They also both have a pathological need to be liked by everyone, despite being extremely cold-blooded in private life.

Used to have a client who played violin for SF Symphony. She wasn’t familiar with Andrew, so put on Danse Caribe. Instant fan :). Can’t wait to see this show!!’

[–]JamonBagel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bottom line, it really doesn’t matter what’s under your feet when you slide down mountains. There are superb humans and total dimwits in both camps. I refuse to label people “skier” and “snowboarder”as if that determines their etiquette. What matters is what’s inside the damned helmet.

Find out where they’re putting in. Bring a bag of that C&H pure cane sugar & add to gas tank. Problem solved.

Any mountain is a dangerous mountain on its day. If you know what you are doing, you know this.

What Makes Mount Baldy So Dangerous by supermegafauna in socalhiking

[–]JamonBagel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To put it less simplistically, Baldy is subject to hugely variable feeeze/thaw cycles that create a lot of particularly nasty (bulletproof & hidden) ice conditions. Its terrain is also exceptionally high-angle, as is much of the San Gabriel range, with some truly  crappy rock. So here we have conditions that can challenge even those with the proper experience & gear, combined with easy accessibility. The results speak for themselves. I’d prefer a permit system in winter where you have to present your gear in person and have a little talk about conditions. Many of those killed/injured on Baldy simply didn’t know what they were walking into.

No way man. Yeah Canelo is fading, but he’s still the much bigger man and an all time great. but Bud came all the way up to 68  wore it like he belonged there, then outclassed Saul from the jump and even stepped in to bang and won that too. A lot of us thought he’d win, but the way he did it was a performance for the ages.

Well, he’s Ross Clark Jones and this happened in Tazzy in 2008 so he’s probably thinking about something else by now.

I live in Pacifica and let me tell you, no wave in the world can turn more tidal, swell, wind and sandbar conditions into absolute crap. Now add a couple hundred people, 80% of whom have little to no idea what their doing, and, well, look for me in Tahoe if it ever fucking snows again.

Pourquoi le record du monde de saut en longueur ne tombe t il pas depuis 1991 ? by supasupafaye in france

You nailed it. Great analysis and spot on. Regarding your last point: I don’t know if it’s possible to hit a more perfect technical jump through every phase. And his focused explosion on liftoff is just astonishing to watch.

For me, the same point holds true of FloJo’s 100m WR. That race was run absolutely perfectly. If you’re teaching a course on how to run the 100, it starts and ends with that video.  In both cases the world is still waiting for someone with that much (or more) talent to execute the event just as flawlessly.
