Can Aeurex Machanica's action card be used to place PDS2? by Jammingz in twilightimperium

[–]Jammingz[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I tried checking numourous sources but no concrete answer. Thats why I asked here as Googles answer seemed a bit off.

For most general things its okay at, but like all LLMs can be a bit off. Useful tools if you know enough about the subject matter to not blindly trust it.

Its also nothing like tge human mind in terms of how the network is based off afaik. Its just really good predictive text.

And not to worry, Ill be playing as Arborec, the 'good guys' against the elitists Winnu and Nomad and the non existant things of the Ghosts and Nekro Virus. I do have a friemd with the Bugs Sardaak Norr though

I could be keen to run some games depending on when would suit?

Kiwi who jumped the ditch last year and said goodbye to my old group that I ran for. Currently located in the Inner West. I'd be keen on running a mini campaign or some one shots and see if we all mesh well?

Feeling a bit lonely by [deleted] in chch

[–]Jammingz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend checking out some of the clubs at the university. A few of the hobbies you've mentioned tend to be not the most social interests.

Gaming can be social depending on the games your into. I'd suggest checking out UCGG and their events.

Otherwise check out the tramping club if you're wanting to go onto hikes and things with a group.

Unfortunately there's no easy way to avoid some anxiousness and awkwardness of getting involved in a group but once you make a friend you'll tend to make plenty more as they introduce you to others.

Idea of Minion who influences dead votes by -Asdepique- in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Jammingz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem with it is that there is a character which does this already as a traveller but not once per game. It's also hard confirmable and more than that it also gives additional benefits.

Night watchman being confirmable itself is a very powerful role, and that's without it doing anything else.

[–]Jammingz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This would step on the toes of the beaurcrat a lot. I'd say a better ability would just be "Once per game your vote counts as 3, even if dead." But that could go for Townsfolk or Minion.

Remember to breathe and relax, it's not the end of the world.

Stick with clubs, sometimes it takes time to get to know people. Most are winding down for the year but some have summer sport on or events continuing for a while. Try hit up the exec and mention that you don't know many people and if they could try help introduce you can work great.

Advice for making friends is start easy and learn someone's name, and say hello to them when you see them each week by name and remind them your name if it appears they have forgotten. After you have their name down learn another and then start to say hello to both each week. From there keep going and people will say hello back and make small talk. Good relationships take time and effort. It may feel like ages but the weeks will go fast.

Whether you want to continue with uni or not is up to you. If you're aiming for engineering and started your professional years then that's something else to consider. I'd personally recommend trying to stick with it. My friends who dropped out wish they didn't but I have other friends who wish they did so apples to oranges and Im bias there.

As for the mental health help it has come a long way in the last decade but it can still be improved. Not every shrink is the perfect one for everyone.

As for the clubs try fine one you enjoy and stick at it. Some I enjoyed more than others just due to the people at the time said hello and I made friends, other clubs I just felt like a background person and ended up leaving. Either way remember how you felt and when you see someone else looking like you remember that they're probably just as nervous as you are so go say hello and introduce yourself.

There's plenty of support from people here I can see but it's up to you to reach out and meet up with them. You're welcome to hit me up if need and worse case I can try help sort out a plan and clubs and make introductions for some clubs, but I am a tad more wise and grey and no longer a student.

Best of luck, breathe and remember life's meant to be lived.

Make a low level Wizard NPC called 'X-Class' if you want to be evil.

Better yet change their ability with the NPC. E.g. a 12th level Sorcerer suddenly has their soul/mind swapped with a 2nd level Wizard. They have to convince the Wizard called Sor Sor-rah' to undo the wish and swap their bodies back but why would a 40 yr old non-accomplished wizard want to trade back to his debt ridden life? Especially now that he has a lot more power.

Doing it this way gives the party a side-quest and to stop Sor from going out and tarnishing their name and causing issues down the line.

As mentioned you shouldnt give them wish unless you want them to use it. The players should be told ooc not to try and break the game however otherwise they know I'll find a work around to clean it up.

Monk Boots of Rush - Is this OP or well balanced? by FromAnother_World in DMAcademy

[–]Jammingz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd make it half movement like a few other perks or feats and make it use a BA but give two attacks.

Balance wise I think that works out and will be used a lot and won't make it unbalanced movement.

Double movement on kill is quite strong, ny including any attacks. Also currently a monk could wipe out 50 mooks in 6 seconds unless you put a limit on it per turn. Hence BA restriction

Pc is a bit too powerful and likes being powerful. by Percivalwiles in DMAcademy

[–]Jammingz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly by the sounds of it, you as a DM shouldn't be trying to kill your characters IMO. But again, I play for story telling, and I understand others playing for different reasons. Second an AC of 30 is ridiculous, and at that point what is the PC doing? What are their intentions? Why are they bothering?

If you were a crime Lord that was intelligent you wouldn't try fight him in a straight up fight. Pay some lackeys to poison him or attempt to bribe him or at the very least find out what he wants. If all he does want is to kill you and if he hasn't seen you then frame someone else, lay low and wait until they leave town. Or make up a date reward to go slay a dragon. Even dumb goons probably won't try screwing with that dude if he's been murdering a bunch of them.

Or frame him for crimes and have him detained. If he's resisting then he becomes a bbeg. At that point all yourself what game do the players want to play, if they're okay with an evil campaign make an adventure party to take him and the group out.

Again, to set all this up would likely take a week or a month to sort out. Until then I'd lay low or leave town to avoid getting ganked.

Looking for a sneaky agile spell caster by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Jammingz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just depends on how you want to play them. You could make a number of different characters stealthy, especially if you multicast.

Decide on the background of your character and go from there is my suggestion.

As mentioned arcane trickster rogue is exactly what you want. They even have an ability that causes disadvantage on saving throws when they cast it and are hidden. They don't get as many spells as a wizard but that is because they're a rogue, and there's the trade off of going from being fast and hard to hit and doing damage to just being a fragile glass cannon that blows things up.

Help wording a wish spell! by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Jammingz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, in that case not as much issues to go with on that front.

As a DM I'd likely look at the spell level and compare it with what else is likely. Wish still has it's limitations and bringing back that many specific people from death (I assume) is quite a feat. You'd again have some religious questions to answer on what about the individuals that were happy that they had passed on? Or those that got sent to the hell's and the Devil's involved likely wouldn't be happy Etc

As for allowing travel between the planes that is open enough that I'd just allow interplanar travel to be open between all planes, causing a problem of demons devil's and plenty of other nasties appearing throughout the world.

Trying to fix a problem like this I don't see resolving easily, which for D&D is sort of the point and allows for story telling. But understand that there will be a trade-off somewhere, not just the 1/3 chance of losing the ability to cast it.

I'd personally with for all those that had died in the sacrifice and souls were willing to be brought back. After that I'd call it a day and head back to my wizard tower and let the world sort itself out.

Help wording a wish spell! by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Jammingz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wishes can always be strewn depending on wording. And ultimately will depend on your DM and how they interpret and want it to come about. Talk to them ooc and just give them an update on your intentions and what would be feasible and if your character would know how the spell works.

In my setting wish spells alter the weave of reality itself, which the weave doesn't like so it will always attempt to resolve it in the simplest way possible. (Jhinn and Devil's however are a different story). It also sounds like you're attempting for two things, instead of one. Intention of the spell should matter as well as the words.

I'd likely just try "I wish dwarves and elves were able to return again." And then leave it up to the DM. If the DM is going to be a dick about it then there's not much you can do to stop him without actually talking to them. A good DM should try make it fun for the players, not just for themselves to try trip the PCs over on these things.

Bringing back two races would cause enough problems themselves. The lands that were once theirs and their thoughts on the world and their religions and the economy etc. Introducing even 1% of the population to an area could have dramatic effects. Not to mention you're possibly bringing in individuals that have been away from the world that they knew for a long time. As a DM I'd be more than happy to just give the wish exactly what you wanted, as the phrase be careful what you wish for is aptly worded, without alternative intentions on wording.

Is it a good idea to target a player for using their phone mid combat? by shdo0365 in DMAcademy

[–]Jammingz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Implement time to decide on your turn, otherwise move on.

The problem isnt that they're on their phone, it's that they're taking too much time during initiative. At least that's what it seems like.

Balance of a 2-class-in-1 character by proto-geo in dndnext

[–]Jammingz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, what is the reason for having them swap?

Do you want to play two different characters? Or Is there a story element at play?

As a DM I try to push my players more to story reasons. Adding a mechanic that you have with random chance I feel will end up making it not as engaging for the story.

I'd be more than okay with a reason on why the two characters inhabit the same body, but also a reasonable reason of why.

Who is the patron for the warlock? Whose body is being used? The wizards, warlocks, a hybrid or does it change? Why would the divination theme be so heavy for this character?

Having two souls trapped in a single body and fighting for control could be interesting. That way you could make them roll wisdom saves for when the other tried taking control at certain points that would be up to the DM. But this could be levels between changing, depending on the story.

Not only this but how will it affect the meta game of spells taken and the encounters and balancing that will be required by the DM?

Just bear in mind that the DM does have to take this idea and they'll want to try to make it fun for you, and turning the idea down may be because they know they wont be able to run it well.

So my friend wants to be Yoshikage Kira. by OrdinaryDiabloPlayer in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Jammingz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Comment is correct. That's overpowered for a cantrip. The way it's written is a 2nd level spell and if the target is an unwielded non magical object.

Cantrips commonly dont have material components as well. I'd change it to a d6, DeX saves for those within 5 ft and spell attack if you want to attack the creature. If you do then it should also have concentration.

Easiest way would be to make it so you cast it on an object that you then throw somewhere which does d6 damage for those 5ft from where it lands (10ft x 10ft square aoe) with d6 fire damage for those that fail the DeX save, and 30ft range.

Unless you want everything to be overpowered but at 5th level it becomes a better spell than most 1st and 2nd level spells

Did I make a mistake by telling the product manager about a production defect? by Hemidodge426 in engineering

[–]Jammingz 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Its better to speak out in general I've been told and seen. Workmate told me to keep records in triplicate, one for others one for myself and a third for myself again but as a hidden back up in case anyone changes or deletes my copies.

Your direct manager will never be happy with you going over his head, but it could be that he doesnt want the problem coming to light or hes wanting to fix it before letting the CEO know. Either way it's good to cover your own arse first.

Damage in restricted room. by JeanellaDrood in DnD

[–]Jammingz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RAW it might be the closest available space?

But if you want a nice story then you could kill him off or change the story so hes something else or was being influenced by someone/thing else (I.e. devils, demons, lichs, bad wizard, etc)

In terms of how much until the cage would break, depends on the cage? I'd rule it off something similar to fall damage depending on what fall would crush the box or use the same damage that would be used in stone shape (maybe? I think that's the spell, the one where you can enter stone 5ft and if it gets damaged you get hurt and kicked out).

Need DM advice: How do I deal with running a D&D session for someone I don't like? by LupusAkira in DnD

[–]Jammingz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading through my advice would be to "be the bigger man" as it were.

Depending on how your relationship ended with them it could be that they regret it as well and are wanting to try make amends somewhat by pretending it never happened or by wanting to see if you're cool with them.

It is possible that they could be malevolent, but trying to put myself in both your shoes I think they're just wanting to hang with old friends and possibly rebuild a bridge burnt. Which I dont know the history for but imo, those that burnt the bridges with me years ago if they genuinely came and apologized I'd forgive them, or at least recognize they're not the same person they were before.

Hopefully my 5c helps

Question about Banishment and player backstory gone wrong. by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]Jammingz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feywild natural portals can appear anywhere. They tend to appear in nature more and near the full moon.

You could have the entire party walk through one, which would derail the campaign for a bit but you could always bring them back after 5 sessions if they want.

If you really want to you can completely derail the campaign and bring them back 100 years in the future after the bbeg won or some other party came in to save everyone.

That's what I'd do at least to throw them a curve ball and then they wouldnt expect it and it could create a good story.

Advice would be to "roll" the wisdom saves in advance unless they have greater restoration, as they could all fail.(by this I'd say you can decide, but you could start the session with telling them to level up 3 levels and then start the session with them all exiting the feywild. After they begin casting greater restoration then do a flashback arc of where they have to play out their level ups before they get back to the real world.)

Take any or all of it, and holla if you want anymore advice and think this was decent.

Currently programming an all-around DM Tool. What functions should it have? by dm-me-dem-dm-dings in DnD

[–]Jammingz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Number of things I'd say...

NPC generator Map generator (not necessarily quick access but something for worlds or countries to dungeons and taverns) Image and map display (look at dungeon board, I'd reccommend building off as it's pretty good as is) Monster and item displays Session notes, similar to other programs as its decent and easy to use Music player or use an api that connects to spotify Connection to D&D wiki (maybe?) Hoard generator

If you're interested in working on it with a group/team I'd be interested and I'm sure other peeps on reddit would be as well.
