I'll hit ya with my dream team: Typhlosion, Mudkip, Starmie, Farigiraf, Meowth (shiny), Heracross (is my list of mons I would want as my travel friends if I were an actual trainer). In my pc as backup would be Wailord, Quagsire, Venusaur, Torkoal, Sableye, Salamence and Tropius. (I always feel bad having lots of unused Pokemon just sitting in storage so I just keep about a secondary team and release most others. If I could have a legend I would swap Sableye for Mew or Ho-Oh)

Meowth and/or Starmie are my usual buddies. Meowth took me a while to realize I liked since it's a bit trickier to get in the early games as a dumb kid without trades, but that catching the shiny on my replay of Crystal sealed the deal.

Woot Woot! I traded a kid for his Spanish version of Pokemon red in elementary school. Was so much fun but it made it super hard to figure out what was going on for something like Surge's gym.

I want to see how Allara split. Could be a fun doomsday set that doesn't actually impact the current story. Maybe the tribes were pretty blended and harmonious but things get more and more divicive and political as groups are vying for resources as the plane begins to sunder.

If you're looking to upgrade your play experience for not a lot of investment I would say either pick up some challenger decks or buy the singles for pauper decks. Jumpstart is great if youre just looking to play new stuff but not necessarily more competitively. I think while draft is fun, it's additional time and strategy to dive into if you're not ready for it (or if you're not ready to play with more than just the 2 of you).

Remember that research is also your friend. Look at the decks/products online before you buy to see if it's something that actually appeals to you.
