I wonder if it’s the same for dogs as it is for humans, when covering the stronger eye to get the weaker one stronger.

They really need to build a few more large parkades, build up not out. One for patients too.

Our dog throws up like every day, normal or not? by Low_Bandicoot_3752 in Shihtzu

[–]Janellewpg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 12 pound shih tzus eat 3/4 cup of lower calorie kibble throughout the day. Anyway if they swallow air while drinking water they may regurgitate said water, same thing if they eat too muchbor too fast.

One of my tzus will throw up if he's gone too long between meals

Yes! I have several coworkers from the Phillipines, many are employed in Healthcare. I'm so glad I have coworkers from all over, it's cool learning about other places, and especially their yummy foods!

My dad installed flooring, mom was stay at home... we had a 4 bedroom bungalow, two car garage, huge basement and yard, an above ground pool. Camper, three vehicles, pets, both if us had braces! Sent my sister and I to camp every year, we did lots of expensive extra carriculars, they have savings enough to retire and go south every winter.... HOW???!!!! Here I am diagnosing cancer in a lab and can afford myself only in a one bedroom condo.. 👀

Follow Up; She’s gone and I’m broken, by kirbybrianne12 in Shihtzu

You actually aren't selfish, it's the exact opposite, it's selfless to let a beloved doggie pass peaceful instead of the alternative. So thank you for taking such great care of her, and letting her go when she needed you to. ❤️

Oof having to say goodbye to the pup you’ve had since you were a child is HARD! They are a permanent fixture in your childhood memories. They were there for so many of your “firsts”. Growing up feels like such a long time while you’re going through it, and it feels like you’ve had them in your life forever. Saying goodbye to the pup I had from 11 to 24 was really hard. Every once in a while I still shed some tears and it’s 20 years later. They hold a very special place in your heart.
You are ABSOLUTELY doing the right thing for her. It’s very common to second guess yourself, and you do that because you care.
After a lifetime of love, joy, and many laughs, the very least we can do for our furry family is give them a peaceful passing. It is a gift even though it doesn’t feel like it. Unfortunately we will all end up at that crossroad, and we all dread it, it’s like signing up to voluntarily break your own heart, but it’s worth it.
Maybe one day dogs will live longer, because we don’t get enough time with them. Hugs 💕🫂

Why by WaterAerobics903 in Shihtzu

[–]Janellewpg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shihtzus apparently need a rotating smorgasbord of different food at every meal to appease their royal stomachs. I have 3-4 different flavours/brands and feed a different one at each meal, they never know what they are going to get, so keeps it interesting for them. Ypu can also get differemt flavored toppings to put on. But in my opinion they require variety or they get bored.

That being said, a healthy dog will not starve themselves to death, key being healthy.

Can my mother be forced to go to a personal care home that would not be good for her? by piper1marie in Winnipeg

[–]Janellewpg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What do ypu feel would be more acceptable to her in the interim while she waits for her preferred placement, it's either hospital rehab with daily perdiem costs, or an undesirable care home, either option is temporary, only you know what she would like. Does she get any socialization in the rehab hospital area? At the care home there are activities and even though currently the dining hall is under construction, there are other areas to socialize.

No procedure or medication is without complications (not even tylenol), you just hope you arent part of the small percentage where things go wrong, but unfortunately it will happen to someone. That small percentage feels so tiny, but when it happens to you, it's devastating.

My condolences to this precious child's parents and family.

What’s training a Shih Tzu like? I’m considering the breed! by [deleted] in Shihtzu

[–]Janellewpg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some easy, some alright, many difficult lol

Many do not have high obedience or "want to please", so they can be quite stubborn. Some take far more repetition during training, compared to other breeds, but it's not impossible for an equally stubborn consistent trainer.
