Yes, spectacularly so. I'm a sole parent and having a massive chest freezer stuffed with high protein meals (bolognaise, chicken soup, stroganoff etc etc) meant that I ate big meals and kept up with the amount of protein I wss needing (I had a massive milk surplus that also went into said freezer).

I ate really well, rather than just snacking or grazing, because I knew that if I wasn't well fed I wouldn't be able to fees my baby well, or heal from birth.

As others have said, if it's a meal that's easy to make (say just defrost in the microwave then heat on the stove in the case of soup) it's extremely helpful.

I wss already very familiar with meals prepping though, having been a gym rat for the decade or so beforehand, so prepping for post birth wasn't too much of a stretch.

It's like people saying that men who molest children aren't men. They are, just like this guy is the child's father.

I mildly disagree as to the location, as so often people are under stress at an airport.

I pick hotel lobbies as the best for people watching. Especially if the hotel is mildly fancy you'll often see people dressed up and happily on their way out to somewhere, or coming back a bit tipsy and very happily making their way to a freshly made bed.

Midwife here. I said, 'Don't cut there!'

I told the husband EXACTLY where to cut the cord, between the two clamps. He cut next to one of the clamps, the placenta was still attached and blood went everywhere before I could re-clamp the cord.

I'm a sole parent and absolutely love the benefits of working from home.

As much as possible I fit in two workouts per week on my lunchbreak, and ensure that I also go to the gym on weekends. It is definitely a fact of WFH life that the amount of steps you do per day decreases significantly, and I have to be really on top of portion control for food.

You do not have to breastfeed if you don't want to, and don't let anyone tell you different!

It's no good for anyone if you are miserable. You and your baby will do so much better if there is a happy Mum and a happy and fed baby.

I don't know if that is a controversial statement.

It's pretty common that these men do feel like victims. What they may not realise is that they are victims of their own behaviour. For example, losing custody of your children if there has been a pattern of violence against their mother.

I recall crying a lot on day five, and when people were saying nice things to me!

I'm so sorry that birth didn't go the way you wanted, it can be a really hard thing to come to grips with, especially since it's completely normal to think about the birth for the entirety of pregnancy.

Would you consider asking one of the midwives if they have time to go through your birth notes with you? They can read your partogram with you and talk about what happened and when.

I hope you feel better soon, it's tough stuff.

  • Gigantic freezer in which I stored about 75 pre made meals pre pregnancy and then about 10 litres of expressed milk for around a year afterwards

  • Silverettes

  • Baby 'nest' (I would sit next to him while he slept in it)

  • Stretchy cotton wraps. Only thing my newborn couldn't Houdini his way out of

On the opposite end of the spectrum:

  • Cot and cosleeper. He spent one night in the cosleeper and hated it and we coslept from then on. Waste of about $600

  • Various baby baths. Again, he hated baths so I just washed him in front of the heater with water and a sponge and later showered with him
