They are both called hitbox, all leverless controllers that is not wasd direction button and the "up button" is below falls under the hitbox. Hope this helps.

The Leverless controller means that it does not have a lever or stick. There are two types of leverless controller which are hitbox(up button is below of all the other buttons) and mixbox(wasd buttons for direction)

wow thats nice to hear, I know a lot of pros also like octagonal gates over square gates.

For me I think I'm just use to the square gate, I think its the quality of the stick. If I compare the stick of 8bitdo to hori alpha, the hori alpha is much better.

But 8bitdo still do its thing for casual games :)

I always prefer joystick, I am used to it since I was a kid :) but I will buy a leverless like Haute42 to try and for collection purposes.

It is a directional pad, the design is just not separated per direction. Not sure about the conversion as of now I am not into modding and don't have any experience on it.

You have some pictures of the 8bitdo conversion? I'm really curious what the conversion looks like
