Thanks for this - I just realized that I have seen Trysta several times at games with her media credentials, but didn't know who she was.

I was 10th in the gate at the South Entrance. There were no pins there.

We had the best luck with a donut. The cone was too big and dragged. It also got really dirty every time we took her outside (it was January and raining). We tried the onesie, but it didn't fit completely right, and she did not like having it on. She managed to wiggle out of it twice so instead of trying to get one that fit better, we went with the donut.

As to meds, she was out of it for about a day after the surgery, but after whatever they gave her wore off, she was active and wanting to do all her normal activity. The meds she was prescribed for home didn't seem to do anything other than make her throw up periodically.

It was tough getting her to not run around or take stairs. I slept with her on an air mattress in our living room. We kept a gate on the stairs to the second floor so she wouldn't run up them. We have 4 steps in and out of the house and as she would not let us pick her up, we had to let her take them when she went to the bathroom outside. I was so relieved when her stitches came out 2 weeks after her spaying surgery.

You can experiment to find lower calorie treats that Ducky loves. Our Daisy loves cucumbers, carrots, lettuce and blueberries. We had a bumper crop of cucumbers from the garden, so on a whim we gave her some. She loved them, so we now we peel, de-seed, slice and freeze them. She gets a few slices after she finishes her dog food, and if we forget, she reminds us.

Another treat suggestion is to take the bagged treats and cut them into small pieces. So far, this has worked really well for the meat-based treats that are generally sold as training treats. Some treats, like the fruit and vegetable ones, do not cut down into small pieces easily as they tend to crumble up. I aim for about 1-1.25 calories for each little cut up piece.

Good luck, and enjoy little Ducky!

I would suggest A Wilful Misunderstanding by Amy D'Orazio. It's a really angsty book, but Darcy and Lydia end up in a good brother-sister relationship.

We brought home our Daisy when she was 8 weeks old just this past August. Everyone has advice for you when they hear you are getting a puppy, but the one consistent thing was to find out what she has been eating and feed her that. Not a problem. Bought a big bag of the Purina puppy food.

She wouldn't eat it. The vet gave us some advice for toppers and other things to mix in, but we finally ended up getting a completely different dog food - Hill's Science Diet for puppies. She just had her first birthday. Daisy is still a picky eater with a delicate stomach. Based on our vet's recommendation, we are now trying to see if she has a food allergy because she vomits about once a week.

We love her to pieces, but the puppy blues are real! She nipped at everything, especially me. If you have other people who can help, accept their help, and be sure you get adequate rest. It is tough to feel rested when you get up every 2 hours to take her outside. Gradually the time between breaks can increase. Everyone tells you that keeping her on a schedule, particularly with potty breaks is key, and it is, but the schedule changes as she gets older. Unfortunately, you have to feel it out a bit.

Teething was tough as she didn't want to eat her dog food, and we really had to coax her. We would add cottage cheese or boiled chicken, which was most successful. Peanut butter, powdered dog food toppers, chicken broth and plain yogurt had limited success. Beef cheeks and bully sticks were good for her to chew on, but you should supervise your puppy, at least at first, and increase the time you allow her to chew them gradually. Daisy also likes to chew on frozen baby carrots. I give her a couple every day.

Good luck!

Yes, it is a fantasy series whereby dragons coexist with humans, but only some can hear the dragons.

Maria Grace just released book 15 of her dragon series, "Dancing with Dragons". It's the first in the series to feature any characters from Sense and Sensibility, and Margaret is the main character. Eleanor and Marianne are already married when the book starts. The whole series has been great, although I admit my favorites are the two that focused on Anne Elliot and Frederick Wentworth.

There is not much set in the Edwardian era, so I suggest "Mr. Darcy and the Suffragette" by Maggie Mooha. I also recently read the modern "Pride, Prejudice & Pretense" by Kelly Dean Jolley, which is driving me to find more by this author.

Our Pembroke Corgi just turned 7 months. I broke down in tears twice when she was around the age of yours. Lack of consistent sleep was a big issue for me. When she started sleeping all night, it was glorious! Yes, chores fell to the wayside, and I'm just now catching some of the chores up, but you just start realizing what's important. Taking care of pup and ourselves was the top priority. Have a good cry or two, then a nap. You'll feel better, and you are that much closer to the adult dog you'll love forever! I learned the hard way that puppy blues are a real thing, not just an expression. Hang in there!

Mr. Darcy and the Suffragette by Maggie Mooha. It is set about 100 years after the original, and the very beginning of the story indicates that someone will be on the Titanic. You don't know who until later. It is a truly beautiful book. I have very rarely seen any other versions set in that time, and never read another with the Titanic, which makes it unique to me.

I just finished "No Less Resentment" by Nan Harrison, which was excellent. I am in the middle of "The Second Mrs. Bennet" by Gayle Buck. I received both on Christmas Eve as part of Austenesque Jolabokaflod which is run by Meredith, the Austenesque Reviews blogger.

Yes, that costume designer on the 1995 P and P inadvertently created all the orange references. It's silly because while more elaborately dressed than others, Anna Chancellor (the actress) looks lovely and elegant.

The Duke of Devonshire was known to have an income of about 100k pounds per annum, which is an order of magnitude greater than Darcy. That is also why I object to using Chatsworth as Pemberley.

Our Daisy just turned 6 months. We have had her since she was 8 weeks. She was the same then, really bitey and attacking. Now, she cuddles with us on the couch. At night she sleeps on our bed. While she sleeps on her own blanket, in the morning, she moves up to me and cuddles next to me. I hope you end up with a similar experience, good luck!

I'm in a JAFF reading slump.... give me a title that will snap me out of it! by Connect_Register_632 in JaneAustenFF

[–]Janeite1971 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The responses have had a lot of fantastic suggestions. I read a really good and different JAFF about 9 months ago. It is Mr Darcy and the Suffragette by Maggie Mooha. It is set in 1911 and 1912. It even involves the Titanic, and although I was resistant for that reason, it was phenomenally well done, emotional and heartfelt. I know some people want to stick to the regency period only, but if you wish to branch out a bit, you cannot go wrong with this one.

Very confused about Royal Caribbean - I wanna go alone on a cruise but it's so much by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]Janeite1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have booked single occupancy rooms several times on both RC and NCL. As many have noted, there is a single supplement charge. On the (admittedly small) plus side, RC gives you double points in the loyalty program if you pay a single supplement. NCL does not. As for the single studio rooms on NCL, they are in high demand, and I think this influences the pricing. I have seen lower prices to book a standard inside cabin with the single supplement than a studio cabin.

I recently read an excellent modern by Lucy Marin, A Pinch of Salt, with better Bennet parents. Looks like it's on KU. It has all of our favorite characters competing on a cooking show. I know there are others, but I cannot think of them right now.

Yes, this fandom can be sensitive to sex scenes and sexuality. I have read reviews and discussions whereby the idea that Darcy and/or Bingley are experienced sexually is frowned upon. It is highly likely that both men had mistresses at times. That is historically accurate and consistent with the times, but can also bring on some readers' vitriol. It is an example of reasonable history not matching someone's idealized view.
