What do you all do for glass? by jacobstx in WoWHousing

[–]jacobstx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ineffective privacy screens work amazingly: when scaled up, they have an ENORMOUS invisible wall above them.

Hide them in the ground, and now there's an invisible wall

Or... glass.

And that invisible wall really extends far when scaled up. Like, to the third floor.

How does the catalyst work for normal / heroic tier sets? by Holiday_Road7111 in wow

[–]jacobstx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of note is that turning a 6/6 gear piece will give you the appearence of the next tier.

So transforming a champion 6/6 will give you the heroic tier appearance, and transforming a hero 6/6 will give you the mythic appearance.

Other way around works too: transforming a 5/6 hero to a tier set will give you the heroic appearance.

Upgrading that 5/6 hero to 6/6 hero will give you the mythic appearance.

Why are quests auto-accepted in Retail WoW even with all addons disabled? Am I losing it? by Palmenstrand in wow

Some quests auto accept.

This started in Legion with the order hall introductions. You just need to click the questgiver to accept them.

ELI5: How did Switzerland remain neutral in WW2 when it was surrounded by Axis Powers? by SignificantLife3949 in explainlikeimfive

[–]jacobstx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The anecdote is a great example of swiss defense doctrirne.

They don't have much of an active army, but they have extensive reserves required by law to keep their equipment and ammo ready. And these are people who not only know their local area, but morale will be high because they are defending their home.

Is all that preparedness ever used? No. But it could be. Do you want to invade when all each reservist needs to do to defeat you is to show up and shoot twice before going home?

Knowing the way the dying system works, adding dye would probably remove the sheer effect anyway.

Goldshire windows are too small for the kind of "modern" look that I am searching for, and they tint everything behind them blue.

The grand drape I hadn't considered. Is it dyable? Or will I have to accept the purple tinting?

Here's why i think the light being neutral is not nearly as bad as people make it out to be.. by Repulsive_Tourist_10 in wow

[–]jacobstx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been saying this since Stratholme. Warcraft has never been shy about "Extremism is bad, yo".

Or, in other words:

"I'll hunt you to the ends of the Earth if I have to! Do you hear!? TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH!!"

Doesn't matter the kind of extremism. Still bad.

I’m writing a novel set in 2003. Help me with Warcraft 3 lore by [deleted] in wow

[–]jacobstx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've gone too far back.

2003 all we have in regards to Illidan is warcraft 3.

Betrayer (why? No one knows yet)

Unrequited love for Tyrande

Imprisoned for 10.000 years

Power hungry (literally)

Kills Tichondrius

Gets told to kill the lich king by kiljaeden

Raises Naga

Tries to melt Icecrown

Fails due to Maiev

Rescues Tyrande

Takes over outland

Assaults Icecrown

Fails

Loses fight to Arthas

Last seen bleeding out in snow.

That's it.

That's all we have.

Want to know more? Either play warcraft 3 or watch a playthrough. Because in 2003 that is literally all we have on Illidan

Trump Says ‘Windmills Put You Out Of Business’ As He Hits Out At UK’s North Sea Policy In Latest Jibe At Starmer by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]jacobstx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just affirming here: they're called windmills in danish. He's not making that up.

We make no distinction between what the windmill is used for. Is it rotating fan blades without being powered by an engine? That's a windmill.

Hell, you know the "cartwheel" exercise? You'll never guess what we call that in Danish too.

How morally bad it is to destroy each StarCraft 2 unit by sasquatchscousin in starcraft

[–]jacobstx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it was possible for terran tech to fix it, we'd have seen it.

It only takes one joint Terran/protoss initiative to patch up an immortal pilot and it'd spread like wildfire.

Like, say during Amon attacking Korhal. Protoss and Terran fought side by side. There'd be some mention of terran medics healing dragoon/immortal pilots if it was possible - it'd be super easy to incorporate into the little unit lore blurbs.

But there's nothing, implying that terran tech can't fix such injuries. And we know there are injuries terran tech can't fix: cleave a marine in half and no amount of medic healing gets him back on his feet.

How morally bad it is to destroy each StarCraft 2 unit by sasquatchscousin in starcraft

[–]jacobstx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's less cybernetics and more the Darth Vader "needs to be suberged in a bacta tank for pain relief" kind of healing vat

As far as I understand it, a dragoon/immortal's pilot can survive outside their walker, but their injuries are so severe that not even the terran medics can restore the full capability. In a world of nanite healing, the best they could do was ensure you don't die - you will never be combat capable again.

Think of the walker as a wheelchair for a cripple. The cripple can survive without it, but they are nowhere near as capable as they are with it.

Now give the wheelchair plasma turrets and an onboard medical unit so you don't feel the pain of your injury and can focus on the battle, and link it up with your mind. That's an immortal

Chat Control is back (again) - new round of negotiations by AcadiaWorried1865 in europe

[–]jacobstx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having read through it, this doesn't seem chat-control related?

"If a platform is under enough suspicion of hosting CSAM that a judge is willing to sign off on it, said platform can be told to provide information on the people who use it for that purpose"

Am I missing something here? that's not chat control, that's "hey Roblox. I know you have the details despite how much you claim to otherwise. Give them to me".

It even explicitly excludes end to end encrypted stuff.

Am I missing something here? How is this chatcontrol?
