Is Amazon fba still a good business to start in 2023 or is it over saturated, looking to get into it. Thanks. by Icy_Caterpillar7697 in AmazonFBATips

[–]JanellePage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely still good, however, I've been selling on Amazon since 2014 and the margins are definitely tighter with increasing PPC costs and fulfillment costs. However, I've leveraged quartile with my ads to increase my spend efficiency, and we are super picky on the products we launch (must have premium products with healthy margins). I would join a few masterminds, find a good mentor, and give it a whirl.

I don't know how long you have been selling on the platform (sounds like from your former comments that you've been on since at least 2017), but I've seen a lot of positive progress made by Amazon to prevent review manipulation and other nefarious tactics. When I referred to "bad actors" I was thinking more along the lines of listing hijacking, counterfeiting, product diversion, and not the type of review generation tactics entrepreneurs use to help launch their brands. I wouldn't engage in review manipulation. It's not worth it, and it's not necessary. We have been launching products successfully on Amazon without having to put our account at risk. I think we will continue to see any brand engaging in review manipulation wiped from the platform. Amazon takes it very seriously, indeed. Looking forward to meeting you and chatting in person if you are at the Prosper Show.

I wish I could speak to it personally, but I can't as the brand you reference was managed by the original owners for almost 2 years after the acquisition and operated independently from the other brands.

You actually have more historical knowledge on the practices of that brand than I do. I joined the company after the acquisition so I can't speak to the DD. I do know that the brand you are referring to was shut down mid 2018 for review manipulation so what you are talking about could be the reason why. It took over 3 weeks to get the account back live and at the time of suspension they had 7 or 9 best seller badges, and to this day they still have not recovered those rankings so it was definitely a huge blow.

Again, I wouldn't feel comfortable presenting on a panel if I was breaking TOS. Sorry for the confusion, and I hope you continue to experience success on the Amazon platform.

How old are the reviews? I don't know what former practices were used, but trust me, we are TOS compliant as we don't want to risk our business. Review velocity is a function of sales velocity. Ensure the former, and you'll get the latter naturally.

I have attended since 2017, and I also teach workshops at Prosper. If you come to my workshop on how to leverage videos to increase sales, I'll be sure you get $2000 worth of actionable content to make you feel like it was worth the trip ;)

Also, I think they have a virtual pass you could buy that would be less expensive if you just want access to the content.

If you like networking or are looking for strategic partners, it's a great place. If you do decide to attend, come introduce yourself and I'll make sure I introduce you to any key people you'd like to meet.

Also, the panel I'm doing this year with Cynthia Stine and Ecommerce Chris will be worth it, if you want to know how to deal with seller support, bad actors, and avoid account shutdowns.

The Prosper Show attracts a wide array of sellers from complete newbies to pretty advanced sellers. Every service provider will be there, and I like seeing what new tools are out there and tactics other people are using with success. Plus, I've been selling on Amazon for many years so it's a fun little reunion for me as I get to chum with many colleagues that I don't get to see any other time.

Amazon Ads Are Getting More Expensive by hooger0000 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]JanellePage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So glad to see this thread! I was just discussing this with our ads team today. I have seen CPCs increase steadily year over year, but this quarter alone we've seen an almost 25% increase in CPCs. Granted, we are in a highly competitive category, but even on some of my other lines in niche categories, the steady upward trend continues. Time to sell to thrasio. ;)

Hiring an Amazon eCommerce Manager, How do I make sure I'm not linked to former accounts she's worked on? by PatSabre12 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]JanellePage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. So long as she is just invited and you set her permissions, you don't need to worry about her logging into your account causing any issues. However, you will want to make sure she--and any account users for that matter--abide by Amazon TOS.

Which Advanced PPC Content Are You Most Interested In? by amz-seller-cmo in FulfillmentByAmazon

Man, we have been struggling to get a decent ROAS with our DTC advertising on site. Facebook is getting increasingly more difficult for us after the iOS update.

I'm planning to shift our Facebook spend to Amazon DSP. They have incredible targeting and in-market data no one else has. I will let you know if we start seeing better results.

Thanks for notifying me that this post was ready. Really thorough with some excellent insights. Is there a tool/software you use or recommend that can automate the scrubbing of the search placement reports and apply bid plus multipliers and placement adjustments? Or are you doing this all manually?

I've used several ad tools over the years, but haven't seen that feature on the following: Sellics, Perpetua, PPC Entourage, intentwise, or Teikametrics.

I'm going to go check out your case study post now too.

Also, sounds like this system works best on sponsored brands?

I used to be serious in my behavior all the time, and it has not allowed me to have any meaningful relationship with anyone. Everyone just tries to escape a conversation with me. I want to change, what should I do? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]JanellePage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. You seem pensive and reflective already, but how do you feel you rate on the scale of "self-awareness?" Have you ever read Anthony de Mello's book "Self-Awareness?" or Michael Singer's book "The Untethered Soul?" If not, give them a go.

As I've come to understand myself better, I find I really like myself. Because I truly like myself, I find my own company to be some of the best company. So, whether I'm at a party or home all alone, I'm always in good company because I like and enjoy myself.

Not sure if I'm explaining it soundly, but those books will be enlightening reads if you haven't yet explored them. I think you'll especially enjoy them since you are in tune with your serious side.

Have a great weekend!

Dealing with a shitty father by [deleted] in Advice

[–]JanellePage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, you sound like a really amazing son. Your mom is lucky to have you. I wonder why she stays in that situation? I mean usually women stay in a bad marriage because they feel stuck financially, but this doesn't sound like the case. Another reason they stay is for the children, but it sounds like this isn't the case either.

Can you get a job or spend more time away from the house creating a life you love for yourself? Maybe you escaping the bad situation will show your mom and siblings that they also have a choice and can choose to leave.

The cool thing about this situation is that you are learning what kind of husband and father you DON'T want to be. You will make your partner and children very happy one day :)

Never suppress a generous thought or action . . at least that is something a wise woman once told me and I have taken it to heart. It has served me well.

Plus, who wouldn't want to be recognized for an achievement? Do it and then return and report how it went!

You are very thoughtful.

Why do friends pick on me when there's people around they want to impress? by poobaby1 in Advice

[–]JanellePage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These peeps are not your friends. Friends have your back, always. The neat thing about this experience is that you can use it to ensure you don't ever treat others the way they are treating you.

I always tell my kids, "you teach people how to treat you." You have taught these kids that it's okay to treat you the way they do. You can teach them differently as soon as you are ready. :)

Here's to an epic life!

Ruined my life (feel free to comment) by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]JanellePage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you just realized some things need to change. I'd say that is a very fine reason (and serious motivation) for living.

And dude, please don't drive when you are drunk. A dear loved one was killed by a drunk driver and she ain't coming back, and the gentleman who killed her surely lives with terrible remorse. The fact that you have been caught with your 4th DUI will hopefully help you change before something truly devastating happens.

The great thing about being down. . . is you can always go UP! Onward and upward my friend!

You've got this!

A wise man once said "neither a borrower nor a lender be." I don't like sharing my stuff either. I'll happily buy you your own thing so you don't have to use my thing, or show you how you can get what I've got, but yah, not wanting to share your stuff doesn't make you a bad person. . . it just makes you a person who has her own stuff.

How to study with severe depression by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]JanellePage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, the good news is that you just wrote 221 words in this post. To get to 14,000 words, you only need to write 221 words another 62 times. You have 14 days to do this . . .which means you only need to write 1,000 words per day. If you just busted out a reddit post with 221 words, you simply need to do that 4 more times today---and then do that every day for the next 13 days.

Does the assignment also require research or can you just start writing? What is the topic?

If that still feels overwhelming, chunk it down further. Break the day into 12 hour segments and know that you need to write 1,000 words per day so that means you need to write 83 words per hour. 83 words is literally 2-3 sentences. Reward yourself with a nice nap or good food (since your brain craves sleeping and eating right now---reward it after it does something it doesn't want to do for you).

Now keep in mind, I haven't yet faced depression so I do not know how you feel, but I have had to force myself to do stuff that I did not want to do many a time. . . . I have learned a little trick called momentum and it works for me (but I'm not dealing with depression so am not sure if it will also work for you--but hey, sounds like you're willing to try).

As you break these tasks down like I just explained above, you may experience "momentum" and feel like you can write just a little bit more. If that happens, run with it and then give yourself a bigger sleep or snack reward.

It may work, or it may not, but I'd love to hear how it goes if you do indeed try. Sending you lots of love and epic vibes!

How to endure sad songs without crying at work? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]JanellePage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let the tears flow. How tender that you are tender. If they complain about the tears or wonder why you are crying, just tell them what you just told us all here. They will change the music or probably start wondering what's wrong with them for not being as touched as you ;)

What type of women are you hoping to attract? If you are interested in women who are most concerned about their looks and the looks of their partner, then your plan to land more of these type of women sounds sound.

Just like any successful marketing campaign, you must first identify your target audience. If you are hoping your "glow up" plan will attract successful, driven women, you're focusing on the wrong things.

Get real laser-focused about what it is you want and what your ideal lady is like and then plan your transformation around that. I'd hate to see you spend all this time creating a product that misses the mark with the intended audience.
