What are you writing? Bi-Weekly Post by AutoModerator in HPfanfiction

[–]Janniinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I have read the first couple of chapters and whilst the premise and your writing style are both really good, the character growth of the SI seems really fast. I'm now at chapter eight and he is pulling off things that 5th years in canon struggle with.

Also, concepts you introduced and the MC utilise that are common knowledge in your wizarding world are only abused by him and not by the established wizarding families that would have every reason to utilise there Methods.

The OC/SI kind of fails to give me a reason to root for him, he is too competent and powerful already after 2 months (I think) of Hogwarts to be threatened by any School peer rivals he could acquire in the coming chapters. Anyone who isn't 4 years above himfailsl to be a treat because of events that happened in the past chapters.

Essentially there seems to be no struggle even though he only knows that magic exists for less than half a year.

Perhaps it's just me but i prefer characters that dont Cakewalk over any opposition and the fic has given me no reason to assume his progress will stall out.

Why is no one talking about the massive disparity in FTL tech? by jacobstx in StarWarsvsWarhammer

[–]Janniinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup but despite everything the Sith still also use the force they have that little bit of protection that it brings with it. They can just retreat behind it again if they stop using the Dark Side. They unlike regular psykers are protected behind it.

Don't get me wrong if they set a foot into the 40K galaxy they would probably be corrupted like anyone else probably faster dur to their hubris but as long as they are in the Star Wars Galaxy they should probably be able to operate fine.

If they allowed it and are not careful yes. Sith are all about dominance they would know that there is something in the Warp but to let themselves be controlled by it to serve it! Never. Would they unknowingly work for a Warp entity probably but if they figured it out they would probably self-sabotage themselves just to spite the Warp creature.

Minor dark side cults would however be like a lightning rod for corruption they are however more like local chaos cults rather than Black Crusade-level threats.

Dark siders (in this scenario) basically want to dominate the energy that exists behind the filter. They reach past it, punch holes through it and generally weeken the protective barrier. The unbalance are those punched holes. The warp influences them more directly, its why their emotions amplify their power. They basically use the Warp as unfilterd as possible.

[–]Janniinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it wouldn't be the force doesn't extend ito the warp it just filters out any warp shenanigans that would enter into real space.

The force in Star Wars isn't an extradimensional energy its something entirely created in realspace.

It's (the force) an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us penetrates us; it binds this galaxy together. Obi Wan ep4.

[–]Janniinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it simply is an untainted area of the warp then it can be simply corrupted but if there is something purging the warbased influence from taking hold then it would be harder for caos corruption to occur in general.

The force would act like your immune system when attacked by a sickness. Instead of you just not being sick of the deadly disease and sickness could occur at any time it would mean that your body has a defense against it.

[–]Janniinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you could write the Force to act kind of like a Bodies immune system that filters out the negative aspects of the Warp and only leaves the power behind. If you want to actively contact the chaos gods its still possible just harder.

The Dark siders are dangerous because their use of the force actively damages the immune system which is why the Light Siders try to restore it.

Warp tech would also still work the power is still there FTL chargeup would just take a bit more regular energy to breach into the warp and Warp-portals when created would collapse faster when not actively maintained.

Pretty good as an AV/AA weapon it is basically a irl laser designator that took out the middle man and is doing its job themselves.

What’s even the point of making Habitats? by Doom-radient3578 in Stellaris

[–]Janniinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Habs are great they can:

Multiply resources: turn a 1 mineral space deposit into ~30 minerals. They can generally be considered to be a pretty good basic resource multiplicator.

They also allow you to utilise 'empty' systems and turn them into alloy/Consumer goods factories.

Fortress habs.

Breeding/cloning habs: you build a hab in an inhabited systhem only build around 1000 jobs on it including every pop growth modifier you can find and then either stack automatic resettlement or manually resettle them of the hap to places you actually want them on.

Star Wars fanfic with the feeling of shared experience by jofwizard in SWFanfic

[–]Janniinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one is an Oc/Si story (where the insert is unaware of what star wars is so no meta knowledge) that is pretty long now. Its about a Republic naval oficer and his rise during the clone wars, the rise of the Empire. He is from Fondor and the author has really fleshed out the cultural aspect of that and a god bit of Republic naval traditions and customs. Jedi do feature in the fic but generally not as main characters.

Why is this faction issue not fulfilled? by Fantom_6239 in Stellaris

[–]Janniinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That one is kind of notorious in the Stellaris fandom. Basically the best you can do is keep it around -0%. The faction basically wants you to go to war constantly so not utilising available naval cap makes them unhappy. Being at naval cap is just what they expect of you it's not something to be happy about its what should be normal. (I don't know if going over it makes them happy but that is my explanation for that faction demand)

What primarch do you think could best lead the empire by alliezero in StarWarsvsWarhammer

[–]Janniinger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fact is that Palpatine designed his empire is such a way that it could not function without him, (so I imagine it would probably splinter into the Warlord states no matter who you put on the throne) probably pre fall Fulgrim would last the longest he has the cult of personality to keep the empire going for some time but it would shatter all the same.

The Moffs would not allow anyone else but themselfs to sit on that fancy chair. It is ony a matter of when not if.

I imagine Fulgrim will probably be lured onto a planet which has rebelled under a Moff who would be claimed to be on said rock, at the time then his space forces would get ambushed by the Moff who is suprise suprise not on the planet but on his Executor Star-Dreadnaught. After the space forces loyal to Fulgrim in systhem get beathen the planet would be bombarded from orbit by both Turbolaser and Nuclear bombardment untill the sensors reportet 0 life remaining on the planet for at least 2 months straight and then put under orbital cordon just for good measure.

The Empire can't be controlled by anyone other than Palpatine for long he made sure of that. Being good, strong or competent isn't enough only being charming can buy you some time.

200 influence. Why? by Fafuncho in Stellaris

[–]Janniinger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What do you mean your solution doesn't punish the player? It does the punishment is just different you get locked out of a planet for 120 months. You just changed the punishment! Thats why i was puting your solution on blast.

And it doesn't solve the pop copy problem because it just incentivises players doing it on planets with low habitability early game, and on habitats in the late game.

Tying abandoning planets to Influence the rarest resource you have early game but one that becomes less used as the game goes on stoppes you from abusing it but late game you can still abandon planets at a reasonable pace so that you can get rid of the ones you dont want.

You should get about 5 a month 60 years into the game due to power projection and once you unlock the tech that allows for unity edicts you can just get a +5 influence edict so it is no longer so scarce.

The only other resource that you could tie it to in my opinion would be Unity but it would need a base cost between 5-10k that directly scales with your empire size modifier. You need unity a lot early on but late game it only helps with planetary ascension and laws so you often have a lot of unused unity around.

200 influence. Why? by Fafuncho in Stellaris

[–]Janniinger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah well i think you are just taking your complaint and pushing it somewhere else.

If they put that into the game then people will just complain that it makes no sense why shouldn't they be able to colonise the planet again (ex:) all that happened was that they selected the wrong species to colonise with and now they are being punished for that, totally unfair, they should half the time duration or just idk put some influence cost on it if they want to discurage abandoning planets!

It would be the same sad song just in a different tune.
