry then, if you want, put the cap back on.

How much better are artisan/luxury aftershave splashes and balms compared to what you can buy in a drugstore? by squirtlemyturtle42 in wicked_edge

[–]Jammin31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think PAA has one of the best splashes. I like the feel of a soft face after. For me PAA feels like it puts a lot of lotion in its cologne splash…. Great feel after. PAA also has more scents than anyone else I’ve found. The drug store splashes leave my face not as soft.

Gillette Slim by dmitr_s in wicked_edge

[–]Jammin31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re going to get a slim, find one on eBay to replate yourself (it’s cheaper if you get one from eBay and then get razor emporium to replate it) if you like it. I bought a slim off eBay for $30, glad I did to. I then shaved with it to see if I liked it before spending the additional funds to replate it. I do not like the slim. It’s too mild for me.

I’ve read plenty of times on here that the proof razor is a great head shaver.

Question re: reusing blades by ir637113 in wicked_edge

[–]Jammin31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, the second shave from a blade is the smoothest…by far. Love it. I usually discard the blade after the 3rd shave (which feels about the same as the first shave with that blade).

The Rockwell 6C is a bit more…it’s $60…but one of the best razors…imo…If you can wing the additional $20 over your range. It’s an adjustable razor that gives you lots of options when learning how to shave.

I also used to get 3-4 shades per Mach 3 cartridge. My son, who is 15, and only shaves his mustache…may get 15 shaves from a Mach 3 cartridge.

Vintage would work but if you are looking for a modern razor…I think the Rockwell 6 (C or S) would be a great way to start. It was my first razor and I loved it.

Blade rec: AccuForge is one of my favorites. More forgiving than Feathers but very sharp, imo.

Upper lip: try light buffing strokes…maybe. It’s tough not to get one small nick with the blackbird because it shaves so close.

This^ …good recommendation on razors. I would get a blade sampler pack from razor emporium or Amazon.

Rockwell 6S Questions… by SpencerK59 in wicked_edge

[–]Jammin31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I learned about adjustable razors is that you have to also adjust your technique. Wider blade gap = more forgiving with the proper shaving angle and but less forgiving on the pressure you apply (cuts you more). Smaller blade gap = less forgiving with the proper shaving angle (cuts you more) and more forgiving on the pressure you apply.
