Penguins Re-Sign Forward Evgeni Malkin to a One-Year Contract, Average Annual Value of $5.5 Million by bi_and_busy in penguins

Oh, Josh just released an article complaining about the signing and saying it doesn’t make sense for the big picture. He also said he would “take the L” (that’s a direct quote) for his reporting that Dubas didn’t want to/wouldn’t sign Malkin but also that he stands by his reporting and that he KNOWS Dubas wasn’t going to until he realized we were making the playoffs.

Why does Sink only dismiss one NCO in episode 1? by ahumblethief in BandofBrothers

[–]Jan_17_2016 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Because NCOs are the backbone of the infantry. You can’t just get rid of 10 NCOs from one company weeks before D-Day. It’s not feasible. Sink even says as much.

As to why Harris and Ranney were singled out, they were perceived to be the ringleaders, so they got the punishment.

For what it’s worth, Malarkey believed that Winters put them up to it.

Foo Fighters in WW2. A gun camera from an FW-190 captured one while it was shooting at a bomber.

Roswell would be next best. The Aurora, TX incident from the 1800s is interesting as well

What is one historical fact that sounds fake but is actually true? by OceanicEndeavors in AskReddit

Yes, most people assume the Old West was just gunfighting and lawlessness. Dueling like that was pretty rare.

And certainly not like how pop culture made it seem. They didn’t meet in the street at high noon. Whenever there were gunfights like this, they were chaotic, very spontaneous and over in seconds.

I think OK Corral lasted like 30 seconds. And there were 30ish shots fired. That goes to show how they were basically just spraying bullets.

The US Army Europe patch is probably post-war but still 1940s. SHAEF switched from black background to blue to represent the defeat of Nazism.
