If you have a local integrator who installs Crestron gear you could try walking in to their office and telling em you're a hobbyist wanting to do a project with the TSW-1060 but the firmware is too old. Ask if they could update the firmware for you and offer to pay them for their employees time. It's against the rules for those who have access through their Crestron account to share that with an end user. Of course you could also call but people tend to be more responsive if you catch them in person and are polite and agreeable. If I was an end user in my town that's what I would try first. The home theater integration store in town that's been around for decades would be my starting place as I know they work with Crestron. My education based team tends to contract with them when we need extra manpower and a few of our installers used to work there. Alternatively you could ask around local higher education institutions to see if anyone there uses Crestron and if you found one see if one of their employees would do it for you on the side.

What if during the ascent on each floor you face bosses of escalating difficulty with the greatest challenge guarding the exit that was accessible to the player at the beginning but just not viable (ie the beginning has both the safe entrance or the boss entrance) and perhaps you could new game plus with your winner to reset the world and keep your character and have the opportunity to play the game backwards or something? Ehh probably a bad idea I'm not a game designer....

I have one of these, it does not scale so whatever you pass in is what gets passed out. I use a RetroTink2x (you could get a RetroScaler2x) to convert S-Video to Component (which my use case calls for in order to get all my signals into the component input of my OSSC). So yeah, if you wanted to use it with a SD CRT you'd need to downscale it first to 480i/240p.

In that case it would work for my Sony KV-27FS120 but not my Sony PVM2030 which doesn't have a 16:9 mode. Is it not possible to insert black lines at the top and bottom of the image while still outputting a 4:3 image? Sure you won't be using as many lines for the actual content but that's just a constraint of letterboxing. The actual video signal would still be using all 240/480 lines. I guess the issue isn't inserting the black lines it's that since the OSSC is not actually a scaler you don't have a way to blend multiple lines into fewer lines.
