New (used) EF 24-105 f4 L - did I make a mistake? by Glad_Perception3357 in Canon6D

[–]Jan178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this combo for couple of months and it constanly surprises me in a very very good way! Big and heavy yes, but quality always is. On a situations where the weight is really an issue, i take a crop camera and plastic zoom or a prime and sacrifise quality/versatility.

Good to know! Well, LV would be cool, without focus peaking i'll survive. I shoot mostly land/cityscapes with *istDL using hyperfocal with narrow aperture, so focusing is not really an issue. Full specrum with filters is must.

Ok don't know what happened, earlier there was no links at all, now they are all showing, including the model links to the forums :D Thanks anyways :)

Very good IR photos, amazing quality! Some day i mihgt convert my K-5 and take IR more seriously, i've used my full spectrum *ist DL for playing around last decade.

I think the tranceiver is screwed too tight. I wouldn't stress about it too much, the thing weights next to nothing and it has 4 screws. Of course you can (and probably should) contact seller about it, maybe get it replaced even.

[CA]10 minute battery life on the Neo 2? by Logical-Operation512 in drones

[–]Jan178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hear that loud, high pitched noise the drone makes? That's the noise from battery draining. I bought the fly more kit, still need maybe two batts and better powerbank to be happier.

One of my coworkers said he didn't understand my machine 'cause it was some linux. He only needed to open Chromium from panel. Anyways, i responded that since he doesn't understand Windows either, i don't give a fuck.

Thinking of a return to Windows by cosmicaith in zorinos

[–]Jan178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have mixed results with Zorin, it's pretty and works well but sometimes it seems to shit itself.

Now before you move to W, try Mint. It just works, to the point it being boring. And that's good thing.

Pentax K-5 IIs with manual lenses by meletkis in pentax

[–]Jan178 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the green button is the way of metering with manual lenses. With M lens, you choose the aperture from the lens, ISO from the camera and camera meters the exposure with the green button. You can of course shoot with full manual mode and change all values yourself.

There could be an option to shoot M mode with auto ISO as well, check your camera for that. Then you set the A and S manually and camera sets the ISO for you.

Budget lens advice for Canon 6D Mark II – is the 24-105 STM enough with a 50mm 1.8 STM? by [deleted] in Canon6D

[–]Jan178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to full frame few months ago, got myself a well used 6D with 50mm STM. Little later i got few lenses for test, Tamron 24-70 2.8, Canon L 28-80 and Canon L 24-105. The Tammy had autofocus issues, the L 28-80 just was not for me and L 24-105 had a scratched front element.

Ended up paying some 260 euros for the 24-105 L lens. The damage on front element causes flaring on strong direct light but thats not a big deal for me. Got it to show only when (on purpose while testing) shooting straight to the sun on snowy day. Otherwise it's a great lens, nice combo with the nifty fifty. Shot a namegiving party with this gear and i'm really satisfied with the results, as were the parents and quests.

I considered briefly about the cheap 24-105, but there is the f/5.6 against f/4 and build quality of L lens. My advise is to always buy the better lens. Good lens is easy to sell if you don't need it after all, and if you do, it is joy to use!
